Dusk
The half moon is rising
Foxes lope across darkening fields, betrayed only by their ice-white brush tips
Sub-adult deer tiptoe on cloven hooves out of the hedgerows...
...while their elders graze in the open, unaware or uncaring that they're sharing their meadow with a curious, travelling fox
Dawn
September sunrise
Autumn's hazy light is reflected by a million draping strands of spider silk
And old seed heads have been gifted tiaras of sparkling dew.
And up on the wires and bushtops, my big wildlife surprise of the weekend: a noisy, restless flock of tree (?) pipits, a species I've never recorded in my local area before.

No, the first one is male

Yeah, they are different, but I know that principally because no one fox could have covered that distance in the allotted time

Nice sunrise shot, my favourite time of day although I think i prefer nigh time to day time
No pipits for me
Although plenty of collared doves, my old favourites the crows and there's thousand upon thousand of pink footed geese arriving just now.

This week should be good for spotting Mercury rising just before the Sun rises and just after Venus has risen.
Not a planet we get to see very often, so I think it is something worth a look(a sea view to the east will be best, but if not then as good a horizon as you can find, inland dwellers might need to find a nice hill). Saturn rises just after Mercury, but i doubt we'll see it as it'll be too close to the sun and almost as far away as it gets from us.

The most obvious winter migrants in the North Downs are finches - bramblings, siskins - and thrushes like redwings.
Thanks!

OH aye, Orionids later this month too(20th-24th ish) and with a new moon on the 18th it should be nice and dark compared with this years Perseid shower.

I'm quite fortunate with my deer sightings around my local area but they are often rather shy and elusive creatures.
