Purple Realm

Grr

Well, I had planned changing my series of random weekly crapola to random monthly crapola, reinventing the old weeklies as monthlies, and introducing a few new sections with it.
But, the problem is that I need images. Googled, downloaded, uploaded again, for such posts... And the thing is, no matter how I download (through Mini, through my native browser) the image quality of anything I download is so severely affected that even 8 megapixel images are of pixelated, blurry quality. I don't like hotlinking to images that aren't in my own accounts anywhere, so until I get a new phone or my computer online, I'm unable to make such posts.
Of course, images I take with my digital camera are different, as I can transfer the image directly to my phone without any loss in quality.

awww
I know it is a stupid question - but is it because you've set Opera Mini to use low quality images? Doesn't explain why the native browser would be so pixelated though. o

Personally, I prefer hotlinking to the original source. That way, no one can think that I'm trying to take credit for someone else's images. Also gives the original source a paper trail to follow to find the post that I found the image suitable for. yes

KYrenKYren Friday, August 28, 2009 6:23:29 PM

Kim, you are looking beautiful in your new profile photo. smile

Dark FurieFurie Friday, August 28, 2009 6:24:06 PM

It's the data transfer rate.

Spaggyj Friday, August 28, 2009 6:29:14 PM

Moe - I suppose hotlinking is actually more polite... Right? Maybe I'll do that, and give credit by linking to the sites at the end of the post! Mik already answered your question, so... Yeah. bigsmile

Kiran - nice to see you around again! And thank you, it's my first makeup-free profile picture happy

Moesring Friday, August 28, 2009 6:51:56 PM

I suppose hotlinking is actually more polite... Right?

Well, that's the way I see it... but I know of at least one site that actually tells visitors to download the images and put them on their own site. After all, if you only hotlink then your visitors have to download the picture from its original source (rather than from here).

Some web hosting services impose fairly restrictive limits on their customers - and those subject to such limits often do not approve of having their limits used up by people who haven't even visited their site (directly).
Particularly if the linking site is much more popular than their own site and so their limit is woefully inadequate to deal with such demand. o

All in all, it is actually something of a no-win situation. awww

KYrenKYren Friday, August 28, 2009 6:53:53 PM

You are really beautiful, Kim. smile
Had a lot of work to do here. We moved into a new apartment. I changed my mobile operator. I am on BSNL CELLONE.
Now, I am here only to complete the posts I have been talking about.

Spaggyj Friday, August 28, 2009 6:55:43 PM

Mik's just taught me how to display the url link on the picture, so I should be good to go now happy !

Spaggyj Friday, August 28, 2009 6:56:27 PM

Well, Kiran, thank you. And don't let me take up any more of your time smile

Moesring Friday, August 28, 2009 6:56:52 PM

:yay:

Spaggyj Friday, August 28, 2009 7:02:38 PM

bigsmile it's gonna be a while to compile, but hooray party

KYrenKYren Friday, August 28, 2009 7:06:09 PM

Ok, bigsmile but to me, talking with friends like you is not a waste of time, Kim.

Moesring Friday, August 28, 2009 7:09:58 PM

Would you say that this hooray-ness is worthy of Minstrels? :Minstrels:

Spaggyj Friday, August 28, 2009 8:40:53 PM

Kiran - you seem busy, just didn't want to waste your time when you've planned important posts bigsmile . So how's the new place, then?

Moe - I should say so p .

Dacotah Friday, August 28, 2009 9:12:32 PM

x

Cleanclean Friday, August 28, 2009 9:53:29 PM

Ha! Take that, difficult images! wink

KYrenKYren Friday, August 28, 2009 10:51:06 PM

The new place is nice. But it's a bit in the outskirts of the city.
Kim, I don't have any zeal to write the posts anymore. I will write the posts just bcoz I had promised some of my friends that I will write them.

Bad WolfCois Saturday, August 29, 2009 12:13:33 AM

What's going on? p

KarenNerak Saturday, August 29, 2009 3:44:12 AM

Well, that totally blows ass! What a pain. down

KittyliciousZaphira Saturday, August 29, 2009 4:01:34 AM

*settles down and waits for all the pwetty pictures to show up* happy

Darkogdare Saturday, August 29, 2009 6:12:55 AM

leftright

Spaggyj Saturday, August 29, 2009 7:44:03 AM

Post seems a bit redundant now, doesn't it? lol .

Hey Carol heart .

David - indeed! knight .

Kiran - I always liked the outskirts of places. Dunno why. If you've no particular desire to write the posts, then wait. You will eventually find your zeal. They'll turn out better when you're enthusiastic again up .

Karen - Yup, but it's actually easier for me to do what Moe and Mik do, so... Yay bigsmile .

Kitty - it's funny you say pretty pictures... lol just you wait p .

Dark - don't worry dude, the confusion's over p

Bad WolfCois Saturday, August 29, 2009 8:09:50 AM

awww

KYrenKYren Saturday, August 29, 2009 8:37:10 AM

Yeah, outskirts are beautiful and quiet generally. I would have shot a video of the apartment but E71's camera is a crap. I should have bought an Omnia instead.

