Was really shocked that after so many years, and so many new versions why Eset still doesn’t automatically update program components - since of course you'll need it. So click change then select "Perform program component upgrade if available". Then click on ok, and then click on next.

If you wish to protect the settings set it now - and / or click next

How to install NOD32 and configure its settings

, ,

THIS IS FOR THE NOW OUTDATED NOD 2.7X - FOR THE UPDATED NOD 3.X TUTORUAL CLICK HERE

You must be logged in as an administrator in order to install and configure NOD

First download the software from www.eset.com

On the first screen click on next, then click on expert then accept the license.

Select folder, then click on next.

If you use proxy write it - if you are unsure, or don't use a proxy, leave it on default. Then click on next

I have no idea why Eset doesn’t automatically update program components - since of course you'll need it. So click change then select "Perform program component upgrade if available". Then click on ok, and then click on next.

If you want to password protect the settings, then set it. I don't recommend silent mode for basic users - or for those who have no idea what it is or how it is working - so click next

If you don't want to see Eset's logo at startup, uncheck the box.

Leave alone the GUI settings!!!!!!!!!!!

If you want to send warning on either MSN or via e-mail when you get a virus select the proper box - otherwise click on next.

About TreatSense.Net: If you are worried about your privacy, then uncheck the box - most users don't use this at all- so why would you install it?) However if you want to use this feature click on advanced then set your e-mail. Also set everything to “as soon as possible”. Click on next.

Of course you want to enable the detection of potentially unsafe applications.

Then click on next till you reach the HTTP checking (IMON) options. Select automatically deny the download of the file option, then click on next till the software installs itself. When prompted restart the computer.

After the restart - and probably the first update if you bought the full version first click on NOD’s taskbar icon twice, then click on update then upgrade to full version, enter the license details, and the software will update itself.

After the first update it is recommended to restart the computer.

So after the restart it is time to configure the software itself. In my opinion if a document is infected it should be removed from the hard disk.
(And if somebody fails to make backups from their files – they deserve to loose it) However some users may have critical documents, so they may try to set it up to "cleaning" settings.(Clean file)

So, click on NOD’s icon on the taskbar again, and then select AMON then setup.
Click on options, then select potentially unsafe applications, then to action - click on prohibit access (or if you want to clean the files (what is nonsense in my opinion) select clean automatically)

If you don't set it to prohibit access, click on security then uncheck everything except delete, then click ok. (So if the file can’t be cleaned,(or you just want to see the warning window) your only option will be delete the file) Click on ok.

Click on DMON then setup. Select potentially unsafe applications option too, and then click on actions. If you want the safest settings set delete on everything - if you want it may put them into the quarantine too - just select the copy to quarantine option. Also if you are afraid of deleting select clean on all options - just do not forget to select the copy to quarantine option.

Then click on OK

Click on EMON

Select both “Scan rtf message bodies” and “Plain text message bodies”.
Then click on detection, and select potentially unsafe applications again, then on action. The same applies as in the DMON settings.

Then click on OK

DO NOT BOTHER THE IMON SETTINGS.

Click on NOD32, and then run nod32. Click on setup. Select everything under scan, and under Treatsense Scan. If there is a pop-up, click on close.
Then click to actions. And either select clean or delete to everything. Of course there are options such as Boot sectors, email, email folders, operation memory where you should leave it on prompt. Then click on profile, and then select MY profile. It will ask to save the settings click on ok, then select my profile, then save. Check the following boxes : “Run this profile in cleaning mode” , “Use this profile for scanning…” , “Use this profile when launching…”(And select “local” here.)
If you want to password-protect the settings, you can set it here.
Click on profiles – then save.

If you want to scan click on scan and clean. bigsmile

Click on NOD32 system tools then on scheduler, and check all boxes. bigsmile
