My Opera Mail

This message appeared in my Messages Inbox today.
Mail is replacing messages
At the end of January, our messaging system will be changed to My Opera Mail.
The good news? You already have My Opera Mail! Just visit your mailbox to start sending and receiving e-mail. Your e-mail address is your My Opera username followed by @myopera.com; SummerAngel@myopera.com.
Going forward, all correspondence with other My Opera members will go through My Opera Mail. Any earlier messages you have in your inbox will go into a read-only archive.
I do NOT want, nor do I need another email account. I do not want to be bothered with having to sign into this email account. I did not ask for it and I won't be using it. So...I respectfully request that NO My Opera Member send me email to the myopera.com account.
Thank you

So, stuff that we'd do via PMs up to now, like sending CSS Code, Images for Blog Designs, links for whatever ... will now HAVE to be sent via this MyOpera Mail method.
IF MyOpera can ever get this E-mail Service working reliably, I actually prefer things this way. Why? Because by having my E-mail Service in the Opera / MyOpera environment, I don't have to be logged in to any of my AOL Screen Names in particular to access my E-mail.
Besides, Annette, you don't actually have to go Sign In.
You just click on Mail there in the Drop Down Menu of the Envelope Icon in the MyOpera Toolbar and BAMM! You're In!
Of course, I hope that since they're now merging PMs & MyOpera E-mails, they incorporate an "E-mail SummerAngel" ... "E-mail _____" whatever MyOpera Member we want to toss a message or Info to. You know, so as to replace the "Message _____" so & so Member.

As much maligned as AOL is, right now I would feel uneasy having MyOpera Mail as my ONE & ONLY, my MAIN E-mail Service on which to depend. I really love the concept of the convenience that MyOpera Mail would bring to me. I would have Opera Browsing, MyOpera Hanging Out In and E-mail Service in a One Stop environment. But, right now the MyOpera Mail aspect of it does NOT yet instill confidence in me that I can depend on it and start using it as my MAIN E-mail Address.
Suntana # Wednesday, January 11, 2012 5:43:39 PM
For sure I don't want to resort to replacing my PMs usage with my AOL E-mail Service because I'm NOT even normally logged in to the Screen Name that is associated with my MyOpera account. I'm more often logged in to another one of my Screen Names and that one is NOT as 100% reliable outside of AOL World because it has a SPACE in the E-mail Address.
Suntana # Wednesday, January 11, 2012 5:53:54 PM
Well, actually she CAN E-mail me to my AOL E-mail Address provided that she uses the REPLY function to an E-mail that I've already sent her. She just can't send me an E-mail from scratch to my AOL E-mail Addresses.
Yadi Yadi Yada ... I told her back then, "Let me try a Plan B. Let's try my MyOpera E-mail Address." And that solved the problem.

You can deal with the hassle of the opera email if you want, but I choose to continue to use the hassle free account I've had for years.

I haven't had any obvious problems with it so far.
Suntana # Friday, January 13, 2012 3:32:40 PM
So yeah, yesterday I was infuriated twice, bordering on hyperventilating and going ballistic after the second occurrence of it.
At least it didn't wipe out the entire E-mail.
Then once I had recreated the text that disappeared, something was obviously still glitched because when I would try to select text so as to add Text Attributes like Bold, Font Color, Etc. --- OTHER chunks of text would be selected, NOT the text over which I would click & drag. Weird.

I don't write long emails as a rule anyway. So that might be why I've never had problems?
I've moved some things over from my Gmail account simply because my Gmail account receives too much spam and I don't want certain things to get confused between spam and the genuine article.
If I ever have major issues, I can always migrate those things over to my Ymail account or my other email account. (that last one has a terrible user interface though.
Suntana # Friday, January 13, 2012 9:49:16 PM
Depends what that means?
I've never been friggin' clear regarding what the blazes an E-mail Client is.
In my case I don't have anything fancy.
I'm simply talking about hovering on the Envelope Icon up in the MyOpera Toolbar. Then click on "Mail." And then I just have at it. I then just dive in into MyOpera Mail. So, whatever that means, that's what I'm doing.

The email client is usually a stand-alone application. However, Opera Browser has a built in email client which I don't use!
(Click the "Opera" button in the top right corner and then select "Mail and Chat Accounts")
I sometimes have to clear my cookies to get the web interface to work properly.

