Purple Realm

Life and Stuff and Things and Junk

, , , ,

Ha, I said "junk" *giggles*

Ahem. Well, I can't be bothered to divide up my ramble with smileys, so deal with it rolleyes .

There's actually nothing particularly noteworthy in events to report, but that's not really new, is it? Gran came to see us on Friday, and that, of course, was fun. I made a batch of chocolate pretzels especially for that visit, and she loved them.
She also made me watch the second Twilight film.
Eh. Now, she loves Twilight very much, so I will sit through the movies and discuss the books. It brings her a lot of happiness. But... I'm glad the movie ended... Eventually lol .

Friends. Hm. I've let a few go. Not since my last notifier, so don't worry. But some didn't seem to realise it until recently.
I feel a little bad, sure. But I'm not gonna be guilted into feeling terrible. Who sees and does not see my friends only posts is my jurisdiction, and if I feel uncomfortable with certain people then it's neither my nor their fault. It's just how it is and that's that.

Another friend issue, a lot of them are away. Some seem to be indefinite, others pop in when they can. It's not a problem, but sometimes you have to wonder if they're okay. But we're all adults here (some moreso than others) and that's online life for you. And offline, actually. Their worlds revolve around themselves just as ours revolve around us. *shrugs*

Personal kinda stuff, well, things are... Eventful. We'll leave it at that.

I'm not loving the way kids are elongating words online. In fact, it really annoys me. Stuff like "oh yeahhhh that was reallyyyy funny lol" and variants of. The ones that bug me the most are words ending with e. It goes on forever, like "are you talking to meeeeeeeeeeeeeeee?"
I mean, come on. You want to seem stoned or something? It'd be more convincing if you tried to eat your fucking keyboard.

I've given up with trying to deter the sad lonely male population of MyOpera. I've tried everything. My about page specifies my relationship status and my contentment within it. I've ranted. And hey, take a look to the right of the page (or the bottom if you're a phonie). That picture was selected for its' silliness in particular. But, no. Not deterring. Still, doesn't take long to click to refuse a request. The persistent ones get blocked. Easy smile .

My favourite Spongebob pyjama bottoms have a tiny hole in the leg sad .

On that note, I'm almost always in a combination of Spongebob and Hello Kitty attire lately. How Mik can even look at me I don't know lol .

Ooh, total food craving of this particular time has got to be cheese-topped soft white bread rolls. Asda sell them, and while they're not the healthiest thing, they're so, so soft and delicious with tomato soup.

We got season 3 of 30 Rock last week. Very funny. One of my favourite tv shows. It's really something you either get or don't get, though, it seems.

Ok, I'm bored now. Whatever's left of my friend list may go about their lives once more.
Whoever's not on it, thanks for reading. (And regulars, you've been officially spotted thanks to my more bored days where I like to correlate random data together.)
Or something. That either made me sound clever or stupid. Possibly both.
Eh. *leaves*

I saw about 20 minutes from the first and 5 from the second - it was enough - lol - seems you have more nerve for it than me bigsmile

Personally I've been incredibly busy as I've became a head of a research group, and for a while we had the chance to get to Singapore - apparently due to an outer mistake we have to "stay home", but we always have to work on 110% and it usually gives me close to no time to get here. I'll write about its public part when I have time - hopefully by Next Friday i will have more free time.

He can look at you coz he loves you? p

Gavin Tripp-Sheedygarlingmatthews Monday, April 12, 2010 4:07:47 AM

Teens will always do stuff with words, and post teens will find it irritating. It's the natural order.

I pruned my facebook, and people got really upset. But really, one doesn't want every-one reading everything.

Martin K™Aqualion Monday, April 12, 2010 4:38:52 AM

Saw the first Twilight movie, because my step-son wanted to see it, and was much surprised. It was actually better than I had expected. However, I do find the modern vampire - being it Ann Rice or this Twilight thing - rather far out. To me the idea of immortal antropomorphous beings who would hunt people down and drink their blood is not excactly romantic. Romancing evil is not productive in any way.

Sorry to hear about your pyjamas. I have the same problem with my favorite slippers. I have to dispose of them and get me some new ones. That is so sad.

