My new grandson, Justin Killough, was born this afternoon at 12:31. He weighs seven pounds and fourteen ounces, and is nineteen-and-three-quarters-inches tall.

And the heat has broken with thunderstorms moving in as I write this. It is just beginning to rain.

What a wonderful day.

Killough is the name of Justin's late maternal grandfather. I am so pleased with my son and daughter-in-law's decisions to name their sons after their ancestors like they have. My son is named after my father and brother, and it's very touching to me that they are continuing that tradition. It is so important that we remember and honor our ancestors.
