MIND YOUR FIVE SENSES

You cannot be recruited as a soldier if you were blind. If you decided to go for war with blind eyes, you can be sure to be the first target to be killed. This is exactly in the spiritual realm. The disadvantage of being blind in the physical are exactly the same in the spiritual. As a soldier for Jesus, you need sight to give you direction in this world. You cannot overcome temptation without it.
I. DIRECTIONS
Dictionary defines direction as the the place or point towards which one is moving or facing. Directions are instructions about the way to go to reach a place.
Before soldiers are engaged into the action of war, they have to understand the position of their enemies by identifying the direction. After this, they have to go through instructions about the way to go to accomplish their mission. They must give a careful study in order to know the exact routes to use. Apparently, they have to devote their time to learning. Their mathematical calculations concerning their enemies' map must give them confidence and trust in their plans of action and reliable enough to give them victory. They must be focused on their business never lose direction lest their enemies captalize on their mistakes and capture them. Therefore, in trying to avoid this, they must take very necessary precautions. They must carefully follow the map as they advance. This ask for total discipline and awareness. Any soldier who disobeys instructions meet his/her own fate during the action of war.
Instructions about the enemy's direction and position in military are too important to give little attention. There is no millitary army which can ignore such strategies. As a soldier for Jesus, you need to understand that you are assigned by God to accomplish a specific task against forces of darkness. Your life is sorrounded with evil, which easily entagles you to sin. The Bible says,"Go I'm sending you out like lambs among wolves." Luke 10:3
Your life is in danger, it is vulnerable for attack until you identify your direction in this world, or you will easily be ambushed by your enemies. Knowing your directions before you begin your journey would save you from many frustrations and disappointments. You will always have the confidence in yourself and your journey if you have a map of instruction to show your destination. Your life must give you a map to show your direction, this means that you must have a sense of purpose for your life, like a marathon race, you must be focused.
You have to press on to the vision God has called you for or you will never know your real purpose in life. Your eyes enables you to see ahead and not besides the road so should your life be. Like a fired bullet or arrow so forciful should your life be that it should hit the target.

The Bible says,"Let your eyes look straight ahead, fix your gaze directly before you. Make level paths for your feet and take only ways that are firm. Do not swerve to the right or the left; keep your feet from evil." proverbs 4:25-27
There no direction without the WAY!
II. WAY
Dictionary defines Way as the route, road or direction taken for a particular journey.
When soldiers finish studying the map concerning their enemies' territory, the next thing they look forwad to do is to find the route on which they would use to undertake their mission to attack their enemies. They have to put whatever they have learnt into action. It is during the course of this route on which their enemies come to attack them.
Christianity is a WAY in which you travel to fulfil God's purposes for your life. It is a race on which you run to win a prize at the end. Your race began the time you were born again; yes, the time you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. In this race, you are expected to be disciplined by following every bit of instruction if you are to reach your destination. The devil always comes to distruct your focus just to try to discourage and frustrate you. But you have to realise that in this WAY, there are hills and mountains to climb, valleys and desert to run through, rivers and lakes to cross. This symbolizes your challenging times of difficulties to test your faith in Christ. These are the times you are required to be strong in prayers to God knowing there is a reward at the end of the road. It is unfortunate that many christians become tired, discouraged, disappointed and end up pulling off the race. Are you tired to stop the race? Know that you are not alone in this race. Every time you feel like pulling off, be encouraged, Jesus is on your side to encourage you to hold on. He is by your side to show you the WAY because he is the WAY the truth and the life...John 14:6. He is by your side to give you light because he is the light of the world whoever follows him will never walk in the darkness John 8:12. He is by your side to you rest because he said;"Come to me all you who are weary and burded and I will give you rest Matthew 11:28. He is by your side to give you bread and water because he is the bread of life, he who goes to him will never be hungry and he who believes in him will never be thirsty John 6:35.
As you run to accomplish your mission in this world, know that you are a soldier for Jesus. Be informed that Jesus has already rendered your enemy powerless on your behalf. So do not be dismayed by your enemies roarings. Stick to your mission and use the instruction manual to guide all through the WAY in this world.

