Snow Swansong

, , , ,

It's still here, but just an icy crust. We're forecast fog for the next three days left right and I guess we'll have to see what happens after that. In the meantime, here are some photos from earlier in the week that I couldn't fit in previous blog posts.

Final snow word (for now!) belongs to Charlie Brown wink

This is strangely apt. While the North Downs, considerably more lofty than Snoopy's kennel whistle had 45cm of snow over four days, London (or at least central London) doesn't seem to have landed more than a sprinkling; it was falling all day on Tuesday, but settles much less readily there. It's amazing what difference 700 feet of altitude and the urban heat island effect can make!

I just love walking in such places. First, calm and relaxing. Second you can't see things far away, so you concentrate on yourself and your inner side. We receive too much of unnecessary "information" everyday you know.

It looks like Jupiter and his moons are just there, in neighbourhood left Well, I guess they are, in astronomical way of measuring spaces p

Lovely shots. Really like the red and white.
We have another sunny day, with the wind blowing in from the north east like and express train. It brings tears to ones eyes!
The temperature is sitting at about 4. So it's not bad if you can avoid the wind.
Hope things get back to normal for you this week! smile

@Elias - I quite agree. Occasional silence is very important for us and it's hard to find these days!

Thanks! smile It was very pretty. We've still got snow over most of the ground but it's much thinner now. But it's still colder than usual.

Adele BrandSittingFox Thursday, December 9, 2010 9:40:58 PM

@Darko - yes, like a crowd of teenagers hanging around the big guy! right Apparently Jupiter has 63 moons in total king

Adele BrandSittingFox Thursday, December 9, 2010 9:49:15 PM

@Rune - the originals are huge, 15mp each! Is there one in particular that you'd like? smile

Adele BrandSittingFox Thursday, December 9, 2010 9:49:43 PM

@Erwin - thanks! smile

Adele BrandSittingFox Thursday, December 9, 2010 9:51:14 PM

@Robin - I'm not sure what I remember what "normal" is. A little bit of grass is now showing here and there, and treading on it feel so strange! London is snow-free but it almost always is. The North Downs are going to have patches of snow left for quite a while, I suspect.

Thanks! smile

Adele BrandSittingFox Thursday, December 9, 2010 9:53:42 PM

@Adam - thankyou very much! bigsmile

The foxes...well, they're around. They are hard to find in the snow, probably because they avoid the open meadows where the snow is deepest (and also where it's easiest for me to see them!) It's a shame because foxes in the snow do look very pretty! Oh well, I'll keep looking.

Adele BrandSittingFox Thursday, December 9, 2010 9:54:49 PM

@Denis - thanks! smile I'm surprised that that bush hasn't been raided by now!

Adele BrandSittingFox Thursday, December 9, 2010 9:55:52 PM

@Mark - thanks! smile Snow in sunshine always looks wonderful. We had the strange mix of snow and fog here for a while after I took those shots.

Adele BrandSittingFox Thursday, December 9, 2010 9:56:33 PM

@Words - Snoopy is always welcome here wink

Thanks! smile

Adele BrandSittingFox Thursday, December 9, 2010 9:56:48 PM

@Stardancer - thanks! smile

Adele BrandSittingFox Thursday, December 9, 2010 9:57:40 PM

@Steffi - yes, it has been quite hazardous out for the last week. I haven't see any more trees come down, but the pavements are extremely icy. I need ice skates! right

Thanks! smile
