As for Polish greetings, you can also say "witaj":) "Cześć" is informal.
"Witaj" isn't super-formal but you can use it in a conversation with someone older whom you're not close to. It's actually imperative form of "witać" - "to greet":)
Teenagers shorten "cześć" into "cze" which is even more informal but very popular (although laughed at by old pricks:P).

"Siema" is a word used for "hello", too although it is actually a shortcut made from: "jak się masz?" - "how are you?" "Siema" itself lost its question-character and functions now as a "cześć" equivalent.

You can also say "niech będzie pochwalony":P Old(er) religious people still use it - it's like Austrian "Grüß Gott" ~"may god greet/bless you".
