I'd like to make this last part of the process more efficient. Any creative ideas?

that going to
sudo gedit /usr/share/opera/ui/standard_keyboard.ini
sudo gedit /usr/share/opera/ui/standard_keyboard_compat.ini
allowed me to make changes which work and hold
not sure the second needs modifying but I did both to be sure
First scan with Search in your text editor to make sure there will no clashes
I wanted to move F11 to F3 for Enter fullscreen | Leave fullscreen
as I have a new keyboard which goes to F6 and no further
So i replaced in Browser Window [scrolldown to find it]
Platform Windows-Unix-MCE, F11 = Enter fullscreen | Leave fullscreen
with
Platform Windows-Unix-MCE, F3 = Enter fullscreen | Leave fullscreen
F3 is normally for find but i do not use that [of course use the one you want]

I'm not too worried about losing changes during an upgrade. For one thing, I'm not planning to upgrade again any time soon; for another, I have had very good results using osie to port customizations from one opera installation to another; and finally I don't mind re-doing a couple of customization procedures that osie doesn't manage to preserve.
What I'm trying to do is automate a slightly complex procedure. The link to the target language is not always at the same place on the page. It depends on how many languages the article has been translated to. (If it were always at the same place on the page, I could use a macro recorder like tinytask.)

I go to Prefrences -> Shortcuts -> Edit... -> New... and type - alt into "Input context and shotcuts" and Insert,"—" into "Actions"
Then press [Alt]+[-] and nothing happens. I tried various shortcuts and texts - nothing works.