FlaRin Monday, April 12, 2010 5:18:24 AM

Do you get 'My Name Is Earl', Kimmie?? (I mean - do you see it)?? For a while I thought that was essential too smile

I can't be arsed with facebook, to be honest.... smile

KittyliciousZaphira Monday, April 12, 2010 6:19:58 AM

About the friends lists - it's a returning issue for us who don't just let everybody in. And it seems to be a problem for some to not be on it - but honestly, it's not that we're only talking with the people on the list. There are a few people that I'd really dislike not having on my friendslist though. smile

theoddbod Monday, April 12, 2010 7:19:23 AM

Hey, I found that word stuff irritating even when I was a teen...indeed, anything that isn't properly spelt has always bugged me p

Spaggyj Monday, April 12, 2010 7:45:25 AM

Stomyr - I watch it because she likes it. I don't have to like it but I try to show an interest in the things she likes, even if I hate it.
Shame about the cancelled Singapore trip, I'll look forward to reading more on your post as head of the group then.
And yes, I know he does. But I'm a grown woman almost constantly in cartoon clothing lol .

Gavin - that is very true. Kids butcher language irked .
I think people always get hurt when they're removed, but sometimes things change. Some of us do not feel comfortable with people we don't know or trust fully seeing stuff, and that's fair. Facebook for me, well, I'm rather lenient. I try not to let my blog be known there, though. And I've banned swearing too, so it can get a bit difficult.

Martin - I've actually read all the books at my Gran's will and I did not approve at all. Never mind the predictability and teenage crap, the strange interpretation of vampires, the books are teaching kids that you need a guy to live. And that's not good at all. To be fair, it shouldn't be read by small kids anyway, but, hey. It just ain't for me.
Sorry about your slippers, too. It really sucks when a favourite piece of clothing gets damaged, especially when it's irreplacable.

Flarin - yes, we have the entirety of it on DVD bigsmile . Really pissed that it got cancelled, especially the ending it got.
Facebook is not a necessity, but I use it to stay in touch with family. Without it, I'd never converse with most of them.

Kitty - I think people get upset with me because I already have them on there, then I am about to make a very personal post and I remove them. I know it isn't fair, so perhaps I should just not make the posts, I don't know. But things change between people too, otherwise I'd keep them on there. I dunno. I've got about 14 people on my list, and the people that tend to get upset are those that just add everybody. You'd think they wouldn't care.

Mart, I wouldn't have expected anything less lol . I have always had an eye for spelling too, but I'm trying not to be a nazi with it. I mean, I use words that don't exist, myself. And I misspelled "definitely" for years. o

theoddbod Monday, April 12, 2010 8:16:13 AM

Nothing wrong with inventing a new word now and then bigsmile
Today's words are 'obsolutely' and 'chiggins'. Supply your own meanings and use whenever you feel like p

Bad WolfCois Monday, April 12, 2010 8:35:20 AM

Humf.. rolleyes first you take me off your friends list now you criticise myyy spelling.. awww

Stomyr Monday, April 12, 2010 8:54:49 AM

In Japan more hello kitty adult pants are being sold than wedding dresses, so no need to be "ashamed" bigsmile

yeah - me too - the people actually on my friends list are totally essential, for me smile I don't add anybody who I don't know well and already like (and surprisingly I do get a lot of add requests, unintroduced, people I've never heard of...why on earth do they want to be my friend?? I don't get it lol )

Originally posted by Kimmie:

DON"T TELL ME!! lol It hasn't ended here yet (but I don't watch it much now anyway, TV pisses me off these days).....and about being removed from your friends list (I see I'm not, but...) as I've said before, I don't need a badge to be your friend heart I guess the thing is being able to comment on your posts in the company of your\my joint friends (a very small circle, on my part), you know?? That's very nice to be able to do, as we all communicate between ourselves anyway, it's very, very nice to meet here too and kinda join up - if that makes any sense smile

\\edit : Kinda makes you feel like an essential Social Service provider, doesn't it?? lol

r♡serose-marie Monday, April 12, 2010 9:22:27 AM

*pops in*

Who, except yourself, should have anything to say about your friend list... (I won't put a question mark there since it's not really a question. Or maybe it is, but a rhetorical one?)

