An American @ Opera

Well, Friday (4/4/08) was my first day at Opera. Lemme just say right out I have never felt more valued at any other company I have ever worked for. Opera truly cares about their employees well-being and enjoyment at work. Though they expect a lot out of you, they also are very casual and relaxed. It's actually a HUMAN company, maybe because it's Norwegian. I don't know, but I love it so far.

Just a couple things that make this job incredible:

It's only been 2 days and I can already see myself staying here for a long time

I've been playing Guitar Hero 3 on our Wii for a while now. The end credits song is called "Through the Fire and the Flames" by a speed metal band called Dragonforce. I love the song. It makes you want to run super fast, jump super high, and punch something super hard. It's just an overall adrenaline boost.

I downloaded their entire album "Inhuman Rampage" last night, and all the other songs are equally as cool. Granted, many of them sound the same with the crazy fast double bass pedal beat, but they get you pumped.

The band is unique to me in a couple ways. First of all, it's like a mix between heavy metal, video games, and Dungeons & Dragons. The songs are mostly all super fast, incorporated with crazy electronic sounds, epic ballad type lyrics, and many reference dragons in some way.

They're a really unique, unusual band, and their guitar skills are amazing. I have never heard a super fast song, that's 7 minutes long, complete with 5 crazy fast guitar solos. Check them out NOW!
