Grr

Well, I had planned changing my series of random weekly crapola to random monthly crapola, reinventing the old weeklies as monthlies, and introducing a few new sections with it.
But, the problem is that I need images. Googled, downloaded, uploaded again, for such posts... And the thing is, no matter how I download (through Mini, through my native browser) the image quality of anything I download is so severely affected that even 8 megapixel images are of pixelated, blurry quality. I don't like hotlinking to images that aren't in my own accounts anywhere, so until I get a new phone or my computer online, I'm unable to make such posts.
Of course, images I take with my digital camera are different, as I can transfer the image directly to my phone without any loss in quality.

Poop. :sulk:

awww
I know it is a stupid question - but is it because you've set Opera Mini to use low quality images? Doesn't explain why the native browser would be so pixelated though. :o:

Personally, I prefer hotlinking to the original source. That way, no one can think that I'm trying to take credit for someone else's images. Also gives the original source a paper trail to follow to find the post that I found the image suitable for.

KYren 28. August 2009, 18:23

Kim, you are looking beautiful in your new profile photo.

Furie 28. August 2009, 18:24

It's the data transfer rate.

Spaggyj 28. August 2009, 18:29

Moe - I suppose hotlinking is actually more polite... Right? Maybe I'll do that, and give credit by linking to the sites at the end of the post! Mik already answered your question, so... Yeah. :D

Kiran - nice to see you around again! And thank you, it's my first makeup-free profile picture

Moesring 28. August 2009, 18:51

I suppose hotlinking is actually more polite... Right?

Well, that's the way I see it... but I know of at least one site that actually tells visitors to download the images and put them on their own site. After all, if you only hotlink then your visitors have to download the picture from its original source (rather than from here).

Some web hosting services impose fairly restrictive limits on their customers - and those subject to such limits often do not approve of having their limits used up by people who haven't even visited their site (directly).
Particularly if the linking site is much more popular than their own site and so their limit is woefully inadequate to deal with such demand. :o:

All in all, it is actually something of a no-win situation. awww

KYren 28. August 2009, 18:53

You are really beautiful, Kim.
Had a lot of work to do here. We moved into a new apartment. I changed my mobile operator. I am on BSNL CELLONE.
Now, I am here only to complete the posts I have been talking about.

Spaggyj 28. August 2009, 18:55

Mik's just taught me how to display the url link on the picture, so I should be good to go now  !

Spaggyj 28. August 2009, 18:56

Well, Kiran, thank you. And don't let me take up any more of your time

Moesring 28. August 2009, 18:56

:yay:

Spaggyj 28. August 2009, 19:02

:D it's gonna be a while to compile, but hooray :hat:

KYren 28. August 2009, 19:06

Ok, :D but to me, talking with friends like you is not a waste of time, Kim.

Moesring 28. August 2009, 19:09

Would you say that this hooray-ness is worthy of Minstrels? :Minstrels:

Spaggyj 28. August 2009, 20:40

Kiran - you seem busy, just didn't want to waste your time when you've planned important posts :D . So how's the new place, then?

Moe - I should say so p: .

Dacotah 28. August 2009, 21:12

x

clean 28. August 2009, 21:53

Ha! Take that, difficult images!

KYren 28. August 2009, 22:51

The new place is nice. But it's a bit in the outskirts of the city.
Kim, I don't have any zeal to write the posts anymore. I will write the posts just bcoz I had promised some of my friends that I will write them.

Cois 29. August 2009, 00:13

What's going on? p:

Nerak 29. August 2009, 03:44

Well, that totally blows ass! What a pain.

Zaphira 29. August 2009, 04:01

*settles down and waits for all the pwetty pictures to show up*

gdare 29. August 2009, 06:12

:left::right:

Spaggyj 29. August 2009, 07:44

Post seems a bit redundant now, doesn't it? .

Hey Carol  .

David - indeed! :knight: .

Kiran - I always liked the outskirts of places. Dunno why. If you've no particular desire to write the posts, then wait. You will eventually find your zeal. They'll turn out better when you're enthusiastic again  .

Karen - Yup, but it's actually easier for me to do what Moe and Mik do, so... Yay :D .

Kitty - it's funny you say pretty pictures... just you wait p: .