I've watched a bit of BBT (funny!), but it's been on hiatus here for a while. I think they have a new season coming up now, when they get back from the North Pole. I don't know which season that is.

Spaggyj Monday, April 12, 2010 10:42:11 AM

Mart - what do those mean? left I'm not quite that bad, I do use words like "coupla" though. I suppose it's a kind of abbreviation. I recently learned what a "Chizzit" is, and it made me laugh bigsmile .

Dog, shut up p .

Stomyr, that doesn't surprise me at all lol .

Flarin - I would never tell, don't worry smile it'll bug you though.
I get what you mean about being able to be a part of someone's more personal life. I know you and I have had an issue or two, I'm still sorry about that and I'm very glad it's resolved yes .

Hiya Rosie heart . You're right, of course, but I do feel a bit cruel with removals sometimes. Especially when the person takes it so hard.
Big Bang Theory is awesome. The season you're referencing is Season 3 - it's not out on dvd here until September, so we've not seen it yet either.

theoddbod Monday, April 12, 2010 10:56:09 AM

They're made-up words, as far as I know - exclusively revealed on your blog bigsmile

theoddbod Monday, April 12, 2010 10:59:15 AM

Darn it, Urban Dictionary has Chiggins irked. Fine, the other word is Hicklesticks p

Okay Mart left have you been at the cheese today? p .

David - eek really? I thought they were for pooping!

Cleanclean Monday, April 12, 2010 12:05:13 PM

They are. whistle wink

Spaggyj Monday, April 12, 2010 12:42:45 PM

*phew*

Gavin Tripp-Sheedygarlingmatthews Monday, April 12, 2010 5:28:56 PM

That bugged me about Twilight too. But that is teen love. Everything feels so bloody important at that age.

I don't need a guy. left

Spaggyj Monday, April 12, 2010 5:45:45 PM

lol

Bad WolfCois Monday, April 12, 2010 5:55:08 PM

Twilight sucks. I really don't see the fascination.. left well the movies as I've seen those.. whistle

Darkogdare Monday, April 12, 2010 6:49:15 PM

The most annoying part with words is "how r u" sort of stuff. I almost got tempted to delete comments like that doh
Been very busy for about a month or so, but I am preparing one long and exciting journey at the end of June; hopefully there will be a lot of photos and few posts after it happy

Spaggyj Monday, April 12, 2010 7:44:30 PM

Yep Dog, it sucks.

Dark, I know exactly what you mean. There is no reason to type that way. If I recieve any messages typed that way I delete them lol . Where're you off to in June then, or is it a secret?

Darkogdare Monday, April 12, 2010 7:51:14 PM

It is still a secret because I am still in plans and organising. But with a pinch of luck.... bigsmile

Spaggyj Monday, April 12, 2010 7:58:00 PM

Ooh, how exciting! bigsmile do you need some fingers crossed?

Darkogdare Monday, April 12, 2010 8:01:42 PM

Yup yes

Martin K™Aqualion Monday, April 12, 2010 8:36:38 PM

That crossing fingers concept, how does it work?

Do you keep your fingers crossed constantly until the event has come to pass, or are you allowed the occasional uncrossing?

Are you supposed to cross fingers on a schedual, like a ritual and otherwise keep fingers uncrossed?

I mean, even the simplest daily tasks are impossible to complete with crossed fingers. I suppose I could undo my fly with one hand, but next step becomes somwhat of a motorical challenge with crossed fingers, even if I limit the crossing to only the one hand's fingers.

Help me out on this one, please?

Cleanclean Monday, April 12, 2010 8:58:23 PM

You have to keep 'em crossed. But it's tricky (just wait 'til you have to clean up after a #2!) wink

Martin K™Aqualion Monday, April 12, 2010 9:23:18 PM

I guess I'll just have to get somebody to keep their fingers crossed in my place while I do... my business. I reckon the barkeep down the stadium tavern would understand that. I'd give him a nice tip. Promise.

Cleanclean Monday, April 12, 2010 9:25:57 PM

"A nice tip ... "

That's it ... I'm going back to bed ... p wink

Edit: My brain is misreading and/or making too many weirdnesses out of everything this morning ... time for a reboot ...

