You don't make it sticky post?

Steven 3. April 2007, 16:24

Ah, yes, I did make it a sticky post

Update: Aargh, I did put in the wrong URL link - hope it works now

Riene 4. April 2007, 02:30

This could be fun...!

Jen 4. April 2007, 23:00

Do we have to click it? Poke it with a stick? Jump up and down in front of compy? Is there a trick to making it work? I want to best represent my geographical location, here! Cool idea... you've got quite the international jetset crowd, should get lots of different flags on the map.

Steven 5. April 2007, 10:55

I'm not sure if I'm doing it right. It's supposed to count visitors to the URL page which link I've registered with - which is: http://my.opera.com/StevenV/blog/
That page is supposed to show the map thumnail too. Only, I'm not sure if the button is considered sitting on http://my.opera.com/StevenV/blog/ or on the actual post's URL

Riene 6. April 2007, 01:16

I think it's working now, thought I don't see ME on it yet *scowls*

Steven 6. April 2007, 09:14

mmm, I think it might show your service provider's location, rather than your real location

Riene 6. April 2007, 13:17

Looks as if it's updated again, and I'm there now!

Stephanie 7. April 2007, 04:41

Yay! I have a dot! That thing is cool, I like it.

Jen 7. April 2007, 14:24

I think I see the red dot representing my existence, too. Yeah red dot of existence!

Riene 8. April 2007, 15:39

I have a red dot; therefore, I am.

Megan 11. April 2007, 04:37

Heh, cool. It didn't work for me the first time I tried it, but it does now. *waves to other little red dots*

Steven 11. April 2007, 10:00

Ah, yes, it only updates once a day, so your location doesn't appear immediately

Steven 11. April 2007, 14:22

Sofar, US/Canada 8 - Europe 1 (that big Irish dot is me) - Asia 1

Jen 11. April 2007, 23:21

Now what happens when you move to Oslo? does your dot stay in Ireland, and then you get a new dot? or does the dot follow you? Like a groupie?
Boo groupies! P:

Steven 12. April 2007, 09:29

It will pick up the new IP, so yes, a new dot.

kerry 12. April 2007, 16:10

Gosh, I've always wanted to be a Red Dot. But I'd prefer a lighter shade................am I there yet?

Nope, I do not yet exist. Ba!

Steven 12. April 2007, 16:13

Wasn't there a popular 80's girl band called the Dolly Dots?

Jen 12. April 2007, 21:24

Kerry, you're obviously not existing hard enough.
Try harder! Then you'll show up. P:

kerry 13. April 2007, 00:30

I'm really trying - just ask my father! P:

I just read:

In order for your map to be 'updated' (whether daily, weekly, or monthly) the number of visitors shown must also have grown by a certain percentage since the last update. This is explained more fully in our FAQ about update frequency.

Does that mean I won't exist until the number of visitors goes up by some vague number?

Bummer.......................

Stephanie 13. April 2007, 00:57

Whoa, Riene's dot got HUGE.

And Jen, you're the closest dot to me! It seems so close...yet I know exactly how far away it is when you're in a car to Toronto...hahah

solid copper 13. April 2007, 04:56

Wow, you got a dot from Beijing. Something to write home about, maybe?

Steven 13. April 2007, 17:03

It's actually even more interesting to look at the map with smaller dots

http://www2.clustrmaps.com/counter/maps.php?url=http://my.opera.com/StevenV/blog/&type=small&category=free&clusters=no&map=world

The east coast dot and one of the Canadian dots are actually doublets - home vs. work/school comp?

Riene 13. April 2007, 21:14

I may have to put one of these on my own page...

kerry 13. April 2007, 22:18

Yaba daba doo - I exist!

But Riene's dot worries me - is she about to go supernova?

Stephanie 14. April 2007, 03:42

I'm the east coast dot! Ah yes...I went home this weekend and got a second dot slightly north of the first dot P:

Riene 14. April 2007, 14:37

If you look at the more detailed map, there's actually a dot northish of me, and that's why it looks so big--they are merged together.

kerry 14. April 2007, 17:21

Aw, I was looking forward to a Big Bang. p:

Steven 17. April 2007, 09:41

Oooh, Peruvian dot

Jen 17. April 2007, 17:31

Whoooo got peru???
I'm going to see how many me dots there are from home vs school comp.

Stephanie 18. April 2007, 02:00

I've got two dots because I'm special P:

Steven 19. April 2007, 14:36

Oooh, a dot from 'Down Under'

Steven 4. May 2007, 12:36

Cool! More exotic dots - Hawaii, Thailand, and Korea

Jen 4. May 2007, 21:57

Dude, you appear to have a dot explosion on the west coast! (of North America, I guess I should point out, many other places also having a west coast...)

Bea 9. September 2008, 18:47

I see that you do many references to Brazil. Are you from there or have family there, or are you just in love with Brazil??

Steven 10. September 2008, 07:08

Tudo bem, Bea?

I worked one year at UFRJ (Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro). Yes, I like Brrrasssiiiiiil... Saudades

Bea 10. September 2008, 14:27
