You can take away some and still have the whole left...
What is it?

Do not use a calculator to figure this out. On a bus between Ottawa and Toronto you pick up 16 passengers in Ottawa.

12 get on in Carleton place and 4 get off.

8 more get on in smith falls and 7 get off,

3 people board in Bancroft, and 4 get off

14 get on in Barrie and 9 get off,

18 more get on in Scarborough and 13 get off.

WHO IS THE BUS DRIVER?

i got the four and i got the bus driver but i never got "what is between a duck." missed umbrella and wholesome, but what is the answer to "what is between a duck?"

Tabmartel 27. October 2009, 14:44

One of it's legs are both the same is the answer.

It is a play on singular and plural after all you are being asked to compare a duck to itself.

I_ArtMan 27. October 2009, 17:02

thanks for the answer. wow, that is obtuse. i like riddles you could figure out if you kept thinking about it.
like: what goes around the world but stays in one corner?

derWandersmann 27. October 2009, 18:07

Postage stamp.

Tabmartel 27. October 2009, 18:49

Artman good riddle, I would have had to twist my brain around it for a while.

I also liked DW's duck riddle, it was a favorite of my late grandfather, and brought back some great memories.
