The elixir of immortality is a liquid portion rumored to have the powers to grant eternal life and youth to the drinker. It is associated with the myths of Enoch, thoth and hormes trismegistus all of whom were said to have drank of the Elixir and thus attained eternal life and youth in tales .the existence of the Elixir was mainly insisted upon by alchemists. Alchemists in ancient china , India and Western world spent a great deal of time and efforts on the discovery of the 'precious liquid gold of life' . According to chineese myths and legends emperors sought the portion in other to have etermal life and youth to always be in the corridors of power. Example a chineese emperor Qui shi haung sent Taoist alchemist Xu fu with 500 young men and 500 young women to find the elixir in the oceans .the legends claim that he neither returned nor found the elixer but he rather discovered Japan instead .the ancient chineese believe that the ingestion of longlasting precious substances like Jade , cinnabar or haematite would confer its longnetivity to the drinker. Most of the chineese alchemists therefore assumed that gold being restant to tarnishing might have the secret to the discovery of the Elixir , so attempts were made to prepare gold in such a way that it can be made drinkable but it proved abortive. Mercury ,sulphur and arsenic were also tested but they all produced negative results .infact many emperors died for ingesting these toxic substances .although the indians have their own version of the elixir but don't you think that Youthfulness must fade but if such substances that restores it back and gives eternal life existed would'nt it make one kinda lonely if he or she were to be the oldest person on earth .
