Opera ad block filters
Saturday, 21. October 2006, 09:53:35
Try Opera or Opera Mini to see the difference.
If you are new to content blocking in Opera, see tutorial.
Easy way to block ads is to disabling the IFrames & JavaScript globally and enabling them for required sites in site preferences.
To block particular JavaScript or IFrame ad in a page, open info panel, note path under Scripts or Inline frames and add it to content blocker.
To block flash use Flashblock for Opera 9.
From Opera 9.50, you can enable/disable content blocker globally using Block Ads button or per site basis using site preferences.
- Large urlfilter.ini file will increase startup time of Opera.
- You will get blank page when you try to visit a site blocked by content blocker.
A frequently updated filters can be downloaded from
- www.fanboy.co.nz/adblock/
- pgl.yoyo.org/as/
- www.technobeta.com/posts/opera-ads/
- Ad Blocking FiltersetP CSS
- Filterset.G User JS
- AdSweep User JS
Optimized filter to block most of the ads

here is one of the ads
http://m1.2mdn.net/1384245/0309_auto_discounts_coupon_728x90.swf
http://content.yieldmanager.edgesuite.net/atoms/*
The ads on blogtv seem to be flash and shcokwave based
according to the info panel on Opera they have a few ad scripts
Also some video site will not work unless the ads are shown

idk, I did what I mentioned before...which caused alot of problems, pasted the adblock list back in the urlfilter file and it worked. I'm wondering if it was just taking Opera awhile to load and block all the links on the adblock list, this attempt did work at removing all the ads(at least the ones on Blogtv..
Also I had tried blocking the individual ads, but it seemed the ads were being replaced with different ad groups on each reload, which was annoying.

@Tamil, here's a translation to the hindi post by "Hanuman Bhakt" 10 July 2007, in response to your post about it.
"Hello brother, where is Hanuman ji taking Opera to? Has
Internet browsing become necessary for him too? Well, if so,
what information does he need? Do you know?"
Hope this helps, @Tamil.

There’s an error in your site header: FAQ his what?
Or do you not know the difference between “FAQs” and “FAQ’s”. The “’s” is short for “his”!

wouldnt it be better to just add the INI info then the filter in your list, and tell people to right click and save as to the profile directory?
thats what I do I right click on the list on www.fanboy.co.nz/adblock/ and save it to my opera profile directory, then the file saves itself as a .ini file...+ works the same on ccs files ect....

So I created it and placed the urlfilter.ini there but still no luck.
I also installed the widgets, should I remove it? Perhaps this is the problem

Hi,
I've tried find urlfilter.ini and such file isn't in mobile.
Now while using opera mobile I few questions:
1) How to create such file that contain series of websites?
2) where exactly to put it?
3) is there a way to simply put *.somewhere.com

...or you can use Ad Muncher ( http://shop.admuncher.com/ ), supports all the browsers, have a lot of functions and daily filter list updates, it is a lot much better than any adblocker. It's not free but definitely worth the money.

Hello. I have a list with blocked site like advert* and other. But I need one site to be "unblocked" www.adverts.ie (whole site). How to ad this to urlfilter.ini without removing advert* from exclude list?I know it should be in include but i can get it to work - because prioritet for exclude is higher.
