Just a Turn in the Road

, ,

You just never know what lies there.

This bend, for instance, arboured by the green arms of beeches, decked on both sides by hilly woodland, could be any on the twisting miles of Surrey's rural lanes.

Except that tonight it had three cubs and a vixen on it! :D

If you look carefully, you'll see that one of the cubs has its paw on its sibling's shoulder, trying to remain dominant at the feed.

I thought they live in so called fox holes but I guess any place is good for dinner :chef:

Stardancer 2. June 2009, 04:37

She looks like a good mama.

A little fuel for the road :D

ERWIN 2. June 2009, 11:52

It's beautiful

Christine 2. June 2009, 13:59

Wow!!! What an incredible sight! You were so lucky to have captured this.

Denis 2. June 2009, 14:48

We have a military joke: War is a war, but lunch should be in time!

Words 2. June 2009, 17:45

That's not the best spot to stop for a quick meal, but what a fabulous moment to witness.

Adele 2. June 2009, 18:18

@Darko - by this age, they're out and about and will feed whenever the vixen will let them! They will be eating solid food as well, though.

Adele 2. June 2009, 18:19

@Stardancer - she does, and I forecast that she will look exceedingly worn out by the end of the summer :faint:

Adele 2. June 2009, 18:19

@Nic - LOL, indeed! :D

Adele 2. June 2009, 18:19

@Erwin - thanks! It was wonderful to see.

Adele 2. June 2009, 18:20

@Christine - definitely one of those "pick the jaw up off the floor and grab the camera" moments! :D

Adele 2. June 2009, 18:20

@Denis - you won't find many foxes who disagree with that

Adele 2. June 2009, 18:21

@Words - it was a huge surprise. I'd just seen the male lying down in some sunshine about fifty yards away, looked up and saw her and the cubs! They ought to be relatively safe on that corner, although hopefully they will stay mostly in the wood.

Jenny Jones 6. June 2009, 18:24

in the road?? what a place!!! lol. still, amazing to see, let alone capture on camera! :D

Adele 6. June 2009, 18:32

Well, it's not really a "road" - just a little woodland lane!

I was just so glad that I actually had the camcorder with me! I really ought to keep it in my pocket all the time.

Neil 6. June 2009, 21:38
