Obamacare at Its "Finest"

Here's an interesting article in Time magazine about the proposed health care plan by the President.

Thanks, GW, for the link. I think this article sums it up rather nicely!

A New Quilt

For my friend, Joanna, who is expecting her second little girl in a couple of weeks.

Family Ties

I chatted with a cousin on Facebook tonight--a cousin I haven't seen or spoken with in probably almost 20 years. We spent about 40 minutes reminiscing and then catching up. We were very close as kids, just two years apart in age and close friends throughout childhood. When she married, we drifted apart as people sometimes do.

I found the timing interesting. Today is my sister's birthday (Stardancer), so I've been thinking about family today. My cousin lives next to her mom. Her children and grandchildren live next door. I couldn't help but contrast that to my own life--children and grandchildren in Arkansas, Tampa, and here in Utah. (Only one lives with me--my youngest, Marissa.)

Talking with my cousin seemed to ignite a desire in me to reconnect with family. Some I've stayed in contact with, but some I haven't. I think it's time to renew family ties.

Two Sad Losses

Farrah Fawcett died today. I don't believe anyone was shocked. This brave woman had battled anal cancer for almost three years. Her long-time companion and best friend were both at her side. She was such a courageous woman.

Then, a short time later and to the shock of everyone, pop icon Michael Jackson was rushed to the hospital in Los Angeles in cardiac arrest. He did not survive. Poor Michael. He was a sad, troubled man whose bizarre lifestyle sometimes overshadowed his remarkable talents.

This isn't my favorite video with Michael. Unfortunately, none of the YouTube videos featuring him alone were available for embedding on blogs. But this one was a good one, albeit considered "sappy" by cynical music critics. I liked it, though. RIP Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett.

A Remarkable Musician

Here's a terrific arrangement of two popular songs: Taylor Swift's "Love Story" and Coldplay's "Viva la Vida." Jon Schmidt is an independent recording artist with a delightful sense of humor. He is also an extremely accomplished musician. Hope you enjoy!

We All Need Love

I have loved cats my entire life. Don't get me wrong--I like other animals a great deal. Birds, dogs, fish, various and sundry other critters. (Just ask my husband. He'll tell you!) But I have always had a fondness for felines and a way with them, as well.

I received this video in an email that I receive regularly. I cried when I watched it. The story of this poor animal broke my heart. Found in an abandoned car, suffering from a diseased eye that had exploded from a raging infection, this wretched cat weighed only five pounds and was surely dying. The person who found him netted him, because this cat had never known a human touch. See what happens when this wretched creature finds love.

Home-Grown Music

My older daughter, Heather, loves to write and perform music. To listen to some of her original compositions, as well as her work with two bands, go here.

There are three original works on this site by Heather. One song there was recorded by her a cappella group, "Impact," for their forthcoming CD. The other song was written by her colleague in the second group with which she sings called "Goody Two-Shoes."

I hope you enjoy!

New Baby Picture

Here is my son, Michael, his wife Jenny, and their daughters DeAnna (almost 2 years old) and new little Ray.

I'm so glad Michael and Jenny have two healthy little girls!

Milking Time

I received this cartoon in an email from a friend. Thanks, GW! It just about says it all.

I believe I would change "U.S. Treasury" to "American People." Otherwise, this is just about perfect.

Ray's First Picture (official)

Here's the first "official" picture of little Ray, my new grandbaby. Follow this link, then click on the date "March 15." The names of babies born on that day will come up. Click on "Robbia H." There's our new little one!

She looks like her daddy!

 Proud Grandma.
