Blade

I never knew that Blade was a Marvel creation. Silly me...

The first time I saw this film was in 2000, and I was so tired and off my face that the fight scenes went to quickly for me. The last time I saw it was in 2002, and I watched it properly that time. We bought it on DVD while we were on holiday, and we've just watched it again.

This is one of my favourite movies, and the only one of the trilogy that I liked. I don't care what anyone says - the sequels were complete shite. Why? Because Wesley Snipes MORE than proved he was capable of doing his own stunts in the first film, the action sequences were beautifully choreographed, and what did they do? MADE EVERYTHING CG IN THE SEQUELS. I imagine they were aiming for the movements to appear 'supernatural', but the product was that of computer game graphics.

The only thing I liked about the sequels was the casting of Cat (from Red Dwarf - actor Danny John Jules) because it was nice to see him again. They took some quality away from the franchise with the idiotic idea of making everything CG.

I'm not saying that the original Blade is perfect - some of the CG is really crap, but it doesn't deter from the gory excellence it was and STILL continues to be. I love this film, it's a classic.

If there is ANYONE at all out there who's never seen Blade, I strongly urge you to do you. You'll enjoy it immensely - as long as you don't mind vampires and gore - it's a classic no-brainer.

Kimmy's final thought - LOOK at Stephen Dorff! He's so liccle! Ya just want to grab his little chop!

:D

It's also cause it was made for an adult audience. The later films were aimed at getting the kids in so they had lower ratings. Probably the same amount of gore, but less torture and swearing. It detracts from the character to take things like that out.

Little chop? :eyes:

Marcus 15. July 2007, 20:44

I saw the first film but not the sequels because others told me they were not that good. I may break down and rent them one day to see for myself.

Cois 15. July 2007, 22:16

I saw'em all but don't like any one in particular..
Snipes tried a bit too hard to be a bad ass and that bugged me alot..
The last one with Purcell was ok, I liked the alternate endings..

Kimmie 16. July 2007, 06:12

You don't like it??
:eyes:

Kimmie 16. July 2007, 06:15

Marthello, little chop = cheek.

Hi Stomyr.

Hey Marcus, you were well advised, but for some reason I'd advise watching them, I think just to end the trilogy.

Mik, I think you're right. And it probably worked, too.

Cois 16. July 2007, 08:37

Honestly.... a few years back I liked it yes, but as a classic for me a solid no..
As a no nonsense quick action flick I'd watch it any day.. when the moon turns blue..

Kimmie 16. July 2007, 08:39

Tut. No class in the slightest. And I thought you had good taste!
p:
Anyone read the comics?

Cois 16. July 2007, 08:52

No class? Just wait till you get my age.. Then you'll get all classed up!..

Santa Furie 16. July 2007, 09:32

I've been your age. It was hell. Still haven't found an age that was worse the 17 though.

Cois 16. July 2007, 09:37

What happened at 17.. :eyes:

Kimmie 16. July 2007, 09:40

My 17th was crap as well.

Cois 16. July 2007, 12:11

My bad time was 18 till 22 about... don't even ask.. :frown:

Kimmie 16. July 2007, 12:20

Well, I could say 17-20 really. Know the feeling.

Santa Furie 16. July 2007, 14:32

Seventeen is a crap year. Everyone has problems aged seventeen.
:frown:

Cois 16. July 2007, 19:12

ooh! look! Blade is startin up again! p:

theoddbod 17. July 2007, 19:59

My bad year was when I was 19. Oh, and 21. Maybe 14 too.

Santa Furie 17. July 2007, 22:14

You guys are weird. Totally different from normal people like me.

theoddbod 17. July 2007, 22:16

Did I mention 22 and 23?

Santa Furie 17. July 2007, 22:41

Hard life?

theoddbod 17. July 2007, 23:02

Not really. It just felt that way at the time. To summarise : bright kid goes to uni, fucks up degree royally, spends 2.5 years on the dole, gets lucky, gets job, learns his lesson (sort of).

Santa Furie 17. July 2007, 23:37

Who was that then Ted?

Santa Furie 17. July 2007, 23:38

Sorry, seemed like a perfect Dougal moment. Gotta ask, what were ya studying?

theoddbod 17. July 2007, 23:50

Maths :faint: At the time it seemed logical.

Kimmie 18. July 2007, 08:07

I'd respond to this stuff but I'm at a loss and being awkward LOL

theoddbod 18. July 2007, 08:13

:lol:p:

It's all...bygones!

Kimmie 18. July 2007, 08:15

BYGONES! YAY! Who keeps telling you guys I LOVE that word?

theoddbod 18. July 2007, 08:19

I can't imagine
Did you ever check out the fan fiction involving Xena and Ally McBeal that i mentioned somewhere in Blogthings?

Kimmie 18. July 2007, 08:24

NO? I DIDN'T SEE IT!!!

theoddbod 18. July 2007, 08:31

It's probably awful, but there was a staggering amount involving Xena, with just about everybody. I'll post the link again later

Kimmie 18. July 2007, 08:38

YAY please do :D

theoddbod 18. July 2007, 20:05

As requested, here's the link :

http://xenawp.org/crossovers.htm
