Random Ramblings

of a mother of five!

Silly thoughts from my childhood.

, ,

I remember being frightened by my fathers snoring. I was maybe four years old, and I had visions of giant dinosaurs stomping down the short second floor hallway to my bedroom.

Of course the dinosaurs had already gobbled up the rest of my family and I was all alone. I couldn't even hide under my bed because the boogeyman and his evil side-kick, the sandman resided there.

At about age of four i used to frighten all grown-up visitors who were teasing me, with turning on the gas stove (who didn't have one and didn't know how it worked).

Tab 26. September 2009, 11:47

Lol...kids are funny!

Ana 26. September 2009, 11:51

They really are! We who work with them, or have them, we know that best!

Tab 26. September 2009, 11:52

I agree

der Wandersmann 26. September 2009, 15:02

Rats under my bed.

Tab 26. September 2009, 15:04

Rats are a regular thing under my bed LOL..so that would not scare me!

Lovinmalamutes 27. September 2009, 15:38

Oh yes the boogie man under the bed, & in the closet. I remember them well. I would jump from the dresser to my bed to keep from being on the floor because the boogie man would for sure grab my legs. I almost killed my silly self when I jumped and instead of landing on my bed I hit the window sill which was a nice sharp corner. I don't remember how many stitches I got for that one.

Tab 27. September 2009, 15:41

That's hillarious! My stomach hurts because I'm laughing maniacly.

Lovinmalamutes 27. September 2009, 16:07

I laugh about it now, but back then at the ripe old age of 6 years old I was quite offended if anyone pointed out my stupidity.

Tab 27. September 2009, 16:15

If you can't laugh at yourself..who the heck can ya laugh at.

I do silly things all the time. I function on absentmindeness.. lol.

der Wandersmann 27. September 2009, 17:54

I'm not sure where to find it, but I heard an interview of Berk Breathed on the radio once where he told about the monster hiding in his closet ... I thought I would split from laughing.

daxonmacs 27. September 2009, 17:58

I always thought there was someone or something hiding under my bed as a kid, either burglars or wolves. It made of feel highly uncomfortable. Once in my bed I was safe though. Lol, the logic behind this is still escaping me.

Tab 27. September 2009, 18:14

Children aren't very logical beings.

Laughing makes us feel good inside..Mugs and I always laugh at the silliest things, often until we're crying.

Lovinmalamutes 27. September 2009, 18:16

I know what you mean when you say, so long as you were in your bed you were safe. I too felt I was safe then, and I still wonder what the logic was to that as a child. And where did I get the Idea that as long as I was in bed I was safe. Did our parents tell us that???

Tab 27. September 2009, 18:25

Blankets seem to provide security. As I mentioned in my post I hid under my blankets. LoL not that blankets could provide any protection, but a false sence of security is better than no security.

der Wandersmann 27. September 2009, 19:33

Camouflage
I got this from Zaphira. It seems pertinent.

And when it comes to illogicality, how 'bout how a little kid is scared when you pull the plug out of the bathtub drain? He thinks he'll get sucked down the hole.

Probably the source of a lot of fetishes, now that I think about it.

Tab 27. September 2009, 20:05

I never had that fear, in fact I can recall swirling my index finger clockwise around the drain while the tub emptied in order to create mock tornados.. I was facinated by the swirling water.

The fetish idea escapes me, and I'm without a doubt, thankfull for that.

daxonmacs 27. September 2009, 20:17

Yup, a classical case of tornado fetishism.

Tab 27. September 2009, 20:22

LMFAO...tornado fetish...haha

der Wandersmann 27. September 2009, 21:57

LOLOLOL

Apparently you folks haven't been prowling the darker corners of the 'Net the way I have. There are some strange folk out there.

Tab 27. September 2009, 22:13

I tend to avoid dark corners as I would avoid a deserted alley.

daxonmacs 27. September 2009, 22:33

I've seen a fair share both on the Net and in real life. It's not always blatantly obvious what goes on behind the shown and shared.

Tab 27. September 2009, 23:09

I don't venture into unknown territory online, simply to avoid seeing such things.

Though when I did a search for *hot male bods* and everything I found lead to gay porn sites... *SHUDDERS*

That was the almost last time I searched for pics of men online!

Karen 28. September 2009, 03:29

Homer: Doh! That must've been pretty scary for you. My Dad snored like a freakin' bear, but it never scared me. Actually, it made me laugh my ass off most of the time. :D

Love the post!

Tab 28. September 2009, 10:42

Thanks Karen..glad you enjoyed it...I have a surprise coming up and this is sort of leading into it.

der Wandersmann 28. September 2009, 15:00

If the surprise has anything to do with Matty's books, there's nothing there.

Tab 28. September 2009, 15:38

haah..no I deleted that-for now.

Lovinmalamutes 28. September 2009, 17:12

I'm with you Tab, I don't want to look in dark corners, or walk down dark alleys. I am not wanting to know what is in those corners, or down those alleys. I am certain it wouldn't be anything good.

Tab 30. September 2009, 14:42

I wouldn't walk any alley without my Rottweiler, that's for sure.

Karen 30. September 2009, 15:24

I was wondering what happened to "Matty's Books"!!!

Lovinmalamutes 30. September 2009, 16:10

I would go down the alley with both my dogs too. They are Alaskan Malamute mix, and good sized. They are about 90lbs. each and they will protect me. :D

Lovinmalamutes 30. September 2009, 16:11

BTW Who is Matty and what about his books?

Tab 30. September 2009, 16:28

Matty is my five year old boy. His books were on sale lol.

I was shocked that Bambi's mom died. Yes I really do live under a rock!

der Wandersmann 30. September 2009, 16:33

When I went down the alley at midnight with my dog, I carried a gun. My dog was a big girl, but she thought that anyone outdoors had come out to pet her. She needed the protection.

daxonmacs 30. September 2009, 16:52

Lol did she keep you on a leech?
I just walked down everything that caught my interest, at a certain point in my life. I had, and still have, this strong conviction that nothing happens to you unless you ask for it or deserve it.
I must admit this may seem or sound hard to take for some, but that's how I see it.

Tab 30. September 2009, 20:16

Then I must be a horrible person.

daxonmacs 1. October 2009, 00:07

That's not what I meant or tried to say. Hm, maybe my English is horrible.
Anyway, I was not referring to karma or such if that is how you understood it.

Tab 1. October 2009, 15:35

No worries. I wasn't offended. I do believe in karma to some extent. One reeps what they sew.

daxonmacs 1. October 2009, 17:37

Glad you weren't offended, it was not my intention.
I think I meant something like people that are scared attracking bullies etc just because they are scared (and show and thus to some extent invite bullies).

Tab 1. October 2009, 18:18

I do agree with you on that. Showing weakness may provoke an individual to cause harm.
