Fixed... To a degree

,

Mik figured out what was causing all those errors with Mini on my phone, and told me how to change it. It's worked - pages actually load rather than error out and mess up. Drawback is that I've had to change the protocol to http - it's so. Damn. Slow.
So, I can actually do my watch list, it's just taking forever. I figure if I switch networks I'll be okay. Just gotta wait until I've got the money to do so.
I still need an upgrade - phone playing up with other things, but I use it for online purposes the most so at least that's okay, I'm not desperate for a new phone now, at least.

Yay! You've managed to fix it (partially).

Can't wait for you to be properly fixed so you can be back at full speed.

Misses youses.
Well, not me personally, of course. I don't miss anyone. :left:

Cois 31. May 2009, 10:36

Socket is faster yeah although mine changes at random automatically .
Now do them watchlist p:

Aadil 31. May 2009, 12:08

Damn networks. :irked:

Doesn't 'percussive maintenance' work? That's what I'd do ...

The Dark Furie 31. May 2009, 12:34

Another Al in the making.

I had a monitor that worked with percussive maintenance once. Seriously - when it started flickering, a good bash on the side would not only get it working again, but annoy the neighbours, too!

Kittylicious 31. May 2009, 14:03

Cool that it works at least at some level.

I've missed you too! :love::heart:

No socket? On this phone, Socket only works with Mini if i use the native browser to load a page first - Mini won't open the connection for some reason.
I had a PC sound card once that only worked if you wedged it in place with a small stone and Blu-Tac, then wiggled it just right.

Moe - "properly fixed" will hopefully only entail a new SIM as far as web's concerned. Hopefully 3's seemingly better coverage will stay - the benefits of that network not only stop the errors in mini, they save me around £10 a month thanks to their cheap web passes.

Clint - mine never used to change.. Weird. Seems like I'm stuck with this crappy protocol for a while, but, hey, at least I can see what's on a page now.

David - tried and tested, my friend, tried, tested and failed. Percussive maintenance is usually number 3 on the list of methods, after complaining and shouting.

Aadil - indeed. I really should start saving up so I can get my desktop online. It'd be a helluva lot easier really.

Kitty - yeah, thanks to Mik. I can actually see stuff *weeps with joy*

Mart - No, it's socket that's causing it, to some extent. Well, it's changing the protocol that stopped the errors (although I've been solely using that for over a year and no errors before now. Hmmm.) A small stone and blu-tac? How the hell did you think that one up?

Darko 31. May 2009, 14:57

Nice to see you again, hope it will work until you get on line with PC.
And, yes, Mart how did you think that one up? :eyes:

Aadil 31. May 2009, 18:00

I've seen tv's repaired with chewing gum and cellotape. :insane:.
Once I found a tv's knob repaired with a match stick and a blob of prestik. (prestik is what Bostik calls 'blu-tac' over here.)

theoddbod 31. May 2009, 19:44

Well, first the connection was slightly loose and didn't need much force to keep closed. Then it seemed to need more, so i wedged the stone in. The stone wouldn't always stay put...so i added Blu-Tac. It worked like that for about 3 years until i replaced the PC.

Basically the network is beyond shaky at the moment and is doing it's stop/start/stop data transfer thing, to an extent that the java manager is thinking that the connection has been closed when it hasn't causing error messages to pop up and it's those that are stopping most pages from loading fully. In short, warning about a possible error is the error we've been encountering.

Dacotah 31. May 2009, 22:12

Glad it's working better.
Miss you.

Cool, Mart! .

Thanks Carol

Dacotah 31. May 2009, 22:19

You are welcome Kimmie.
I'm just going to send you a pm.

r♡se 4. June 2009, 20:31

Looking at the title of the next post, I'm thinking the fix is no more? awww

The Dark Furie 4. June 2009, 22:33

It works but it's too much of a pain to use all the time. We keep having to cut our connections cause they just stop working. Cut down both our usage. We'll be moving networks again soon enough though.

r♡se 5. June 2009, 08:07

So you're having the same problelm?

The Dark Furie 5. June 2009, 09:15

Yeah, but I'm more stubborn and more patient. It's really getting to Kim. Spending five minutes trying to get to your inbox just to find out some twat you don't know has sent you a smiley was kinda the last straw for her.

Aadil 6. June 2009, 19:13

That I understand. :left:.
Even without network problems that gotta be beyond annoying! :irked:.
