Random Fact Of The Month

,

They say that we learn something new every day.
But what happens if, one day, you awake, and there's nothing to be learned?
Who will teach you?
Who will show you the way?
In the name of all that is good and decent in this world of turmoil and streets paved with blood, just who shall lift you up into a haven of fluffy white knowledge?! Who will administer your dose of needed randomosity?
WHO, DEAR GOD, WHO?!!?!

Fear not, citizens, for Kimmie shall provide for one whole day, an entire twelve times a year!

August's fact:

The Bible is the world's most best-selling book.

Incidentally, it is also the world's most shoplifted book.

Competition : Mojo HoHo - Winner

, , ,

Well, the response to this competition was higher than any so far.
To all who entered - Darko, Rosie, Clint, Lydell, Tim, Kitty, Moe, Carol, Mart and David, (Hope I've not forgotten anyone) thank you all for taking the time to create something funny. I hope everyone has enjoyed it. I know I did!

It was hard to pick a winner from 18 images.
So I got each image as a saved page in Opera Mini, and decided on my favourite few. That wasn't too hard, it was choosing from the final cut that was difficult.
It took a lot of time, and finally I got down to two.

Thing is, I really just can't choose between them...
So, there are two winners this time!
One's a motivational, one's a LOLcat, and they're both fantastic.
The winning pictures are as follows: David's entry:
and this one of Kitty's:

Congratulations, both of you. Thank you for making me smile. I'm gonna need your details and I'll get your little prizes off to you sometime this year  . (Sorry, we've got a bit of a backlog here.)

Again, thank you everyone for entering! :D

Grr

Well, I had planned changing my series of random weekly crapola to random monthly crapola, reinventing the old weeklies as monthlies, and introducing a few new sections with it.
But, the problem is that I need images. Googled, downloaded, uploaded again, for such posts... And the thing is, no matter how I download (through Mini, through my native browser) the image quality of anything I download is so severely affected that even 8 megapixel images are of pixelated, blurry quality. I don't like hotlinking to images that aren't in my own accounts anywhere, so until I get a new phone or my computer online, I'm unable to make such posts.
Of course, images I take with my digital camera are different, as I can transfer the image directly to my phone without any loss in quality.

Poop. :sulk:

Completed Kinder Set #2

,

Shortly after completing my first set, I found the last toy I needed for another set. Would you believe it, it's my most favourite set of toys, too!

They're really cute, no? These little critters are actually a game. You see, their heads have big weights in them. Each player places their animal standing up on a flat surface, and blows as hard as they can to topple them over.

It's really easy. What was hard was placing all eight of the toys standing close together for the photo. The slightest tremor, and...

...they all fall down.
:D

My First Win (Yay!)

On the 7th of August I got an email from someone who works for a magazine.
Admittedly, I don't read the magazine, but the website often has free competitions they run every week, and my new hobby is entering competitions.

I had entered a few from this site, and did not expect to win this competition! Now, I don't really need the videocamera, but I was amazed to win - there was only one winner for this competition, and a few thousand entrants - my name got picked outta the hat out of all of them :D !

So, I'm asleep this morning, and I hear the door knock. Bleary eyed, bushy haired and glasses-less, I stumble to the door, open it to a smiling postman who asks if I'm okay, and I get handed a brown box addressed to me.

This is what I recieved:

It's the Flip Ultra camcorder. Made for things like YouTube, it records in VGA. The only options you have are record, zoom, play, watch, delete, and you can record up to one hour of video.

Press the little thing on the side and a usb connector pops out, you plug it into the computer, wait for software to install, and you can pick and choose your video clips to merge into a longer video. Even add a song to it.

It's not exactly cutting-edge (hell, it's nowhere near), but considering it's VGA (0.3megapixel), the video quality is... Well, it's actually pretty good! And the sound recording's really good also.

So, basically, I've got a fun little toy to play around with for a bit. Not bad for my first win, eh?

Completed Kinder Set #1

,

A few weeks ago I finally managed to complete a set of Kinder Toys. A small set, but the first nonetheless.

Fluffy baby dinosaurs, freshly hatched from shiny eggs. I'm not that fond of these, but I was really happy to get that little yellow one!

They're actually pretty cute now I think about it :D

Update Prelude To A Few Updates

Over the last month or so, some great things have happened. I'm gonna post about them in time, but here is a small description of updates to come:
- I completed my first Kinder Surprise collection.
- Then, my second - which happens to be my favourite set of toys ever.
- Some may know I started entering competitions in April, this new hobby is fun and free, I have entered so damn many, and I got my very first win notification friday before last.
- I have made a life decision which is a substantial progression, one I am finally ready and willing to undertake.

Expect posts on the subjects above shortly.
Also, Random Weekly Crapola is evolving into Random Monthly Crapola. Expect new subject matter amongst the old stuff.
Most of all:
I missed you guys.

Futurama's Coming Back!

As fans know, it was cancelled a few years ago. Much better than The Simpsons, but FOX decided it wasn't good enough. I've watched 3 of the 4 feature-length things released since then and been a little disappointed, but the sales of those have helped bring it back! Just like when Family Guy was cancelled, one channel helps to resurrect something great.
Yay Comedy Central!
