Shark

James Woods , it's like he's permanently on speed. Fast-talking, ever thinking, joking, always moving...

This is Sebastian Stark.

Über lawyer. Ruthless, offensive, crafty... Known to those who know of him as Shark.

Shark is... Interesting. Think a legal version of House. In more ways than one - Stark IS House, down to the total pompous ass characteristics and reputation for being the best, yet extremely difficult... evidence mysteries and seeking out the way to win the case replace medical mysteries... The small collection of young newbies under his charge... It's very similar. I am besotted with House, it's one of my favourite things to watch, and I feel the same way about Shark.

Woods is in his element here, he plays know-it-all narcissist down to a T, and he makes for excellent viewing. Of course, for me, a dramatic show is nothing without its humour, and it doesn't disappoint there, either. What's also interesting is that ruthless though Stark is, so far the cases are fought on the side of truth and justice, even though he often intends to fight dirty and does...

I'd heard very good things about this, and I'm glad we decided to rent this first season on DVD. Worth a watch, if House is at all your thing.

James Woods is such a cool actor!

Robert Hurley 16. April 2008, 15:05

Did you ever see him in The Boost? It's hysterical!

The Dark Furie 16. April 2008, 15:58

I've got James in one of my upcoming posts, but it's not about acting. He plays this brilliantly. His character isn't played as sympathetically as Hugh Laurie plays House, so he can't be excused as much as House is. But everyone loves a sarcastic bastard when they're on the right side (else I'd have no visitors ever), and this is something both characters excel at. I've seen a lot of James Woods films in the past and he's never played a role quite like this. It suits him to the ground.

You have visitors? I thought your blog was the black hole of Opera!

Tilla - he really is! I'd never really recognised him before he was on Family Guy, though...

Rfhurley - never heard of it. What's the blurb for it?

Mik - yeah, not as lovable as House, but just as fun.

Dennis - nice burn! p: .

Rose - I really like the guy too, and yeah, it's like the role was written for him!

James Woods is strung out on coke (yeah, I know it's redundant). Sean Young plays his wife in the movie, and reportedly became his stalker in real life.

Two emphatic spoons up!

Hmmm... Sounds interesting (both fiction and real-life) I'll look that up. Thanks!
