part of having a blog is i think to express yourself and bassically to write what you like [o' for all you book lovers out there check out steve biko's book "i write what i like"...if you don't know Biko do a google or something...shame on you lol.] where was I? O ya so bassically this post is about my favourite music genre...HIP HOP i know allota negative thoughts have just crept into your mind righ? LoL it's cool and i don't blame ya, with all the nonsense being played on the radio and on tv particularly they way women are portrayed and the sensless lyrics! But im not refering to that mannnn! Just read the following lyrics carefully and till the end maybe you'll get a new perception of what is hip hop...i think it's amazing!!!:
[Chorus - Martin Luther King]
(I am happy...I Have a Dream) I got a Dream
(That One Day ) Were gonna work it out out out
(That One Day ) Were gonna work it out out out
(That One Day ) Were gonna work it out
(I Have a Dream) I got a Dream
(That One Day ) Were gonna work it out out out
(That One Day ) Were gonna work it out out out
(That One Day ) Were gonna work it out
(I Have a Dream) I got a Dream
(That One Day) That one day
(That One Day) I'ma look deep within myself
(I Have a Dream) I gotta find a way...
My Dream Is To Be Free
My Dream Is To Be
My Dream Is To Be
My Dream Is To Be Free
[Verse 1]
In search of brighter days, I ride through the maze of the madness,
Struggle is my address, where pain and crack lives,
Gunshots comin' from sounds of Blackness,
Given this game with no time to practice,
Born on the Black list, told I'm below average,
A life with no cabbage,
That's no money if you from where I'm from,
Funny, I just want some of your sun
Dark clouds seem to follow me,
Alcohol that my pops swallowed bottled me,
No apology, I walk with a boulder on my shoulder,
It's a Cold War - I'm a colder soldier,
Hold the same fight that made Martin Luther the King,
I ain't usin' it for the right thing,
In between Lean and the fiens, hustle and the schemes,
I put together pieces of a Dream
I still have one
[Chorus]
[Verse 2]
The world's seen me lookin' in the mirror,
Images of me, gettin' much clearer,
Dear Self, I wrote a letter just to better my soul,
If I don't express it then forever I'll hold, inside
I'm from a side where we out of control,
Rap music in the 'hood played a fatherly role,
My story's like yours, yo it gotta be told,
Tryna make it from a gangsta to a godlier role,
Read scrolls and stow slaves,
And Jewish people in cold cage,
Hate has no color or age, flip the page,
Now my rage became freedom,
Writin' dreams in the dark, they far but I can see 'em,
I believe in Heaven more than Hell,
Blessings more than jail,
In the ghetto let love prevail,
With a story to tell, my eyes see the glory and well,
The world waitin' for me to yell "I Have a Dream"

Today was arguably one of the most hectickest [if thats even a word] days for me. As you may or may not know i'm busy writing my history thesis ,and the due date is nearing. I had a meeting with one of my supervisors a few minutes ago and bassically what our meeting...highlighted was that there was something missing in my thesis...and you know what it is? my own argument or point of view. So after about a years research [reading and writing a million things!] i still don't know what the hell i'm doing! Even though i have a huge amount of information...as my supervisor puts it: whats the point? I certainly agree with the point...so now i have a a few days just to gather my thoughts and somehow come up with an opinion or arguement. So it's goodbye bedtime @ 8pm and hello long nights of caffiene and typing. A guy once said that "I would treat knowledge of history as Plato treated knowledge of geometry: let no man live without geometry for without are sorcerers and dogs." Well i dunno what he's talking about but i'm about to work like a dog for the next few days...and i would'nt mind being a sorcerer either then i would'nt be studying lol. O well at least some good news is that i recieved the results of one of my other research papers...and i aced it yay!!!. Hopefully around this time next week i can say that my thesis is going much better...and by then all the nagging i'm doing in this blog was "much ado about nothing".
To all students who are busy with exams and stuff goodluck!

These are a collection of weirdest news headlines i found, some are actually from the big news publishers in the world. I'm not really an avid reader of newspapers [or the watching tv news] in general and im sure there are some good thing in them. I like reading the classifieds though [particularly the cartoons]. I prefer not being told whats going on in the world... i'll figure it out soon enough [if not too late]. These are just terrible though lol!

writing, stuff, writers, blogs
...
The irony of this blog is obviously the fact that i am attempting to write about my writers block. To me its kinda a silly thing really because you end up doing a large amount of research, or reading on a particular topic [often nights on end] then you sit in front of your pc an start typing, somewhere along the line however you get stuck and your head is just empty and you don't really know what to write next. Bloody frustrating if you ask me. Wonder if people like, shakespeare also had the same problem... lol i can picture shakespeare thinking to himself "to be or not to be" at this point. but hey the guy perservered and is considered as a genius, maybe i should just persevere to hey...and end up being one day considered a genius too!!! well maybe thats pushing it a little bit...i'd be happy just to pass the end of the year. I appologise if i had wasted your time in reading this blog...but in my defence i am suffering with writer's blog at the moment...

This is my first blog and i haven't really taken much time to think about what i'm gonna say. Thank you for reading it though.
My aim in this post, is to share with Y'all something i found on a cd and i hope it will have some significance to you as it did to me. For me it captures the importance of being alive and the importance of the present, wheither things are bad for you or wheither they are good at the moment. if times are hard, remember there's always someone who has burdens 10 times greater than yours, so in a sense be greatful and look at the bright side [even if it is not that bright]. Or if times are good and you feel that you may have everything always remember that we are in a big world with a land of opportunity, so try and spread your good fortune, and you might feel even better than that!!! [i hope im making sense lol]
This blog is dedicated to Anees Benson [My nephew] who passed away a a week and a half ago. He was 12 years old, and actully made me realise how short life is and how valuable it is.
Anyways here's an excerpt from the song i talked about [it's spoken at the end of the song]
Be, be here, be there, be that, be this
Be greatful for life, be greatful to life
Be gleeful everyday, for bein the best swimmer among 500,000
Be-nign, be you, be mom's mean pie, be little black sambo With bad hair
Be aware of what a lynch is, Be, be boundless energy
Be a four star ghetto general, be no one except I
Be a strong academic student, be an A student in sociology
Be food for thought to the growin mind, be the author of your own horoscope
Be invited, be long-living, be forgiving, be not forgetful
Be a proud run, only to return to fight another day
Be peaceful if possible, but justice in ways (?)
Be high when you low, be on time but knowin to go
Be cautious of the road to college, takin a detour through vietnam or the middle east
Be absent of wars at any past or present fought amongst themselves
Be visual of foreclosure over your shoulder while beggin
A nation built on free labor for reperation, Be a cartopogropher
Be a map maker, be able to find afro-american man
search thoroughly it may be close to black man
Be ammended 5/5ths, be ammended 5/5ths human
Be the owner of more land than is set aside for wild life
Be cupid, to world government
Be found among the truth, lost tribe
Be at full strength when walking through the valley
Be not foolish as tender 18 of the mountain tops
Be a brilliant soul, sparklin in the galaxy while walkin on earth
Be loved by God as much as God loved Ghandi and Martin Luther King
Be that last one of 144,000, be the resident of that twelfth house
Be....eternal! [Taken from Common's 2005 Be and the song is called It's your world]
