What is this? Am I losing it? What happened, did you revamp your Welcome post? WTheck, Chuck?

Dacotah 16. June 2009, 01:21

:D

PainterWoman 16. June 2009, 02:12

Maybe it's a new sticky post? Did he have one before?

L2D2 16. June 2009, 03:13

yes, he had a welcome blog, but I think it was longer than this and it was a sticky post I am pretty sure.

Suntana 16. June 2009, 03:30

Ohhh, THAT! I guess as Desi Arnez used to have to do ...
I have some 'Splaining to thoo.
Uhhh, Ummm ... "Revamping" is NOT exactly the word.
The word, the phrase that would fit this situation would be ... a Colossal, Monumental, Mammoth, Texas-sized Screwup! :yikes: That is what I committed earlier this evening.

Oh, the Welcome Sticky Post's content is exactly the same. Here's what went down. When I put up my MOTW Sticky Post, it replaced my Welcome Sticky Post at the top. Okay, so that was Okay the initial days. But, I really want my Welcome Sticky Post at the top. So, I wondered, "Hmmm? How shall I do that? Should I ask someone how to do it?" Then I thought I got an easy, brilliant idea. I decided that all I had to do was Copy my Welcome Sticky Post's content, which I have Backed Up anyway on an MS Word Doc as I do all my Posts. I would subsequently Delete my Welcome Sticky Post. Then I would create a NEW Welcome Sticky Post. I would of course insert all the original content.

So, I excecuted the Plan. My NEW Welcome Sticky Post was now in place at the top, just like I wanted it. That excitement was shortlived. I did a quick scroll and immediately saw the "NO COMMENTS" staring me in the face! :eyes: I knew immediately what had happened. Boy, I sure executed something ... my Comments. Homer: Doh! :frown:

It happened so quickly and thoroughly that I really had no time to Freak Out. I didn't even get that warm, weak feeling all over the body that one gets when one encounters disaster. I sorta just went, "Oh well, I really FUBARed that one. The Comments are GONE! Freaking Out isn't gonna help, isn't gonna bring them back."

Therefore, I have no choice, but to start my Welcome Sticky Post Comments from scratch. You had to do that recently, Peppermint. And you had awesome results. I almost assuredly won't match that, but what's done is done.

Thanks for leaving your NEW Comments to start my Welcome Sticky Post Comments Sequel.

Dacotah 16. June 2009, 03:33

All you had to do was unsticky the MOTW post when you wanted too and the Welcome one you had would of been back on top.
:D

L2D2 16. June 2009, 03:49

See, conceit gets you in trouble! You should have asked Carol in the first place. I have discovered that she has a lot of savvy about how things work on Opera.

Sorry you lost all those priceless comments from me, Chuck. I know you will mourn them.

Suntana 16. June 2009, 03:50

Homer: Doh! Well, Carol, as Maxwell Smart would say, "Missed it by THAT much!" In hindsight, I should have obviously asked. But, when my stupid idea popped into my mind, it sounded sooo like it would work.

Hmmm? But, wait a minute, Carol. I just thought of something, a possible fly in the ointment. Okay, I can certainly see how removing the Sticky status from my MOTW Post would make my Welcome Sticky Post pop back up to the top. The thing is, I wanted to keep my MOTW Post as a Sticky Post, just in the 2nd position. How would that work? If I again assigned Sticky status to my MOTW Post after having removed it, it would pop back up on top? How could I have moved my MOTW Sticky Post to the 2nd position, while keeping both Sticky Posts - Sticky?

Dacotah 16. June 2009, 04:34

You can't. Just your MOTW post would go to your regular posts after you unsticky it.

Wait, I have an  Don't know if it would work or not.
You use the Opera browser, right?

Suntana 16. June 2009, 05:53

Yep, I use Opera Browser.

Dacotah 16. June 2009, 06:12

Well you know when you make a new post you can use the Post date/time:

(leave blank for current date and time) to put in what date and time you want your post to post. So for example, it's Tuesday morning now and you want to make up a post but don't want it to post til Friday you can put in Friday's date and time you want it. So I'm thinking you can edit a sticky post and change the date and time to make it show up as the first one. See? :D

L2D2 16. June 2009, 07:19

Sounds like worth a try Chuck.

Dacotah 16. June 2009, 07:21

Too late to try it now, he has this new Welcome sticky post, unless he saved his old welcome post by setting it to private.

