Thanks

WOW! How did you make it? What tools did you use?

set 8. August 2009, 23:31

Nothing really special, I edited the default skin of v10 and removed speed dial borders and the entire field (I left default images in the skin, just made them 100% transparent ), then replaced thumbnails that Opera generated with the icons that I mentioned in the post. Had to convert them to .png's first, using @icon sushi and had to make the canvas a bit bigger (256x192pixels) with Paint.NET. As for the speed dial titles, as I said earlier, I used Tamil's tip to change them, and since I wanted entirely blank titles, and using a space/blank character didn't work, I just used a dot, it's barely noticeable.
And in the end, plain old wallpaper. p:

Took me around 2 hours to finish it up.

It's good, and the monotone really fits well with the new skin  Is the 'a' in myspace missing on purpose? P:

No idea, ask the icon author. :D

Is there a tutorial how to change the thumbnails in Opera 10 for mac? I can't find the folder...

Greg Smith 10. August 2009, 23:04

set 10. August 2009, 23:13

@boywithbag
thumbnails directory should be in here opera:config#UserPrefs|OperaLocalDirectory

Wow, amazing final result. Simple, classy, with taste.
If you could remove the number of the speed dials I think it would look even nicer.
Anyway, my favorites are your's and Tamils p:

Thanks, and yes, I couldn't find any way to remove them with my current setup. :frown:
But if you figure something out let me know. p:

IMO, Tamil's submission is the most inventive one.

Congrats on making it to the top of the officially cool Speed Dials

And files that need editing are: standard_skin.zip\backgrounds\speeddial.png and standard_skin.zip\backgrounds\speeddial-selected.png

Alexei 12. August 2009, 16:42

wait... how do you favorite this post? I don't see any buttons...

set 12. August 2009, 17:39

I hid all buttons with user.css. Try favoriting it via this direct link.

Alexei 12. August 2009, 20:52

Thanks for the link, but why would you want to remove those buttons?

set 12. August 2009, 23:18

I don't like their default style and position, and didn't have time to make something different, so I just hid them.

Alexei 13. August 2009, 00:01

Oh OK, that works
