poem, relationships
To Place or To Find
When I meet someone I want to know more,
Do I place my own feelings, or find what's in store?
Do I place out my hopes — and hope they'll agree?
Or find that their hopes are like those in me?
Sometimes I have placed ambitions and schemes
alongside another — and hope God agrees.
But then I have found as I wait on Him more,
a treasure in another He's put there before.
I don't have to place it,
polish it, and smile;
My work is to find it, admire it
— and rejoice all the while.

hope, poem
Though my hopes be dashed
and tears flow from my eyes;
yet You, my Saviour, are sufficient
to sustain this heart.
Because my dreams are not Yours
and my timetable is out of step;
yet You keep the dreams kindled
until Your perfect time comes to answer.
Teach me to wait and wait
and wait and wait longer;
yet tomorrow's answer will bring
rejoicing as deep as today's sorrow.
Guide me to pray and pray
for what troubles my soul;
yet each day walk in step with You
toward Your hope for me.

writings, listen, poem
Another forgotten selection from my "Writings" folder..Goin’ ‘round and ‘round
Caged and yet uncaged
Can’t seem to sit still long enough to hear
It’s not by works
Not by brains
That I’m needing to bend Your ear
The words of Ginny’s song(1)
Keep cutting my emotions
It all seems purely fear
Yet each new day arises
Stopping not for me
A kind of hope down here?
And what if my dreams
Fall apart at Your feet
That You rightfully claim vict’ry?
Then what can I do?
Where do I go?
Just let me know You’re near
I’m breakin’ down
So there’s no pride
It’s takin’ how many years?
What’s that like:
A heart wholly broken
So only praise to You is clear?
You quiet me
As I write this
Bring my soul oh, so near..
Ready to listen

poem, words, wrap me
Wrap me in words
The best you can find
Humour me
Anger me
Love me
Tease me.
Wrap me in words
To draw out the hurt
To put it somewhere and forget
Write it again, and forget
Write it again, and forget
Write it again, and remember
--without pain.
Wrap me in words
To cry out to You
To remember my plea
To fulfil Your Dreams
Your Plans, Your Love
And praise You
Alone
When it's done.
Wrap me in words
Though there's never enough
To tell the story (John 21:25)
--or any story.
