Dream: Chapter 7 - Discovery

, , ,

"Flight 405 to Tokyo, Japan is now boarding at gate four."

Cho looked down from the TV that was mounted to the ceiling and thought to herself. I hope the weather acts nicely for me today. She stood up and walked towards the gate. Cho was greeted by a lady.

"Good morning there..." She looked at the ticket that Cho had handed her. "Cho!" She swiped the ticket through a scanner. "Alright, enjoy your flight!" And handed it back.

"Thanks." Cho replied as she walked through the gate and into a tunnel. She looked out through the windows as she paced her feet. It was slightly raining outside with the Sun partly shining beyond the clouds. I love it when the weather is like this...I hope it stays for awhile. Cho entered the plane and was greeted by another lady.

"Hi and welcome to United Airways! May I please see your ticket?"
"Here you go." Cho handed it to her.
"Ah, first class, right this way Ms. Nguyen."
"Call me Cho."
"Ok, and...here's your seat. Enjoy your flight!"

"Thanks." Cho sat down on the first class seat. It was too big for her but at least it was comfortable. She reached into her backpack that she had set down beneath her feet and pulled out the letter she had received a few weeks ago.

"I'm homeless in real life, ...and I'm homeless in my dreams too. Great...and I get this weird letter in my dream." She said to herself. "...Why is this dream so vivid?" Cho ran her fingers along the paper's reams, unfolded it and read the letter again.

Cho Nguyen,

Enclosed is a first class ticket to Tokyo, Japan. We suggest that you use the ticket to get yourself to there. Why? We want to help you start a new life, a better one. We can help you. We know what you can do. Once you get there. Go to the address and ask for the name enlisted below.

G.
Epsilon Tech Inc.
7-2, Marunouchi 2-Chome,
Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo 100-8799

"...G, weird name...could be his first initial." She then looked around the cabin and said to herself "Am I the only first class flyer here?" She then began to think to herself..."Why me? ...Do they know?"

"Ahhh!!" yelled Dalton, still screaming as he fell through the sky.
"Dalton!" yelled Aira.
"What?!"
"Shut up!"

He stopped screaming and crossed his arms. "You can tell me to do that in a nicer way!"

Aira pushed on her headset, "All units, we are nearing ground. Activate parachutes and stay close. Radio transmission will be cut off."

Everyone pulled on the red latch and parachutes went up. Dalton forgot which latch to pull and pulled the blue one. His parachute pack flew off his back.

"Gah!" He quickly reached up and grabbed it and immediately pulled the red latch. The parachute shot out of the pack and glided him safely to the ground. "Phew...close one."

"Alright everyone! Gather around me." Aira yelled as she loaded her gun. The soldiers ran and created a circle. The Sun's rays shot onto the sword that was latched on Aira's back and it glistened outward, illuminating rain droplets that were still falling.

Aira continued, "Alright. We are approximately one mile from the opera house. Eagle unit will come with me and secure Clare's location if she's there. Pidgin unit, you guys locate the radar jammer and bring back radio communication. Everyone got that?!"

"Yes sir!" A soldier yelled out.
"I'm a girl."
"Ma'am!"
"I'm still young."
"So then what do I call yo--"
"No time for that, let's move!"

Defense Ministry of Nihon-koku - Tokyo, Japan

"How are the Nest operations going?" The general asked.

"Nest has lost all connections to ground and air forces over the area. Last message received stated they were locating and taking out a radar jammer, sir." Replied a man seated at a desk and tapping on the keyboard.

"Keep me updated."
"Yes, sir."

A door slid open and a man walked in.

"Who are you?" Asked the general.
"I am, appointed by the Prime Minister, the new head of security operations." said the man.
The general asked "Nobuo?"

"Yes. That is my name."

"The only reason your the new head of security is because the old one died, the reason why hasn't been found yet. And your the next one in line, so you got chosen by default. I know the Prime Minister myself, he would never appoint you."

"True, but I'm still head of security. Brief me."

Cho stepped out through the gate and set foot on Tokyo's international airport. "Ok, now to find a cab..." She was approached by a man.

"Konichiwa, Cho-chan. A limo is standing by outside, please follow me." The man said.
"Who are you?"
"I come from G. I'll take you to the address on your letter."

