Happy New Year!

We wish all myopera users the best for the next year!

Opera Site Slowed by Surge in Free Downloads

According to this article on Netcraft, it may look like Opera download request are sometimes chocked on datapipes in the US area. wink

All of our own download servers are still running fine, but there may be bottlenecks on the route from your network area to our server network, so I recommend everyone to try a local mirror if you have problems reaching our site - we have plenty of top quality mirror partners spread all over the world - they are all ready to serve you. happy

Also, if you have a good server on a good pipe and would like to be an official Opera Mirror Partner, you can read more about the technical details and apply for registration here. We are especially looking for more mirrors in the USA and Asia areas.

Finally a big thanks to all of our mirror partners for all the help you have given us with Opera distribution, both on this release but also for all the daily downloads you have provided for us in all this years - many many thanks for your excellent mirroring support! cheers

Eleanor Rigby

This little text (written by some unknown poet), can perhaps express some of the feelings you get after many hours fighting the machine - in this case, the new MyOpera Proxy Error Monster wink

Eleanor Rigby
Sits at the keyboard
And waits for a line on the screen
Lives in a dream
Waits for a signal
Finding some code
That will make the machine do some more.
What is it for?
All the lonely users, where do they all come from?
All the lonely users, why does it take so long?

Guru MacKenzie
Typing the lines of a program that no one will run;
Isn't it fun?
Look at him working,
Munching some chips as he waits for the code to compile;
It takes a while...
All the lonely users, where do they all come from?
All the lonely users, why does it take so long?

Eleanor Rigby
Crashes the system and loses 6 hours of work;
Feels like a jerk.
Guru MacKenzie
Wiping the crumbs off the keys as he types in the code;
Nothing will load.
All the lonely users, where do they all come from?
All the lonely users, why does it take so long?

Something

Something in the way it fails,
Defies the algorithm's logic!
Something in the way it coredumps...
I don't want to leave it now
I'll fix this problem somehow
Somewhere in the memory I know,
A pointer's got to be corrupted.
Stepping in the debugger will show me...
I don't want to leave it now
I'm too close to leave it now
You're asking me can this code go?
I don't know, I don't know...
What sequence causes it to blow?
I don't know, I don't know...
Something in the initializing code?
And all I have to do is think of it!
Something in the listing will show me...
I don't want to leave it now
I'll fix this tonight I vow!