Dark - don't worry dude, the confusion's over p:

Cois 29. August 2009, 08:09

awww

KYren 29. August 2009, 08:37

Yeah, outskirts are beautiful and quiet generally. I would have shot a video of the apartment but E71's camera is a crap. I should have bought an Omnia instead.

Spaggyj 29. August 2009, 09:03

Or you could just buy a digital camera - it's much cheaper that way

Marike79 29. August 2009, 10:03

So that means you will be posting soon?

Spaggyj 29. August 2009, 10:15

Yeah, hopefully I'll get my monthly posts arranged soon

Marike79 29. August 2009, 10:29

Great something to look forward to

Marike79 29. August 2009, 10:30

Btw will that be August or September? No pressure p:

Spaggyj 29. August 2009, 10:37

Probably September, seeing as it's only two days away

Marike79 29. August 2009, 10:40

 cool p:

KYren 29. August 2009, 11:44

I like convergence. It's very important to decide what exactly you want before you go shopping. Homer: Doh!
See you in September then or will you be here daily just like me? :D

Dacotah 29. August 2009, 11:46

Hiya Kimmie

Spaggyj 29. August 2009, 12:15

Sometimes it's best to focus on seperate things, though. You'll find you need to upgrade less that way, anyway :D . I'm here every day, just not starting the monthly posts til next month p: .

KYren 29. August 2009, 12:38

I like commenting. I post once a year or don't post at all.
Excluding shaving razor, I like carrying my computer, calculator, camera, mp3 player, books, phone, tv, and mailbox in just one device. p: I will buy an Omnia or N97 type phone next time.

Spaggyj 29. August 2009, 13:01

But that way you need to spend a fortune on something you'll feel the need to upgrade a year later :faint:

rose-marie 29. August 2009, 18:01

Yay, random weekly crapola saved! :D

Spaggyj 29. August 2009, 18:05

And changed :D

rose-marie 29. August 2009, 19:16

Looking forward to it

Zaphira 29. August 2009, 20:23

I love your status sweetie!

Spaggyj 29. August 2009, 20:51

Rosie - me too, actually! I've written all four for next month already  .

Kitty - that's great, cause it's true

KYren 31. August 2009, 01:51

Right , that's why it's important to decide what exactly you want before you go shopping. I want a phone with good multimedia, desktop-browser-like browser, 3.5 inch screen , 5 mp camera is sufficient. If I got such a phone I wouldn't need to upgrade it for 5 to 6 years or till it stops working.

qlue 31. August 2009, 07:27

It was going to cost me too much to upgrade my phone so I bought a netbook instead. :left:.
It's easier to do some things on that but you can't really carry it around with you unless you use the same tailor as Bozo the Clown. :clown:p:.
Mik's Samsung is more powerfull. :left:.

Spaggyj 31. August 2009, 08:43

Thing is that desktop-like browsers on phones not only take a lot of time to load a page, but they'll cost a hell of a lot in data.

KYren 31. August 2009, 12:23

:D I want a worldwide WiMAX network also. I could surf using WiFi for a few days. It seems there's a WiFi router some where in this building but I get just 30% maximum signal strength. I don't know why I am not getting the signals now.

Spaggyj 31. August 2009, 12:31

Ah. It'd still take quite a while to load a page, though. There's only so much a little screen can display.. Using desktop-like browsers is always slow and frustrating for me.

Furie 31. August 2009, 13:31

Wi-Max doesn't cut it.

qlue 1. September 2009, 07:02

The smartbooks might provide what you're looking for KY, :left:.
Not quite a notebook, more than a smartphone..
My Netbook cost less than my phone..

KYren 9. September 2009, 03:31

Do use your phone as a modem for your netbook, Qlue?

qlue 10. September 2009, 09:29

Yes I do. I've also switched to Ubuntu rather than the Linpus Linux Lite that was on it..
Linpus just needs too much 'tweaking'

Moesring 10. September 2009, 10:53

Linpus is just awful. It was an option that could have been pre-installed on my netbook. :yuck:
(I could either get Linpus or Windows XP. The XP version was more expensive but actually came with a hard drive - the Linpus version used memory cards for storage.)

I was already turned off Linpus when I once saw someone else with it on their laptop in a lecture theatre. Of course, said individual was subjected to a lot of ridicule for using Linpus. P:

:sst: First thing I did was take off Windows XP and put Debian on.