"Oh." She thought he must be one of his minions or something. "Alright, but can I get some water first? The water on the flight was terrible."

"Let me get some for you." The man walked towards a food counter and ordered. "Kudasai mizu." He said.

The clerk replied, "Nanahyaku."

He handed the clerk some money, "Doumo." He walked over to Cho and handed her a water bottle.

She said, "Thanks."

Dream: Chapter 6 - AWACS

, , ,

"Veronica, incoming distress call from Clare." The machine voice said.

Veronica looked up and faced the giant, wall-mounted transparent TV screen. Aira and Dalton walked over behind Veronica's chair. The TV turned on and Clare was on it.

"Veronica!" Clare yelled. "We need some support here, I've got three wounded soldiers and we're running out of ammo!" The message was fuzzed as the transmission wasn't clear, but Veronica and the others got the message.

Veronica put on her headset. "Clare, I'll send troops and supplies to your current location." She tapped on the keyboard. The transmission fuzzed again.

"No no, it's too dangerous here!" Clare yelled as an explosion occurred behind her. "We're two miles from Sydney's Opera House, send them there!"

The three could see downed buildings and smoke behind Clare. Veronica replied, "Roger, Clare. Hang in there!" Another explosion happened and the transmission was cut off.

"Dalton." Veronica started. "This'll officially be your first mission."

"W-what? N-no! No, uh! I haven't..." Dalton exclaimed. "Err, haven't gotten enough training yet!"

"Your time in the Onieronaut has allowed much of the combat program to stick in your head."

"That fast?"

"Yup."

"Wow. Teachers should definitely use this method."

Veronica pushed a button on her headset. "All available units, please report to the briefing hanger." She let go of her headset button and turned around to face Aira and Dalton. "Alright you two..." She said. "Get yourself to the briefing hanger. Personnel will suit you up and send you guys off."

"'Aight." Aira said and walked towards a door. "C'mon, Dalton. We don't have all day." The door open and revealed an elevator. Dalton ran and got in.

"Ok..." He said. "Let's do this."

Briefing Hanger - Onieronaut Headquarters - Tokyo, Japan

"Alright you little dumplings. My name is General Duke. But, there's no time for introductions." He said, pacing around. "Clare, our leader of unit Eagle and her team is stuck in Sydney's Opera House surrounded by unidentified creatures. Your mission is, to safely get these supplies over there and find out what these damned creatures are. Aira, Dalton, you will join unit Eagle, the rest of you, unit Pidgin. Alright, briefing over."

One solider blurted out, "Pidgin?! Come on!"

Dalton turned around and faced Aira, "Well. This shouldn't be too hard right? With our time stopping powers and such."

Aira moved the corner of her hips, "Yea I guess. But, we can't trust on our powers too much. My sister has 'em, yet she's calling for support. Don't under-estimate these things."

A few weapons and armor engineers came over and suited the soldiers with armor and weapons. One started to talk, "Alright guys. You are armed with XF-21 battle armor. It is made to stop most conventional ordinance. Your headsets are linked to Nest, Eagle, Pidgin, and Hawkeye channels. Nest and Hawkeye will be your control center and provide you with up-to-date battle plans and whatnot. Eagle and Pidgin are your unit codenames. Eagle is lead team while Pidgin is the secondary team." He continued on. "Aira, Dalton and you three." He pointed. "Will join unit Eagle along with Clare and her comrades already in the mission. The rest of you are unit Pidgin, and you, my friend are Pidgin lead." He pointed to a soldier. The soldier nodded. He walked over and grabbed a gun. "This 'ere, is the M21A21 automatic rifle. Each clip carries one-hundred twenty, six millimeter bullets. They sound small, but they will explode on contact. Every one nicely briefed?"

Before anyone could saying anything he continued on again, "Alright. On with your mission! Go! Go! Go!"

The soldiers ran into the carriers and they jetted off the runway. Two attack helicopters took off with one Predator, an unmanned observer plane.

A pilot's voice came into everyone's headset, "This is AWACS Hawkeye, we will be providing air battle information. Good luck down there."

