Spots...
Daddy and I went out in our backyard
to sit with you
In The place where daddy so bravely and tearfully buried
Your sweet little self.
Yes, in the backyard,
where you loved to watch the birdies...
and got all excited about the occasional skunk...
the squirrels and the ravens...
the trees as they swayed with the wind...
and all the other majesty of God's creation.
I think,
My little sweetheart,
That all of God's creatures
Have a really special and direct connection with our God
That most humans just don't get.
You so enjoyed even the littlest of things
That life brought before your beautiful eyes.
How very little it took to love you
And to make you happy.
You never demanded anything from me or daddy.
All you ever craved was our love
and,
of course,
your food :-)
In the midst of my uncontrollable weeping,
Daddy asked me,
If I would like to join him
And sit next to your grave.
I said "yes", as you already know.
As I sat next to you,
I was finally able to remember your life
More than your death.
I rejoiced with your daddy
About
What a blessing you were,
And will always be.
We talked about the love you brought us,
The joy you instilled in our souls,
The laughter you brought
Through your hilarious antics,
Your companionship and loyalty,
Your unbeatable "attitude",
And the peace...
Aahhh, yes, that peace.
Thank you, my little boy
For all of what you
So unselfishly gifted to us.
Thank you for the honor
Of spending you whole life with us.
We wouldn't have wanted it
Any other way, my little darling.
Most of all,
Amidst the tragedy of your death
At only 8 years of age,
Thank you for allowing me
The awesome priviledge
Of finally showing us the way to
Soak up all of that love
That you left behind for
Me & Daddy.

OH How I wish I could send you a kitty just like this one. I know she/he would help ease your heartache. Have you considered getting another companion? I honestly believe it would help you with the pain and feeling of emptiness. Spots could never be replaced, but you could be training his predecessor.

I hear what you're saying, but, I'm just not ready yet. I don't want any part of all those beautiful memories to leave. I couldn't bear that. I guess, eventually, it would be wonderful to get another little rescue and I'm sure I will. For now, I just can't even imagine it. I spend my mornings and afternoons at his gravesite. I love you so much for caring so deeply.

glitter-graphics.com I understand, when you're ready you'll know it. The memories will not leave, believe me. Even though I have the 2 "Fur daughters" now, I haven't forgotten one memory of my other Fur Kids who have gone on.

I waited 3 years before I got another Fur Kid, and as you know I ended up with fraternal twin sisters. So I have 2 Fur Kids and couldn't be happier. Although I still have moments where I miss my Buck, and it has been over 5 years now.

I think I'll miss him always.

Thank you so much. Your words always comfort me. There isn't any animal on earth that I don't love. We have 4 others here at home, one of which was Spots' true daddy...he was the one who jumped into the box with Spots when he passed. We couldn't get him out; he licked him until he was as clean as could be. Bill had to take him away after a bit so we could bury him. I almost jumped into the box with him as well. What I'm trying to say (the long way around) is that Spots had some special "stuff". He instantly provided healing and love in all ways that I was able to actually feel coming through me. I would throw myself in front of a bus for any of my furry kids, but there was just something different about Spots that made him who he was and will always be. There was almost something supernaturelly different about him. I don't know if angels can take the form of animals, but, if they do, I KNOW Spots was one.

Just like my Buck. They stand head and shoulders above the other critters. They came here with an extra special soul!!!
Not to say we don't love our other critters and have high regard for them. Every once in awhile a special person comes here for a bit to help humanity, well... there are special animals too, and Spots and Buck were both that kind!!

I'm so happy to hear that you know what I'm speaking about. When you have that little someone so so special, it's just hard to let go.
