.zix

I’ve seen other softwares which did the same, but they often didn’t work as they should. – Oh well, let’s give it a try. Register, download, and…. Oh, my….
It was a .zix
Wth? I’ve never heard of it – ok, quick search. I’ve found it, and… LOL, In the middle of the EULA: “This software installs third party advertiser program”…. “F” U!
Let’s do it in the hard way: Winhex, open file, and OMG! LOOOOOOOL!
I’ve looked at the header, and guess what! It is a Deflate-64 compressed, header modified archive! Loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool (For those who are not familiar with compression methods, it’s a basic .zip file, with modified header, to try to prevent “normal users” and different archivers to unpack it….)
Since, a modified header is not a "protection" against me.
The moral of the story:
Always look at the header, if you’ve never seen that type of file…
If still can't do anything try unzix - google is your friend