Veronica came through the headsets, "This is Nest, I'll be providing satellite battle information. Don't die!"

"This is Carrier one, we are en route."

"This is Carrier two, we are en route."

"This is Hawk one, attack helicopter is en route."

"This is Hawk two, attack helicopter is still waiting for Jimmy."

"Nest to Hawk two, what's the hold up?"

"He's grabbin' a donut, Nest."

Veronica sighed, "For the love of god."

Jimmy's voice came through the headsets, "For a man to properly fight in a battle, he must load up on carbs." He ran into the helicopter, with a jelly donut in one hand. The pilot took off.

"This is Hawk two, attack helicopter is now en route." He said.

Moments later, the airships were three miles from the destination.

"This is Hawkeye, we can't seem to get any data from the area. Looks like radar jamming is in effect. Can you confirm, Nest?"

"Nest to Hawkeye, satellites are negative. Confirmed. Any luck, Predator?"

"Predator to Nest, GPS tells us we are in the area but no data is being received on our end."

Veronica replied, "Damn, it's radar jamming. I'll try to get the ground units to take it down. Nest to Eagle lead, can you hear me?" She asked. No response.

Aira's voice came through the headset, "Looks like we'll have to take it down ourselves in order for air support to be liable."

"Roger that, Aira." Veronica said.

Aira began, "Alright Eagle unit, our top priority mission is to find and secure Clare's location. "Pidgin unit, your mission is to take out the radar jammer."

The soldiers on the plane nodded and some agreed verbally. Soldiers on Carrier two replied in agreement through the headset.

The carrier pilots' voices came on, "We are one mile from the destination, prepare for drop."

"Alright everyone. Once we're down there, all radio transmissions will be cut off! Stay together." Aira said. "Parachutes on and let's go!" She waved her hand over.

"Para-what?" Dalton asked hastily.

"Here put this on." She threw a parachute at him. He reluctantly put it on.

"How do I use it?"

"You pull the red latch to activate the parachute and the blue latch to get it off you when you're on the ground, got it?"

"I guess."

The carrier's hatch opened.

"Ok everyone!" Aira yelled. "Let's go!" She and the soldiers ran off and jumped. Down through the air they went with broad daylight shining on them and a slight drizzle happening.

"Ok..." Dalton said to himself. "Here's to my newly learned combat skills!" He ran and jumped off. Screaming as he fell through the sky.

*AWACS in military terms stands for Airborne Warning and Control System.
*Hawkeye is the codename for Japan's E-767 Hawkeye AWACS aircraft.
*Predator is an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).

C Major / Angela Chang

, , , ...

Once in awhile, there's a song of which touches you in the heart, the mind, and the soul. This song might not be the one since I can't understand a single bit of it. Then, once in awhile, there comes a song of which you put it on repeat for hours and hours and can't stop listening to it. This song, is one of them.

Angela Chang was born on January 19, 1982. She is a Taiwanese pop singer and actress. Her family emigrated to Canada from Taiwan when she was just 12 years old. Chang is the oldest child in her family, she has a sister and a brother. Angela is also one-quarter Uyghur. She attended many singing contests while in Canada, of which she won first place in "BBC Star". Angela started her career after she graduated from Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School in 2000 and became popular after starring as Tian Yuxi in the TV series "My MVP Valentine".

Enough with the short bio, onto the song review. The song, in short, is simply amazing and catchy...and it's not even Japanese or English! I was introduced to the song by my friend Kevin while we were at our friend John's house. He was showing off his Rockband skills and we weren't having a "super fun time" so we hijacked his sister's computer and started Youtube-ing random stuff. Now, this song isn't heavy on the techno or vocoder like most songs I listen to. It's nice, elegant and has beautiful and very catchy vocals. The music video is even better.A+ 1%

Dream: Chapter 5 - Lecture

, , ,

Dalton awoke from his training mission. The machine voice started again.

"You were in suspended animation with your brain active. Please wait while I stabilize your in-body chemicals for non-Onieronaut atmosphere."

A short amount of time later, the Onieronaut door opened, smoke fizzed around it. A pod next to his opened as well. Dalton and Aira stepped out.

He asked, "Hey, where'd you come from? I didn't see you enter the Onieronaut with me."

