Purple Realm

Well, bravo. I thoroughly enjoyed this film. Bruce Willis plays an aged cop called Jack Mosely, kinda deadbeat and useless, sent to pick up a criminal on weapon possession charges, and deliver him to the courthouse.

Sounds simple, no? Well, as Jack stops en route to pick up some booze, all hell breaks loose. The action is pretty much non-stop, with little bits of humour and heartwarming exchanges here and there.

Jack and his criminal have less than two hours to get to the courthouse, and they've got to face a swarm of armed, merciless dirty cops with many a trick up their sleeve - the pace of this is well set, and what's more, it's very realistic. Things get worse and worse for the duo, as time gets shorter.

The ending was rather unexpected, as you'll find out Jack's involvement in the events of that day is moreso than you think.

I actually think the alternate ending is a better one, but that's really because I don't like too much sweetness at the end of films.

The only thing that really bugged me about this film was the criminal, played by rapper Mos Def. His voice made me wanted to scratch out the insides of my ears with a blunt knife.

I hate writing mini-reviews, because I don't like to give away the story, so it's pretty difficult, especially when I've just woken up.

Anyway, good film. Much better than I expected.