Spaggyj Monday, April 12, 2010 10:44:08 PM

David's right, even in his apparent weird-morning state p it's a continual thing. If you cramp, then you cross your fingers in a mental capacity. You've just got to mind those neurons and shit.
I'm tired, I don't have to make sense. *crosses fingers mentally for Darkie*

Cleanclean Monday, April 12, 2010 10:58:46 PM

* crosses mental for fingers *

Darkogdare Tuesday, April 13, 2010 4:34:40 AM

Interesting comments bigeyes

Thanks Kimmie bigsmile

Dacotah Tuesday, April 13, 2010 3:57:05 PM

Never had chocolate covered pretzels.

Haven't heard of 30 Rock.

Sorry about your pj's. awww
Did you sew it up?

Spaggyj Tuesday, April 13, 2010 4:38:29 PM

Never Carol? They're suprisingly good. Actually, I think the US is the only country that sells Pretzel Flipz now, you can probably find them there.
30 Rock is good, extremely popular from what I gather.
I can't really sew up the hole, it'll pucker the material. It's thin cotton and it'll look very weird. If it gets bigger than pinkie-sized I'll probably patch it.

Dacotah Tuesday, April 13, 2010 5:55:21 PM

Yep, never. I tried the thick chewy pretzels once and didn't like them, I like the salty stick ones.
May-be you can patch it before it gets bigger?

Spaggyj Tuesday, April 13, 2010 6:26:36 PM

I don't like proper pretzels either - the pretzels I speak of are crunchy and salted, but also coated in chocolate yes
It's not worth patching the hole, it's about one millimetre in diameter right now.

Dacotah Tuesday, April 13, 2010 8:05:11 PM

I might try it then.

Mad Scientistqlue Thursday, April 15, 2010 1:22:33 AM

*notes that Mart used the English word 'spelt' and not the American 'spelled'*
We all have lives but some people do seem to assume that it's all about 'them'. left.

FlaRin Thursday, April 15, 2010 3:54:08 AM

I think 'spelt' and 'spelled' actually have different uses - something is 'spelt' a particular way, someone 'spelled' something out for someone else....

(happy to be wrong, though smile )

Mad Scientistqlue Thursday, April 15, 2010 4:35:33 AM

In America, the word 'spelt' exists only as a noun for a certain type of grain. The past tense verb for 'to spell' is 'spelt' in English and 'spelled' in American.
'spelled' is also an adjective meaning 'bewitched' or 'cursed'. Although that's more of a slang term from the 1600's and not really a contemporary usage. up.
Even American grammar differs significantly from English.
For example, the term, "Be real." is a valid sentence in American but doesn't even qualify as a phrase in English! scared.

Gavin Tripp-Sheedygarlingmatthews Thursday, April 15, 2010 8:48:39 AM

It is a sentence in English. Though maybe not the same sentence. left

Martin K™Aqualion Thursday, April 15, 2010 9:25:28 AM

In Denmark we learn English, as in British English, in school, from about fourth grade, but when speaking English most of us use American phrases, because this is what we get from television. So, you would most likely experience a mushup (phrase originating from the digital music culture) of American and British English in our language, written as well as spoken - including the occasional typos and mispellings. Some of us will also add some German or French, just to toot our horns a wee bit (very old term with Indo-European roots).

FlaRin Thursday, April 15, 2010 9:27:32 AM

'25 years' is a sentence in English....

Gavin Tripp-Sheedygarlingmatthews Thursday, April 15, 2010 11:33:03 AM

lol We have our own English, because we're special. p

I love Indian English.

Mad Scientistqlue Thursday, April 15, 2010 3:24:28 PM

Yeah but life is only twenty years so twenty five years is a really long sentence! scared.

Martin K™Aqualion Thursday, April 15, 2010 4:38:56 PM

Hey... I'm forty one and still alive...bigsmile

Darkogdare Thursday, April 15, 2010 6:22:51 PM

Me too bigsmile

FlaRin Thursday, April 15, 2010 9:19:10 PM

English is *so* dynamic and culturally alive (re. Gavin's comment about Indian English) that it just never gets boring, i m o - you almost literally never know what someone is really talking about lol

left ...or...is that just me? right

(and so open to interesting typos - I originally said 'almoist' instead of 'almost' - that could have put a *totally* different slant on a comment lol )