L2D2 16. June 2009, 07:43

http://dev.opera.com/articles/view/an-introduction-to-opera-unite/
Ya'll I'm think this is the momentous announcement going to be made later this morning that Henry had on his blog about Opera "reinventing the internet. Just got this as a notification and started reading up about it. Using this Opera Unite, say, Carol, Chuck, Lucy, Pam and I could link our computers and play games, listen to music on a new music player they are installing, and actually talk to each other and interact, almost as though we were together in person. There's the link up there explaining it. We'll see if I am right.

L2D2 16. June 2009, 08:01

It sounds like a really neat thing when they get it in final release. Of course, it would be in development for years, learning as you go, but it sounds good.

You rang? banana

Suntana 16. June 2009, 15:04

Yes, Peppermint, I'm bummed that I lost all those priceless Comments from you and everyone else. But, it was an educational experience. On VH1, there is a Show titled - What Not to Wear. Maybe they should have a TV Show on there - What Not to Do on Your Blog.

Suntana 16. June 2009, 15:27

Carol, that sounds like a very good suggestion ... in theory. In reality, I don't know if it'll work. It's easy to see how the OC functionality would delay the posting up of a NEW Post to a date of your choosing. But, can and will the OC functionality actually allow for editing of an existing Post's posting date? I could be wrong and maybe it does work. I'm just at this second, thinking that for the sake of keeping things running smoothly in order, the OC would NOT allow that. It would probably cause chaos if the OC made it that easy for us to start manipulating existing Posts' posted date.

But, what the heck. It's worth a shot to verify. I wouldn't want to let a piece of knowledge go by if it can help in the future. Let's ask the Opera Master, the Wizard of Opera. :D Tamil ... Oh, Tamil! Are you around, Tamil? Paging Tamil.

So, Tamil ... CAN we edit an existing Post's posted date to manipulate its chronological order in a series of Sticky Posts?

Suntana 16. June 2009, 15:37

Carol, IF I had set my original UnFUBARed  Welcome Sticky Post to Private ... I wonder if the OC would have allowed me to create a NEW Post with the same title of "Welcome?"

Suntana 16. June 2009, 15:43

Yes, Tamil ... Lana, we do have banana s here on the Enterprise. Hmmm? I wonder if that should be the Suntanaprise or maybe the Chuckprise? And even if the fridge were to be out of Bananas, I'd just let y'all go over to the Holodeck for a fantasy experience in a Banana Tree forest!

 you can change post date/time by clicking advanced options in new blog post/edit blog post page. I changed my Welcome! post date to keep it at top and you can see original date in source.

Dacotah 16. June 2009, 16:02

:D :D :D :D

And yes you can make a post with the same title.

Suntana 16. June 2009, 16:10

Well, alright! Awesome!

Thanks for verifying that, Tamil!

And thanks for bringing up the suggestion, Carol!
You reminded me of an episode of Seinfeld. Jerry helps out his Pakistani friend with something. Jerry's friend then goes, "Ooooooo! You're very smart! You see EVERYTHING!"

I learned some Do's & Don'ts between yesterday and today, albeit at the expense of having lost all my original Welcome Sticky Post Comments. The ole saying says that "We learn by our mistakes." Well, after yesterday's Comments FUBAR stunt :insane:   ...
I made some strides towards becoming a Genius. :jester:

Dacotah 16. June 2009, 16:12

You are welcome Carlos, next time set your post to private first. :D

Pusilille 16. June 2009, 17:31

Just in to say THANK YOU Carlos!!
Thank-You
Hot Thank-You Graphics!

gdare 17. June 2009, 07:48

Everytime I see that Looney Tunes logo, I hear that music in my head :D

Suntana 17. June 2009, 14:00

Whoa! Wow, Mette, that's certainly the most interesting Thank You that I recall ever receiving. Yesterday the image didn't want to display, but it's up today. :D

L2D2 17. June 2009, 14:04

Bunny waggling tail. I thought that was a cutie. Very appropriate for you Chuck.

Suntana 17. June 2009, 14:05

Darko, in the 2nd Band I used to play with, that used to be our Intermission Song. :eyes: Yep, after the last song of each Set, we'd immediately break into that song to signal it was intermission time. The Party Animals would know it was time to leave the dance floor and go back to their seats. A few of the people would sometimes engage in some semblance of attempting to dance to it.

