You're so right about Canada having a new flag. The current flag is a direct result of the Liberal Party of Canada deciding to change our grand old flag(red ensign)due to it's British connection. Canadians didn't even have a choice as to what design was chosen. We woke up one morning to see a boring and simple flag design flying from the nations flag poles. For a country as colourful and diverse as Canada is, this flag does nothing to represent our culture to the rest of the world. Here's a few questions that should be asked in regards to this flag. What do the red bars stand for? The Red Sea perhaps? I haven't figured that out yet. And what about the white center? Canada's snowcover in the winter? The maple leaf resembles a logo for a corporation or a sports team. In fact, I've seen better designed flags flying from supermakets and gas stations. This flag was not born from revolution, does not represnt a historical moment in our history and was never carried into battle. It merely represents the ego of a Liberal Prime Minister. I refuse to fly this flag in my home and while serving in the military, I never seen it as a banner that was worthy of fighting under. The time has come for a REAL flag to represent one of the finest nations on this planet.
