A Tiny Comfort

, ,

Both Mik and I have been feeling a little under the weather lately, so today I decided to make a little something for both of us to cheer us up.
Yes, my penchant for tiny food is still going strong - and so, I dug out the tiny crockery and put a tiny amount of my favourite hot chocolate into each tiny cup...
(the lighter's there for comparison...)

And topped our tiny hot chocolates with tinier marshmallows

Cuisine Of The Month

, ,

Food. A necessity of life. You have to eat to live... And some live to eat. Whatever your personal philosophy on food, you cannot deny the importance it has in our lives.

Whether you a little or a lot, it's good to enjoy what you do eat. A good dish feeds not only our bellies, but our souls.

I've taken it upon myself to detail one particular cuisine that appeals to me, once every month.

Why?

Because food is good.

September's Cuisine:

Kimmie's Coffee-Chocolate Chip Muffins
(Makes 12)

Bitter and sweet, moist and fluffy muffins, you either love them or hate them.
You will need:

1 and a half cups (200g) plain flour

1 and a half teaspoons baking powder

Half teaspoon salt

Half cup (100g) margarine or butter

Quarter packed cup (50g) light muscovado sugar

Quarter cup (60ml) milk

Quarter cup (60ml) water

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla essence

1 heaped tablespoon instant coffee

100g dark chocolate chips

Put the milk and the water into a cup or mug, add the coffee and stir until it has dissolved. Set it aside.

Sieve the flour, baking powder and salt together into a bowl and mix. Set the bowl aside, too, for now.

In another bowl, beat the sugar and the butter/margarine together until light and fluffy. Add in the vanilla and the egg, and beat again until thoroughly combined.

Once you've done that, pour the flour mixture into the butter mixture, add the chocolate chips on top, and pour the coffee mixture all over it.

Gently fold all your ingredients together until they are just combined, and spoon into muffin pans.

Bake at 180 celsius for 12-15 minutes.

Once cooled, you can store in an airtight container or freezer. They're best served warm - a few seconds in the microwave does the trick. If you want something extra special, put a scoop of vanilla ice-cream onto your warm muffin and eat with a spoon.
:D

(Yes, yes. *groan* at the title.)
Big thanks to Moe for suggesting this!

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to use this picture of a very mardy Mojee:

And come up with a caption for it.

The rules:
You must use the image above. You may downsize and/or trim it to your needs.
Your caption should appear in LOLcat or Motivational poster form - whether you use simple tools such as photo editing software or a special generator is totally up to you. For motivational entries, here's a useful link to a motivational poster tool that works for both 'puties and phonies: http://diy.despair.com/motivator.php
Either PM your entries to me, or post them on your blog and give me the link. Please do not post in the comments.
You may enter as many times as you wish.
EXTENSION: All entries are to be recieved by 31st August.
Prize depends on who the winner is - I have found some specific things suited to certain people, and others, I've not been so lucky to find personalised stuff for. Don't expect a lot, and don't expect promptness, you know what I'm like - though you know I live up to my word.
Eventually.

Most importantly - have fun, make us all laugh, okay?

Last week we were visiting Grum as we do weekly. Usually we will shop together - sometimes to Asda, sometimes around the shops in the village. I love the shops in her village because they are small, some are independent and many of them stock little things that you just don't see much in the city.

On an errand to post something for Grum, we went into the newsagent. I like the newsagent for a few reasons - the Post Office is handy, the magazine selection is vast, they sometimes have candy I've never seen, and often you'll get to the till and find a small display box containing cheap token gifts, things like keyrings. Which I collect.

Anyway, magazine in hand, we approached the till and a new display box caught my eye.

Inside were small packages containing little "Voodoo Doll" characters on small strings. Of course, my eyes went all wide and shiny, and I quickly ruffled through the different dolls, hoping I'd find That Special Thing So Damn Cute I Have To Have It. (This phenomena occurs often with me: There are collections of things that contain one or two variants that appeal to me above everything else. I find it, my eyes go huge, a smile breaks on my face and the "WANT!" expression shines out.)

Anyway, I found the special one (there's always one, you know) and here she is:

It looks like half cat, half bat. So: KittyBat.

Not What I Had In Mind

Who wants to see a picture of Mik naked?
He left the room with a wink last night, telling me to wait while he put on something he bought for me.
"Fair enough," I thought, eyes bright, anticipating what costume he'd be in, I was soon to see!
I opened the door, and moved all the clutter
And fell to the floor as his wings were a-flutter
What happened to Mik, my strong sexy man?
My camera went "click", I turned, and I ran...

So from this picture you all can now see
This surprise was not what I expected it to be!

Ohmigodohmigodohmigodohmigod!

Just window shopping online through the sales to choose my birthday gift. Looked at over 300 pairs of shoes. All ugly. Except...

I have the worst luck with online stuff - they're outta stock by the time I can buy - so fingers crossed!

And they're on sale!

Because Moe Asked

Here is how the picture I'm sketching is coming along:

Obviously there is still a lot of shading, careful smudging and erasing to be done yet, but this is how it looks so far.
