A Big Christmas Tree
Monday, 24. December 2007, 22:06:26
This is one of the most surprising trees in the area. It's four hundred years old and if you look closely, you'll see that it's growing apparently out of the pavement
Of course, what actually happened is that they didn't want to cut the old cedar down when paving the sidewalk, which now curves neatly around the huge trunk. It's decorated by a local company. Not the easiest scene to capture on camera, but my original idea of photographing Sirius for this post (the brightest star seemed to tie in nicely with the Star of Bethlehem!) was abandoned due to the clouds
Wishing a safe and peaceful Christmas for all!
-Adele

Nice tree and sorry it's growing out of the pavement,
I hope it won't be damaged
Merry Christmas

Well, it's been this way for at least the last 25 years and the tree is doing fine; the pavement is no worse than many others around here
Have a great Christmas!

I think the tree looks nicer than the official lights put out by the town council!

It must have the largest volume of any tree around here, considering its girth as well as its height. I'll have to get a picture of it in daylight...

It's a great tree. I like it for other reasons too - when it was a sapling, England still had wild wolves!
Happy Christmas / New Year to you too
