kids, Parenting., family, Parents
I haven't written a post in a while, because honestly I haven't had much to say.
First storm of the season hit yesterday, and Branden drew up a three page snow removal contract that I guess I'm supposed to sign..I loved his "in case of financial difficulties" clause.

He also added late payment charges @ 3 dollars a day! (That's my boy!)

The funniest part is the signature section...where I'm supposed to agree to being gauged by signing the contract.
I'm going to be in Ottawa Monday to Thursday, I'll be checking in now and then, but I won't be around much. Gonna get some Christmas shopping done, and spend some time with my Grams. She wants me to teach her to play some card games.

That'll be fun!
I am addicted to OVERLORD! It's an adventure game played on the 360. The fun part is having minions that do what they are told:lol:..so not like having children! The game is also available for PC.
Have a fantastic day guys!

I had no idea I collected lawn mowers until my sons cleaned my six car shed!

It may already be after midnight, I'm not entirely certain so I'm writing this post thinking it's Friday when in fact it may be Saturday.
It was a PD day for the kids which means no school today. Me in my infinate wisdom, decided the boys should sweep/organise the garage..*OK so it's really a shed, but garage sounds fancier*
Anyways, Jacob comes into the house crying shortly after with a gory sliced hand. (The muscle directly below the thumb) So I called Steph at work, informing him of Jake's need for stiches, and asking him to drive Jake to the Hawkesburry emergency. I do wish I still had a drivers licence sometimes.
I went out to my six car shed
and checked around for sharp stuff and noticed a steel trim around the base of the walls. I guess that's what Jake sliced himself on, poor kid.
He ended up being stiched and getting a tetanus shot.
I babied him like a good mother should and I think that might have pissed him off a little. 12 is a very macho, I don't wanna be babied age for boys.. but he was crying which provokes instinctual mass (s)mothering.
Oh ya there is some good news- I am bursting with pride. Amanda and Branden got their report cards and Branden's average was 85!!! I think I might have danced in the street (NAKED?) after seeing that, and I may have shown his report card to several random strangers.
As for Amanda, I passed her English course, *lol* musn't let her read this post or she'll kill me for saying that.*
She also did quite well, but she could have done better. Still very proud of her for her 70% average and in celebration of their great marks we'll be going for Chinese on Sunday.
I am so tired right now, time to catch some Zzzz's.
See ya all tommorow (or later today)

Branden recently approached me with a puzzled expression on his face and asked-
Mom what's a walkman?
Jacob recently came running into my room and let me know that Matthew was playing with my big black CD's!!
I asked Amanda to join me to watch a movie. She in turn, asked me what year it was made. I said 1986.
She looked at me, and said "No thanks mom, I don't like black and white movies!!"

parenting, kids, mom
People always ask me how I manage with five children. I'm going to let you all in on a well kept secret:
I don't manage. I have more grey hairs than a grey wig factory, but every parent stresses over their children. Every day stuff like: Is he going to be warm enough? Did I remember to throw an extra pair of mitts in his bag?
But what takes to be a mom of five is strength, and lots of laundry detergent.
We have good days, when everything goes smoothly and I haven't had to douce any of them with peroxide.
And we have bad days, when nerves are stretched and tempers are flared. I take a time out for myself, and maybe take a ten minute bath. With only one washroom ten minutes is a luxury..there is always someone pounding on the door yelling "HURRY UP MOM!" I can practically see the yeller jumping up and down in distress and holding their crotch. Not sure why we do that, jumping doesn't distract thee bladder from it's intent to empty.
To have five children one must love to cook, and be tollerant of dirty dishes. 3 meals a day plus two snacks multiplied by six people can obviously only eaqual dishpan hands. I don't have the luxury of a dishwasher, in fact I wouldn't know how to use one if I did have said luxury.
Sure having five children is a good deal of work, but moments that I cherish make all that work seem like very little effort. Simple things like watching a movie together really do make my life a great place to be.

Amanda, naked guys, daughter, kids
...
My Amanda isn't so little anymore.
Hard to believe she was born 3 months preterm and weighing 1 pound 12 ounces.
When using her cell the other day I noticed a google search she had done..
"Hot naked men"
Yay! My daughter is straight was my first thought..then I decided not to mention it to her. I figured the look but don't touch rule applies here.

kids, Halloween, fun, costumes
...
This halloween I asked the kids to come up with their own costumes.
Danika decided to be a dead teenage boy...That was easy, some of her brothers clothes and makeup by Amanda.
Matthew wanted to be a clown. I think he's the cutest clown ever!
Jacob wanted to be a woman.
Amanda did his makeup and chose clothes for him from her wardrobe. He is wearing a pair of 1" heels, and having fun with that!
Amanda and Branden decided not to dress up this year. I think they have outgrown trick or treating.
I'm definately trick or treating this year. I'll be wearing a ball gown, makeup and a ruby coloured eye mask.
I plan on raking in all that candy goodness. YUM!
Happy halloween guys!

family, kids, life
Today wasn't nearly as exciting as yesterday. The kidlets got on the right bus and safely to the right school..
I did my laundry..( I'm by no means fond of doing laundry but I don't share Mug's contempt for the chore) I picked up a few items for supper- chicken, salad stuff and an apple pie.
I went home and decided to walk my dog. We wound up down by the river where we contemplated great things...like -how come those two city workers are fast asleep in their truck..and how do I get a job like that?
I returned home and started up the BBQ...and started supper. I wasn't particularly hungry so I watched everyone else eat. (Mark it on the calender Mugs...I wasn't hungry!)
Now I have to tuck the kids in and I think I'll curl up with a book and read myself to sleep.
Good night...sweet dreams.

This is my favorite image of Matt, who was making me feel horrible for putting him on time out. He is definitely spoiled.
Ada and Matt- Silly kidlets!
My kids playing a game of hockey this winter.