Veronica walked over. "Remember the girl that was laying on that platform over there? And you asked who she was?"

"Oh yeah...That's why you looked so familiar."

Veronica wrote some stuff on her clipboard. "Dalton. You passed three out of four tests. Consider yourself lucky."

Tilting his head, Dalton said, "How'd I fail the last test?"

"You didn't kill the soldiers."

"I killed one."

"You didn't kill ALL of the soldiers, Aira did."

Dalton put one hand behind his neck, "Heh heh...oops. Well, in my defence, Aira came outta' no where. I didn't ask for her help."

Veronica rolled her eyes, "You could've used your power to save yourself."

"But but, that CMP thing disabled my power!"

Aira walked over to a table with a cup in hand, sat down and took a sip. She started, "He never actually used the CMP."

Veronica jumped in, "That's right."

Dalton quickly got confused, "What? What do you mean?"

"All he did was say to his team members through his radio to use a CMP. You got scared, and quickly assumed it was already used. The lesson to be learned there was not to quickly assume and to not trust all intel you receive. Why do you think I let your headset access their frequency?" Veronica explained.

Dalton moved his lips to one side. "Hmm...guess I shouldn't assume so quickly."

"You should use your brain more too." Veronica said.

"Hey hey, this is my first time fighting people. Ya' can't blame me. Hey uhm, I have a question. Does my power still work when I'm not in the Onieronaut?"

Veronica replied, "Yes. But to a certain degree. You haven't fully harnessed your power. The Onieronaut amplifies your power. But in the Dream world, you'll need to practice more."

Dalton thought then said, "Hmm. Can I practice right now?"

Veronica looked up from her clipboard, "What? Now? No--"

She was cut off as Dalton frozed time. Aira was still taking sips at her tea.

"Uhm...Aira. How are you still moving? Do I need THAT much practice with my power?"

She set her cup down. "Unfreeze time and let Veronica explain. This tea tastes very good."

"Ook." Dalton walked over to Veronica and took her clipboard. He let time flow normally again.

"Oo!" Veronica continued. "Hey, give me back my clipboard!"

He handed back the clipboard. "Sorry, I was practicing. Like you told me." Dalton stuck his tongue out. "I have few questions." He asked.

Veronica set the clipboard down on her workstation and walked over to the beverage area. "Be my guest. Ask away." She grabbed a cup and began making some coffee.

"When I froze time and took your clipboard, Aira was still able to move. How is that? Do I need to work on my power that much?"

"Ah. She hasn't told you yet."

"Eh?"

"Let me explain the whole thing. Have a seat."

The two walked over to Aira's table and sat down.

"Ok. From the beginning..." Veronica took a sip, and stirred her coffee. "In real life, when the human goes to sleep. The brain sends out signals. Trying to establish a connection with the Dream world. Typically, humans can get a fifty percent connection to the Dream world. In which their brain thinks they can do whatever they want. But in reality...or dream-ality, no pun intended. They are just resting in the Dream world."

"I see..." Dalton replied. Seeing the others drink, he got up and got something for himself.

"The Dream world, is basically a future mirror of the real world. I'll explain why that is later. The people in the Dream world, the buildings, everything is real."

"So I entered this world, as you call it. By dreaming?"

"Yes. But your connection to the Dream world is one-hundred percent. Real life humans normally get fifty percent as I said before."

"So all the humans in this Dream world have a one-hundred percent connection?"

Aira chuckled a bit, then took another sip.

Veronica was baffled by Dalton's stupidity. "No no no. Haven't you been listening?"

Dalton got some threw away his tea packet and sat down with his own cup. "Apparently not."

Veronica sighed.

Aira said, "Hey. I was like this when you explained it to me, Veronica. You can't blame him."

"True...true." She replied. "Anyway. The people in the Dream world are REAL. The people from the real world can enter the Dream world."

"That makes a little bit more sense." Dalton raised his glass and took a drink.

"Good. Minds who get a fifty percent or lower tend to get nightmares and might not even dream at all."

Aira tapped on her cup.

Dalton said, "Looks like I've been getting a zero percent connection. I haven't dreamed about anything...'till now. Any reasons why?"

