Me neither could change any of the shortcuts and it pisses me off..
Anonymous # 27. March 2008, 00:23
This didn't work at all. I can change stuff all day long, but it doesn't actually change the shortcut.

Can you you not just add the keyboard shortcut to the existing keyboard set-up (i.e. without going through the duplication process)?

How do I make it CTRL+Left Mouse Click to open new tab?

Example: if you have the def Copy & next character & paste in effect, and you open the dialog and delete the "copy &" and hit OK, the change will not register. You needed to click "paste" on the picklist - even though it was already present. (Doing so doesn't generate another Paste.) As a simple rule: if a picklist is open, the assigment won't register.

So what I did was go into the Preferences > shortcut sections, find out what the action is for a Page Forward and assigned it the letter 'f' since I wasn't using 'f' for anything else anyway. I repeated this for the 'b', 'j', 'k' respectively. If you're familiar with the vi-editor, you'll know what i mean. I assigned 'r' to be a refresh.
I didn't see any issues assigning these things to a single key as opposed to ctrl-key, only because when you're browsing a webpage, do you have any use for f, b, j, k, r , and others anyway? And why waste a step with pressing the Ctrl button.
Sure, I have to remember what I assigned, but if you have a vi editor background, it's second nature. And I love it the Opera even gives me the ability to do this. Firefox, forget about it. And who wants to install all those dang plugins. Who has the time?
Anyway, my vote is for single shortcut keys w/o the need for Ctrl.
ps. I use 'n' for new tab, 'c' for close tab,
1 and 2 are already assigned.
z and z are already assigned

Tamil, what action should one need to select to "close other tabs" and "close all tabs"? Opera used to have "ctrl + alt + shift + w" and "ctrl + alt + w" for these purposes.

Hi, I clicked and dragged "Find in Page" on to the Address bar from Tools > Appearance > Search. Now, I want to set a keyboard shortcut to set focus to it. How do I do it?
Thanks.

Look at this picture: http://img515.imageshack.us/my.php?image=newsfeed2jo1.png
I go up and down in the list (1 on the picture) with the arrow keys and want to open the article link (2 on the picture) in background, without the list losing its focus, so I don't have to click on the list to have it focused again.

Thank you very much!
I just added "& Reload" and now i'm looking forward to each site which wants me to turn my javascript on :-)
Anonymous # 23. October 2008, 14:23
hm, "& Reload" seems to be not working.
after reading through links from this post - http://my.opera.com/dude09/blog/2008/02/12/how-to-create-buttons-for-opera
I finally figured it out -> "& Delay,1 & Reload" works fine.
thanks again for your help.

How can I use mixed mouse+keyboard shortcuts? Like RightClick+Ctrl+F6 == Back? (On my mouse this is the RightClick+scrollLeft)
Tamil # 10. December 2008, 12:35
AFAIK, not possible.
Anonymous # 11. December 2008, 14:14
"Go to page, "opera:blank""
Thx, Tamil. But I didn't make it clear, I wanted to create an Additional new blank tab, not in the current tab.

I keep (mis)hitting Ctrl+q when I want to type Ctrl+w (close window/tab) - any tips on how to disable the Ctrl+q key sequence?

Is there a way of finding text as you type, without having to press full-stop each time to activate it? Everywhere I've looked so far has only suggested the integrated search, but this is no good for me as I lose the ability to scroll in a page using the arrow keys. It also only works per tab and I'm not sure how to select links because after searching for the text to highlight the link, pressing enter takes me to the next word/sentence instead of opening it.
I've tried going into keyboard shortcuts and taking away the . from 'find inline 1' but this did not work.
I'm surprised this feature was taken out of Opera as many people view it as invaluable and shy away from Opera for that very reason.

And how can we edit such shortcuts that combine left/right mouse click and keyboard buttons?
I also tried to make a mouse gesture to show image properties and tried it on a page containing only an image but it still doesn't work. Neither does it work on normal pages with images.

For all the ppl who had problems. I tried to change the back and forward keys because i don't like pressing 2 buttons for it. So i followed the steps shown by tamil. At first it didn't work because i changed ctrl + left to "Z". If you do that do not forget to check the "use sintle key shortcuts" checkbox.

Hi, thanks for the helpful instructions. First I changed "f ctrl" to "f". Success. Then I tried to swap the shortcuts for "Open link in new page" and "Open link in background page" by inserting / deleting "ctrl" in the column on the left. Didn't work. I tried it in both Copy of Opera Standard and Copy of Opera 9.2 Compatible (in keyboard setup).
