This topic is about stuff going on in everyday life. I do hope one day it will come to a stop.
VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN IS NEVER JUSTIFIED OR ACCEPTABLE.
IT IS A CRIME.
Violence:
is life threatening. In Ontario between 3-6 women are murdered each month by their current or former male partner.
has no place in the family or in the community.
is learned behaviour. It can, therefore, be changed.
is a choice.
is a power issue.
is never justified. No behaviour of any woman justifies or provokes violence.
is never the responsibility of the woman being abused. Responsibility for violence rests with the batterer.
does not stem from "loss of control". Control is what the batterer wants.
occurs in all classes, races, and cultural groups.
The issue of violence is complex. We need to understand the social, personal, economic, political, cultural, and religious dimensions of violence in a multicultural context.
Immigrant women and children face specific problems, such as:
racism
immigration policy/laws
language barriers
service access/lack of availability
lack of experience with social services
distrust of the judicial system
isolation
low economic status.
The community has the right and the responsibility to get involved. The more that is known about violence, the more effective the community can be in intervening and preventing violence, and the less it will happen.

Poems, Poetry
One of my favourite things are poems...I love them. They carry so much meaning and they express so much. So here are a couple of poems I found and loved.
Dear, I to thee this diamond commend,
In which a model of thyself I send.
How just unto thy joints this circlet sitteth,
So just thy face and shape my fancy fitteth.
The touch will try this ring of purest gold,
My touch tries thee, as pure though softer mold.
That metal precious is, the stone is true,
As true, and then how much more precious you.
The gem is clear, and hath nor needs no foil,
Thy face, nay more, thy fame is free from soil.
You'll deem this dear, because from me you have it,

I ne'er was struck before that hour

I love music:) ...its my passion. When I'm down just listening to a song can make me feel better...there are songs out there that makes me cry and songs that makes me smile and songs that just take me to another world.
Their are many types of music out there...and I must say I listen to most of them.... Pop, Rock, Hip-Hop, R&B, Souls, Rock/Pop, Rap, Classical, Dancehall, Calypso, Soca, Reggae... though I do listen to some music where you mainly hear the drums and guitars instead of the singer (can't remember the genre) I also can't stand it sometimes...I mean there are times when the music, the beat..everything sound good BUT sometimes it just sounds like complete and total noise.
Then you have the artists....as long as you got talent and you make beautiful music...I'll probaly love your music...but alot a people face problems because of the artist they like....I personally think you are allowed to love, listen and be a fan of any artist you wish without being harrassed about it....if one wants to be a fan of Green Day, Britney Spears, 50 Cent and Backstreet Boys then let them and stop annoying them about it. And people need to stop disrespecting artists too...if you don't like them you don't...there is no need to go out the way to tell people you don't.