No such animal. I don't know what you're talking about, Aadil.
Did you see that on your Notebook or on your phone?

Just do it like I do and you're in.
Suntana # Saturday, January 14, 2012 2:39:40 AM
We're talking about the much newer BETA MyOpera Mail.
Mad Scientistqlue # Saturday, January 14, 2012 8:52:22 AM
It shows about a quarter of the Opera 'O' and the word 'Opera'.
Just click it.
Mad Scientistqlue # Saturday, January 14, 2012 8:54:56 AM
Suntana # Saturday, January 14, 2012 2:06:58 PM
There is no quarter "O" anywhere on my screen.
Maybe it's something that is either Opera version-based or has to be enabled?
The only thing remotely close to what you're talking about is that Opera O and "My Opera" there to the left of my User Name on the My Opera Toolbar. And that gives me my Latest Activities. Are you seeing this quarter "O" on the very same Toolbar as the Tabs?
Suntana # Saturday, January 14, 2012 2:09:11 PM
So that's several versions below the latest.
Maybe it's the latest Opera versions that have that quarter "O" bit.

Anyway, yes, you have to provide your email account details and password to an email client so that it can access your email account. On some email accounts, you may also need to setup something manually. (although most things are automated these days)
I, personally, don't use any email client as it's a lot easier to use the web interfaces in most cases.
And in Gmail especially, you get more functionality from the web interface.
Suntana # Saturday, January 14, 2012 11:39:59 PM
WHAT? You have to give your P ... P ... PASSWORD?!!!
That has Gatekeeper written all over it.
I think I'll stay right where I am ... with the plain ole vanilla web interface way.

You'll HAVE to be good to go by the end of the month when we no longer have PMs. Cuz I don't want to have to be logging in to that certain AOL Screen Name to see that I have E-mails from y'all. I want to be able to just quickly see up'er in the MyOpera Toolbar that I have some MyOpera Mail.

Messages to my MyOpera E-mail Address on the other hand, those WOULD be seen on a daily basis. Those are within the Opera environment and I'm on MyOpera everday.

And besides, you've already been informed of what to do and how to do things so that I won't miss any messages from you. With that Strategic Chuck Briefing, how can you now not know what to do?
See ... bottom line, why would it matter to you whether you send a message to either one of my AOL E-mail Addresses or to my MyOpera E-mail Address? It's still going to be an E-mail Address either way.
Now ... from YOUR end, you're welcome to use one of your regular E-mail Addresses as your base of operation. You can shun your MyOpera E-mail Address like the plague if you want. Just let me know which E-mail Address you want me to use to contact you more efficiently.

The Restore CD was already ordered yesterday from elsewhere.
Cuz right now the Hard Drive is of course BLANK.
Yadi Yadi Yada ... I'm hoping that sometime between this Friday and next Tuesday or Wednesday, both the Restore CD and the Modem will be here and I'll be able to debut that newer, faster, more powerful computer with oodles of Hard Drive space to spare.
My Art Gallery will be moved to a much bigger building. http://files.myopera.com/Tamil/Smilies/Cool2.gif -

I didn't luck out so as to be able to actually just walk into a Walmart store and meander over to the Electronics department and purchase a Dial Up Modem. That's why unfortunately I had to resort to Walmart's website.
There at the Walmart website there ARE still various 56K Dial Up Modems available. I was tempted to go with one of several USB Dial Up Modems. That would be much easier ... just plug it in and BAMM! No messing around with opening up the computer. But, I just kept being leery. I could envision a less stable Internet Connection if I went that USB Modem route. Or I could also envision a slower connection if that newer computer (Like my current computer) does NOT happen to have HIGH Speed USB Ports.
Yeah, my current HP Pavilion doesn't have High Speed USB Ports so, every time I connect a Flash Drive to it, I am reminded with a message that that Flash Drive could operate faster if I had High Speed USB Ports.
It's almost assured that the newer Dell computer WILL have High Speed USB Ports, but I just didn't want to take the chance that it wouldn't.
Suntana # Friday, January 27, 2012 2:40:43 PM
However, IF the Restore CD was to get here today or Monday, I might not be able to stand the waiting. I might just up and take out the Modem from my Backup computer, my Gateway and slap it into the Dell and fire it up.