You cannot be recruited as a soldier if your hands were amputated. Without your hands it would be very difficult for you to defend and attack your enemy. You will be required to use your hands to shoot and defend. Your hands acts like a shield of protection and so without it you would be very much vulnerable to your enemy.
1. FAITH
Your hands acts like a shield as well as weapon in case of fighting. For example, the hand will instinctively react to defend your body from whatever thing which may try to bring harm to it. The manner in which the hands protect the body is the same way in which faith protects you from attacks of the devil. This is why your physical hands are the expression of your faith. Whatever you believe in God has to be put in action faith without action is dead, Hebrews 2:17.
As a soldier for Jesus Christ, you are on your WAY in this world to fight against invisible forces of evil. You are not to be shaken or disturbed by worry or fear of your enemies instead put your faith in the information and knowledge you have received from the word of God. This is why the Bible says,"Faith comes from the message and the message is heard through the word of Christ."Romans 10:17.
So bear in mind that your faith is not based on the things you see,touch or feel. Your faith is applying the information and knowledge you have received from the word of God in your everyday life and in relation to other people. Faith is the only channel in which you can experience the power of God and it is the only shield you can take up with which you can experience the power of God and it is the only shield you can take up with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one, Ephesians 6:16. Without faith it is absolutely impossible to please God because anyone who come to him must believe that he exist and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him, Hebrews 11:6
You can only touch God by faith when you come to the end of yourself, when you surrender all to Jesus. A woman who had the issue of blood in Luke 8:43-48, she did not look at her state of sickness and weakness physically instead she forgot about her problems and focused her attention on Jesus. She purposed in her her heart that if only she TOUCHED the edge of Jesus' garment she would be healed. Despite the crowd, she struggled her way through until she managed just a single TOUCH to the helm of Jesus' garment. Immediately, her bleeding stopped! Jesus exclaimed,"who TOUCHED me?" Peter replied,"Master, the people are crowding and pressing against you," but Jesus looked around and said again,"someone TOUCHED me, I know power has gone out of me." Then the woman who was healed pulled out from the crowd, trembling. She explained her experience, Jesus said to her,"Daughter your FAITH has healed you, go in peace.
Despite how difficult your situation may be in your WAY in this world, you can only reach God with the hand of faith. You may spend all you have in trying to find healing or fulfillement in life, but until you resolve in your heart to meet Jesus your life will continue to be the same. Its only a touch of faith that will bring a difference. Faith has nothing to do with how you feel, but how you live in response to God's word.

The sense smell helps you to descern between good and bad smells. It also helps to percieve the direction or area from which the smell is coming. In so doing it creates an atmosphere of awareness and sensitivity. Therefore, as a soldier for Jesus, you need to understand the necessity of awareness and sensitivity even as you wrestle against forces of evil.
1. AWARENESS
According to the Dictionary to be aware of something or someone, it means you know about them or are conscious of them, fully informed.
Soldiers on a mission trip passing through a foreign territory must be aware of their enemies. They must be fully equipped and alert all the time in order to attack and defend themselves in case their enemies were hidding in ambush for them. A sense of awareness in war is very important because it keeps soldiers on guard. As a soldier for Jesus Christ, you have to realise that this world is not your permanent home; you are just passing through it. It is a foreign territory where the devil and demons cling in power and authority. It is not an easy WAY to pass freely. The Bible says," Be self controlled and alert, your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour 1 Peter 5:8. The devil roams around like a lion to see if you are not self- controlled and alert. He will not attack if you are fully concious about his presence. Even the strongest lion in the bush does not try to attack its prey when they are aware of its presence. The reason is simple; they would run away. This applies to the devil too! He does not waste time to dare attack you when you are aware of his presence. Even robbers would not rob you when you are aware of their plan, so it is with the devil, he knows you will resist as the Bible says in James 4:7. The devil is very much interested when you are not on guard; he jumps on you like a lion does on a baby antelope.
You can learn from the attitude of some animals when they meet their predators. They are very much attentive so much that they are able to percieve their enemies through the WIND hundreds of metres away. They become alert to defend or to run away.
As a soldier for Jesus you also need to percieve your enemies through the WIND so that you become alert to defend yourself or to run away. In this case the WIND stands for the presence of the Holy Spirit in your life. As you walk in this world of darkness, he helps you to be aware of your enemies. He interprets the situation for you to see whether it is dangerous or not. He speaks to your conscience everytime you meet a suspious situation. He helps you to discern between good and bad spirits.
When you have the presence of the spirit of God in your life people tend to listen with concetration every time you speak the word of God. Without the spirit of God, people will not develop the anxiety to listen. Just like in the natural you develop the appetite to eat everytime you smell a tantalizing smell brought by the air in the neighbourhood; it is the same way the Holy Spirit works, he works like a catalyst on the word of God. He blows on it and makes it interested to listeners. He even helps to convict unbelievers to see the light of the gospel. Without the Holy Spirit you will never preach the word of God effectively for everyone to listen with interest. The Bible says," When he[The Holy Spirit] comes he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgement John 16:8.
The Holy Spirit is with you right now, be sensitive to Him, smell His presence, breath through Him, He will fill you up. He will remind you all about the information and the knowledge you have recieved from the word of God.Therefore your sensitivity to him will open your eyes to see your enemy far away before he tries to attack you.
2. SENSITIVITY
When you are sensitive it means that you are able to feel or respond to stimulus.
When soldiers are attacked by their enemies, they have to retaliate in a quickest possible time. In case of injuries they should not wait to nurse their casualties. Sensitivity is about quick reaction, defence and counter attack. Soldiers who take time to repond after attack are surely asking for more trouble from their enemies. This teaching may appear to be unchristian in that it has a conotation of revenge! This is not about revenge it is about war, it is a reality in the spiritual realm. When the devil strikes you, do not allow the spirit of defeat to grip you down. Stand up fight back. Physically, you will not allow a bee to lie on your body without reacting to it instantly. If stings you, within a flash of seconds that bee should die by your reaction! If you would not kill, one other way of sensitivity is to run away from danger. You may think running away from danger would be a sign of weakness or cowardice and yet it is one of the strogest ways of defence. It is not always wise for you to stand against your opponent even when you know you do not have enough strength to do so. When Joseph sensed the danger about the evil intentions of Portiphar's wife he ran outside the house, Genesis 39:11. Joseph realised he could not help to resist, but he resolved to run away. The lesson is do not play arround temptation, temtation knows no spiritual man if you become careless you will be caught like a rat on its trap!
