Free Bird

A great loss to Southern Rock Fans, Billy Powell, of Lynyrd Skynyrd, passed away on January 28, 2009.
Gone way too soon, yes, FREE BIRD, I will still remember you.
Goodbye Billy, I will miss you my friend.
Free Bird
If I leave here tomorrow
Would you still remember me?
For I must be travelling on, now,
cause theres too many places Ive got to see.
But, if I stayed here with you, girl,
Things just couldnt be the same.
cause Im as free as a bird now,
And this bird you can not change.
Lord knows, I cant change.
Bye, bye, its been a sweet love.
Though this feeling I cant change.
But please dont take it badly,
cause lord knows Im to blame.
But, if I stayed here with you girl,
Things just couldnt be the same.
Cause Im as free as a bird now,
And this bird youll never change.
And this bird you can not change.
Lord knows, I cant change.
Lord help me, I cant change.

I've known about Lynard Skynard for the longest time, but believe it or not, their only song that I know by title is - "Sweet Home Alabama." They ARE the ones who play it, right? It's conceivable that I've heard more of their songs. It's just that like with a lot of English music, a lot of the time I don't know to whom I am listening. I may like songs for years and not even know who plays them.
What's the Free Bird connection? The first thing that came to mind when I read that was a Beatles song. Don't the Beatles have a song titled - Free Bird? Or is it Black Bird?

I met the surviving members of Skynyrd at local clubs/bars between the time of the plane crash and the reformation of Lynyrd Skynyrd after Johnny replaced his brother Ronnie Van Zant as lead singer.
Ronnie Van Zant wrote Sweet Home Alabama as a tribute to the studio where they recorded in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. I am a fan of all their songs, but Gimme Three Steps, The Ballad Of Curtis Lowe, and Simple Man are my favorites.
I am not sure about the Beatles singing Free Bird or Black Bird. I only know some of their popular songs as I am not a big fan of theirs.
Sorry about your Cardnials, but like your sister-in-law, I was rooting for the Steelers. Third quarter had me worried a little, but they brought it home in the end. GREAT game!

Oh, they weren't MY Cardinals. I only wanted them to win because I didn't want the Steelers to win. I'm a Dallas Cowboys Fan all the way. I just didn't want my sister-in-law having bragging rights.

I have been a fan of "Lynyrd Skynyrd" since my freshman year of high school.
I was devastated when the plane crash happened. My friends and I held tickets for the concert in Florida at the time. Needless to say it never happened.
Billy Powell will be sorely missed, but never forgotten.

I hope you kept your concert tickets. Billy was an amazing pianist and will always be remembered for his talent and easy going nature. I will remember the band as good ole Jacksonville boys who loved to make people happy through their gift of music.

In my opinion they achieved their goal. Every time I listen to their music it makes me happy!
Have a Great Day!!

Love. that song. I remember how powerful it was in Forrest Gump. Poor Jenny. But then again, I am a Jenny, so very sympathetic.

With your work schedule being crazy, I take it your computer is still problematic? Let me know when you have completely fixed it so that I can toss you some experimental Banner to see if you can smooth it out with your Digital Editor. I told Jen I was trying to come up with a prototype Banner and theme for my niece. I did come up with a Banner, but the File Size came out too big. So, I have to go back to the drawing board.

Great to hear your computer is now fixed. And it sounds like you didn't have to perform a Windows Reinstall like I did. A lot of time you didn't have to waste. The next Banner I create, I'll send it your way. It'll be sometime within the next couple of days.

You too, will spread your wings and fly someday. Just like the Free Bird, you may even go around the world.