Spaggyj Saturday, August 29, 2009 9:03:30 AM

Or you could just buy a digital camera - it's much cheaper that way up

MarikeMarike79 Saturday, August 29, 2009 10:03:52 AM

So that means you will be posting soon?

Spaggyj Saturday, August 29, 2009 10:15:38 AM

Yeah, hopefully I'll get my monthly posts arranged soon up

MarikeMarike79 Saturday, August 29, 2009 10:29:46 AM

Great something to look forward to happy

MarikeMarike79 Saturday, August 29, 2009 10:30:30 AM

Btw will that be August or September? No pressure p

Spaggyj Saturday, August 29, 2009 10:37:03 AM

Probably September, seeing as it's only two days away lol

MarikeMarike79 Saturday, August 29, 2009 10:40:08 AM

lol cool p

KYrenKYren Saturday, August 29, 2009 11:44:30 AM

I like convergence. It's very important to decide what exactly you want before you go shopping. doh
See you in September then or will you be here daily just like me? bigsmile

Dacotah Saturday, August 29, 2009 11:46:28 AM

Hiya Kimmie heart

Spaggyj Saturday, August 29, 2009 12:15:46 PM

Sometimes it's best to focus on seperate things, though. You'll find you need to upgrade less that way, anyway bigsmile . I'm here every day, just not starting the monthly posts til next month p .

KYrenKYren Saturday, August 29, 2009 12:38:23 PM

I like commenting. I post once a year or don't post at all.
Excluding shaving razor, I like carrying my computer, calculator, camera, mp3 player, books, phone, tv, and mailbox in just one device. p I will buy an Omnia or N97 type phone next time.

Spaggyj Saturday, August 29, 2009 1:01:19 PM

But that way you need to spend a fortune on something you'll feel the need to upgrade a year later faint

r♡serose-marie Saturday, August 29, 2009 6:01:03 PM

Yay, random weekly crapola saved! bigsmile

Spaggyj Saturday, August 29, 2009 6:05:44 PM

And changed bigsmile

r♡serose-marie Saturday, August 29, 2009 7:16:39 PM

Looking forward to it yes

KittyliciousZaphira Saturday, August 29, 2009 8:23:30 PM

I love your status sweetie! yes

Spaggyj Saturday, August 29, 2009 8:51:36 PM

Rosie - me too, actually! I've written all four for next month already happy .

Kitty - that's great, cause it's true wink

KYrenKYren Monday, August 31, 2009 1:51:16 AM

Right , that's why it's important to decide what exactly you want before you go shopping. I want a phone with good multimedia, desktop-browser-like browser, 3.5 inch screen , 5 mp camera is sufficient. If I got such a phone I wouldn't need to upgrade it for 5 to 6 years or till it stops working.

Mad Scientistqlue Monday, August 31, 2009 7:27:47 AM

It was going to cost me too much to upgrade my phone so I bought a netbook instead. left.
It's easier to do some things on that but you can't really carry it around with you unless you use the same tailor as Bozo the Clown. :clown:p.
Mik's Samsung is more powerfull. left.

Spaggyj Monday, August 31, 2009 8:43:04 AM

Thing is that desktop-like browsers on phones not only take a lot of time to load a page, but they'll cost a hell of a lot in data.

KYrenKYren Monday, August 31, 2009 12:23:48 PM

bigsmile I want a worldwide WiMAX network also. I could surf using WiFi for a few days. It seems there's a WiFi router some where in this building but I get just 30% maximum signal strength. I don't know why I am not getting the signals now.

Spaggyj Monday, August 31, 2009 12:31:17 PM

Ah. It'd still take quite a while to load a page, though. There's only so much a little screen can display.. Using desktop-like browsers is always slow and frustrating for me.

Dark FurieFurie Monday, August 31, 2009 1:31:42 PM

Wi-Max doesn't cut it.

Mad Scientistqlue Tuesday, September 1, 2009 7:02:41 AM

The smartbooks might provide what you're looking for KY, left.
Not quite a notebook, more than a smartphone. up.
My Netbook cost less than my phone. lol.

KYrenKYren Wednesday, September 9, 2009 3:31:27 AM

Do use your phone as a modem for your netbook, Qlue?

Mad Scientistqlue Thursday, September 10, 2009 9:29:59 AM

Yes I do. I've also switched to Ubuntu rather than the Linpus Linux Lite that was on it. up.
Linpus just needs too much 'tweaking'

Moesring Thursday, September 10, 2009 10:53:17 AM

Linpus is just awful. up It was an option that could have been pre-installed on my netbook. yuck
(I could either get Linpus or Windows XP. The XP version was more expensive but actually came with a hard drive - the Linpus version used memory cards for storage. rolleyes)

I was already turned off Linpus when I once saw someone else with it on their laptop in a lecture theatre. Of course, said individual was subjected to a lot of ridicule for using Linpus. p

pssst First thing I did was take off Windows XP and put Debian on. happy