Suntana 17. June 2009, 14:10

Bunny wagging tail ... very appropriate for me, Peppermint?
I ... I ... Ay Caramba! In the legendary words of the Lion on the Wizard of Oz ...
"Huh Huh Huh! I'm speechless." :jester:

Pusilille 17. June 2009, 15:47

Just to do MY piece of teasing :D :D  :faint:

Suntana 17. June 2009, 15:52

And you did that very well, Mette!
You seem to have experience. You've done this before.
You'll fit in. I think we'll keep you.

Pusilille 17. June 2009, 16:19

You better do!!!
It would be all wrong....otherwise! hehe...

No, I love it in here! You are all so kind and you and....Peppermint are making so much spas and lifefullness (if such word exists) that you feel the energy in here!

L2D2 17. June 2009, 22:34

That is because we are both Texans, Mette. We Texans are a friendly, mischievous bunch. p: Not sure what the spas is, but we get your general meaning. I thank you.

Suntana 17. June 2009, 23:58

I never met a Mette I didn't like. Okay, so I had never met a Mette previously. p: But, the first one I've met is one fun, funny, razzing-ready, Cool Norwegian!

LanaBanana 18. June 2009, 00:38

Hi Mette! My very best friend, Lise, is from Norway.

L2D2 18. June 2009, 01:02

I introduced Mette to Agneta, the Swedish nurse lost in Norway. Guess it is only natural that Scandinavians would use Opera browser since it was developed in one of those countries, Norway or Sweden.

Suntana 18. June 2009, 03:07

Mette ... Lana has been a great friend of mine for years over on the AOL Message Boards.

Opera was developed in Norway and that's where Opera HQ is, Peppermint.

L2D2 18. June 2009, 03:46

Knew it was one or the other.

Pusilille 18. June 2009, 04:08

You are a fun blogger :D
I have to grab hold of my chair to not fall off when reading all funny stoff you all write!!
No, I guess you never met " a Mette " before  hehe...

Linda, I never knew a Texaner before. You are soooo cool p:
Opera being "made" in Norway??? WOW! I am PROUD!  :faint: Much I didn`t know I see.
I will learn as long as I live....until I die :faint:

Lana, is that LanaBanana? Hi Lana!
I know one Lise. Living outside Bergen. Guess it`s not her

My next stop in life will be Sweden. My second "home"

hugs to you all flirt and..... thanx

Zaphira 18. June 2009, 08:42

So...

Are we there yet??? :left:

I'm here. Leaving a comment.

Hi!! *waves*

Suntana 18. June 2009, 14:05

hi Zaph! I see you have a photographic memory. You remember your 1st Comment you left on my Blog. You remember everything. :insane: Uh Oh! That could be scary. Blackmail Alert! :left: :right:

Yeah, Zaph, we were ALMOST there. And then someone in the backseat misbehaved and as parents do when on a roadtrip ... I had to turn the car around back home. Then I had to start the roadtrip ... my Welcome Sticky Post all over again. But, it's beginning to take shape again, thanks to y'all!

LanaBanana 18. June 2009, 16:08

My Lise - short for Analise, was from near Bergen, but she is living in the States. She came over here when she got married many years ago and our kids went to school together. Then she went back to Norway to live about 15 years ago for 3 or 4 years, but now is back here, and I am so glad.

I bet your name is pronounced "Met-ta? Just like Lise is pronounced Lisa.

Suntana 18. June 2009, 16:47

WHAT? "Mette" is pronounced "Met-ta?"
But, but ... if so, that'll throw my "I've never met a Mette I didn't like" Comment off. nervous

Pusilille 18. June 2009, 17:13

Lana and Carlos  Hi again
My name is pronounced Mette! Not Metta!!!
When I was living in England for some time, 15 years old, they pronounced my name as Mættæ. But you folks don`t have that letter, so the nearest I get to is the same pronounciasion you have on the "a".

(good luck, but PLEASE don`t call me Metta!!!)

Suntana 18. June 2009, 17:59

Alright, then, Mette. Here on my Texan Blog, you're gonna be Mette ... pronounced - Met.

Zaphira 18. June 2009, 18:23

I wasn't misbehaving! Not this time! I did not!

(Ha - I can actually make the sound that Donkey makes from the back seat in the Shrek movie) :D

*bing*

Are we there yet????

P:

L2D2 18. June 2009, 18:40

Well, I see Met-tee so if that's wrong you have to say Mette, but I won't call you Metta. OK? :D
