Try Ubuntu - but wait for 3 days because a new version will come out in 2 days and servers will be totally overloaded.

1, My sound card doesn't work anymore - Neither on ALSA or the others
2, The same restricted drivers slow down the computer
3, they put Beta Grub in it (also the boot list is now a cfg with more lines than it would be needed)
4, decided to force sudo or gksudo in certain situations where it wasn't needed before. (A basic user will never figure out what to do in those situations)
5, I couldn't find a way to change the log-in window (I might be blind though)
6 - I could rant on and on - and hoping for a quick patch (Ubuntu one - or how is it called - got a patch a day after so hopefully sooner or later they will fix other issues too)
All these crap is still not as bad as W7 - but it made me feel like I'd try to use the 7.x series (They didn't detect my mainboard for over 7 months and I couldn't even use the Live cd)...
Moral of the story : I'll keep using 9.04....

The Ubuntu Netbook Remix version of Karmic is much better on my Acer Aspire One than the Jaunty version of UNR was!
Perhaps that's why you're having problems? Maybe they spent more time on UNR this time round and less time with the standard version?
Although, to be fair, they do warn that this isn't a release version yet and not to use it on 'production' machines! (I think that by 'production' they mean one that you use for income generating work and/or those irreplacable photo's of your dearly departed Great-great-granma on her 99th birthday!!)
