New blog theme / New username

, , ,

It's titled "Rising Sun". Why? I was listening to a good song and just decided to call it that. :rolleyes: Rising Sun could vary it's color depending on seasonal occasions like summer, winter, fall and spring. Maybe even Christmas, Halloween, etc. All I have to do is change the hue on the images to make it the "seasonal color". Rising Sun uses the @font-face selector with the font "Birth Of A Hero" by Last Soundtrack in it's blog title and blog post titles and is currently only viewable in Opera 10. Among other things, I plan to use the #mobmenu selector to showcase songs and albums I think you guys should hear. Rising Sun also uses my self-named "Smile for a Friend". SFAF (ess-faf) utilizes the My.Opera community's smiles and assigns one to a person, based on what they prefer. It'll show up right after the person's name when they leave a comment. Below are current SFAF enabled members.

:sst: My username has been changed from Southern Cross to SouthernCross. Any feeds, bookmarks, etc. that you may have might be affected due to the fact that I don't have "%20" in my URL anymore. Any blog images or in-line URLs in my blog might not show up due to the fact that I haven't update the URL, yet. I am working on that.

Fabula + GAME ON.

, , , ...

Aye'. Another one of my themes is in the works. This time, it's a variant of my "Fabula" theme. GAME ON is a beautiful piece of artwork by DeviantART artist =cartoongirl7. You can have a look-see at the theme here. There are a few problems though. Ever since the banana release of My.Opera, the "Winner" theme has been removed from the design selection page. It's still there, but can't be selected. (Luckily it's there, otherwise Fabula would be broken.) Is there anyone to select that theme?

Fabula

Originally posted by Andrew:

"Fabula" by Andrew Nguyen. "Fabula" means birth in Latin, or atleast, it should mean that. Fabula is a theme based on Fred's "Winner" theme but just more red and sports a little bird in the emblem. Fabula aims to be simplistic while still maintaining beauty.

I just quoted myself. :eyes: So that's how it feels like. P: My new blog design is up, :D. I wouldn't say it is "complete". Well, none of my themes are ever complete. I can always add and fix more. :D The theme uses the font "Corbel" which can be found on most new and some old computers. If you don't have that font installed, it'll draw-back to the original "Georgia" font.

Any problems, suggestions that you see or can make? I'll gladly look over them. :happy:

Opera 9.64 / Opera 10 / Presto → Works fine.

Firefox 3 / Firefox 3.5 Beta 4 / Gecko → FF3 doesn't support text shadow. FF3 Beta 4 works almost works fine, there's a short blank white space under the banner.

Google Chrome 2 / Webkit → Almost everything works fine, there's a short blank white space under the banner too.

Internet Explorer 8 / Trident → Scrolling is jerky, top-half of Navagation bar is cut off, no text shadow but...the banner looks fine! :faint:

Anyone know why webkit and gecko adds a little white space under my banner?

The CSS Wizard!

, , , ...

I sound pretty self-centered when I call myself the CSS Wizard but I have no other blog title in mind. :rolleyes: This blog post is designed to help you with your CSS questions! Ever wondered how I made my blog so beautiful and elegant? (My conceitedness is kicking in. :left:) Just ask a question related to anything about your My.Opera blog and how to customize it with CSS and I will gladly help if I can or PM me. :D Below are some basic CSS codes that you can use to change basic things.

To use those CSS codes, go to (from any My.Opera page) My Page > Design > Custom Style Sheet

Change your blog banner: The normal height and width of the banner is 920(w) x 170(h).
#top2 {
background:url(http://yourwebsite.com/yourdirectory/yourbanner.png);
}

Hide the title and subtitle: Have a banner that just doesn't look right with a title and subtitle? Use this.
#top h1 { display:none; }
#subtitle { display:none; }

The above codes will simply change your blog's banner and it's simple text elements. If you wish to do even more, please ask below. :D

Not too willing to use codes? Try the super easy CSS Generator! :yes:

:sst: I'd like to thank DrLaunch, Tamil and many others for helping me to get started with CSS. :D

My blog's design and your web browser. <2>

, , , ...

My new blog design is up and once again it's time to see how it works with you and your web browser! :D

Internet Explorer 8: I never thought I would say this but, good job Mircosoft on IE8. My blog looks great! The only two problems are that the Top Nav bar's buttons are cut in half and there's no shading of the title and subtitle. :up:

Firefox 3.0.8: Loads fine with no problems except that there's no shading of the title and subtitle.

Google Chrome (1.0.154.53): Also loads fine with no problems except that there's no shading of the title and subtitle.

Opera 10 (Alpha Build 1413): Of course my blog loads fine on Opera 10, used Dragonfly to check for errors too. :yes:

For those of you who still use IE6, you're probably going to see a big white area where the banner should be and a bunch of other problems. :rolleyes: I am not going to fix those for IE6. Upgrade to a better browser like Opera.

Tested under Windows Vista.

Fly away, yo.

My new design is up! I spent around three hours on it... :faint: It is based around the image from kaminary-san titled, "Summer Time 3xD". This theme even comes with it's own "Get Opera" image! :yikes: Enjoy! penguin

:sst: If you find any bugs or something weird looking please tell me!