"I haven't got a clue." Veronica said. "But...it's a good thing you're getting a good connection to this world."

"Why?"

"Like Aira. Your one of the few Time Keeper's left."

"Time what-now?"

"Time Keeper. Your able to manipulate and control time at your will."

"That sounds awesome."

Veronica stood up from her seat and walked over to her computer. "But...with great power comes..." She was interrupted.

"Great responsibility. I know I know." Dalton said. "Why in the world, would I do bad things with such great power? I'd be helping people."

"If only that was true for every Time Keeper."

"Hm? How many are there?"

"As far as I know..." Veronica explained. "There are four. You, Aira, Clare and Gackt. The last one I mentioned, has turned sour."

"Who's Clare and Gackt? ...And when you say sour. I'm thinking you mean evil?"

"Your using your brain, Dalton. Great job." Veronica said and tapped on her computer some more.

Dalton rolled his eyes.

"Yes...Gackt has been using his Time Keeper powers for the darker side of things. And Clare is..." She was interrupted again.

"Clare is my little sister." Aira said.

"Thank you for interrupting me, Aira."

"No prob." She replied and took yet another sip of tea.

Dalton asked, "Where is Clare, by the way?"

Veronica started, "She's---" Then got cut off again.

"In Australia." Aira said. "Investigating the events that happened in Antarctica a few weeks ago."

Veronica gave a quick sigh. "You know what, I'll just let Aira explain it to you."

Dalton answered, "Alright then. Why is she in Australia, when it happened in Antarctica? "

"Oook." Aira said. "Predator observations have giving us the info to believe that Gackt has frozen time over Antarctica and taken it over."

"Antarctica? Why that place?"

"Well. Us advancing humans have developed a way to live in harsh conditions. Such as Antarctica."

Dalton raised his cup, "Uh-huh...so?"

"Dalton...people are LIVING there." Veronica exclaimed.

"Ahh...so he froze time over there. Hmm, that's bad."

"What's more bad..." Veronica started.

"Is that he broke the Time Seal over Antarctica." Aira jumped in.

Veronica sighed, turned her chair around and started tapping on her keyboard again.

Dalton asked, "Time Seal?"

Dalton fiddled his fingers and Aira set her cup down.

She said, "A long time ago. Well, a really long time ago. Before time was actually invented, the Time Keepers had a bit of trouble with one Time Keeper. Her name was Ursula. She's Gackt's mother. Ursula, wanted to use her powers to take over the universe."

"That sounds like most bad guys in most stories." Dalton said.

Veronica jumped in, "True."

Aira started again, "Yea...anyway." She took another sip of tea again. "Anyway, Ursula started freezing time over Earth. The other Time Keepers didn't want Ursula to use her powers for the dark side of things. They fought against her. I haven't translated the entire transcript of the ancient ruins in Japan here, but they defeated Ursula. Put her in a deep sleep trance thingy..."

"I suppose Gackt is trying to revive his mother so they, as a family can take over the world?" Dalton asked.

"Dalton. I'm proud of you." Veronica said.

"Why?"

"You're using your brain."

Dalton face went flat and he turned around to face Aira again.

Aira continued, "Exactly. The Time Keepers sacrificed themselves to create a Time Seal of which only allows Time Keepers to use their powers for the greater good. The ruins here in Japan are where they casted the Time Seal. The farther away from the ruins, the weaker the seal gets. He managed to break the seal of Antarctica, who knows where he'll go next."

Dalton questioned, "Hmm...so where is his mother?"

"She was sealed in a meteor, put into a deep sleep and was sent to Saturn's asteroid belt." Veronica answered.

"Pretty drastic." Dalton replied.

"She was powerful." Aira said.

"So we have to prevent Gackt from breaking the time seals, and prevent him to reviving his mother somehow." Dalton said.

"Yes." said Aira. "Thing is, we don't know how he's breaking the seals, and how he's going to awaken his mother. For now, we have to train all the Time Keepers in the world, and get ready for the worst."

Dalton stood up from the table and walked over to Veronica who was still tapping on the keyboard. "You prepping me for another simulating training session?"

Veronica replied, "Nope. Just checking my mail."
