Just delete the keyboard shortcuts you don't want.

Hi, I wonder if this is possible? I hope I'm posting the question in the right place. I do a lot of translating, and often, in order to check what word or phrase is used for a particular meaning, I use the following procedure: I look up the larger topic in wikipedia in English, and then I look at the translation links on the left. I can either scroll down as needed until I see my desired language present or, alas, not present, or I can do a find on page.

I'd like to make this last part of the process more efficient. Any creative ideas?

on Ubuntu 11.10 i found after a fair amount of searching

that going to

sudo gedit /usr/share/opera/ui/standard_keyboard.ini

sudo gedit /usr/share/opera/ui/standard_keyboard_compat.ini

allowed me to make changes which work and hold

not sure the second needs modifying but I did both to be sure

First scan with Search in your text editor to make sure there will no clashes

I wanted to move F11 to F3 for Enter fullscreen | Leave fullscreen
as I have a new keyboard which goes to F6 and no further

So i replaced in Browser Window [scrolldown to find it]

Platform Windows-Unix-MCE, F11 = Enter fullscreen | Leave fullscreen

with

Platform Windows-Unix-MCE, F3 = Enter fullscreen | Leave fullscreen

F3 is normally for find but i do not use that [of course use the one you want]

You should not edit default keyboard setup as Opera will update it during upgrade.

aparente001 Thursday, January 5, 2012 1:43:41 PM

Shantiq, I don't understand very well.

I'm not too worried about losing changes during an upgrade. For one thing, I'm not planning to upgrade again any time soon; for another, I have had very good results using osie to port customizations from one opera installation to another; and finally I don't mind re-doing a couple of customization procedures that osie doesn't manage to preserve.

What I'm trying to do is automate a slightly complex procedure. The link to the target language is not always at the same place on the page. It depends on how many languages the article has been translated to. (If it were always at the same place on the page, I could use a macro recorder like tinytask.)

Anonymous writes: I'm trying to add shortcuts for Disable Text Selection Mode and Enable Text Selection Mode, but it's not working. I can add button to the toolbar which does the same thing (Shift + F12 > Buttons > Browser View), but I'd prefer the shortcut. Do you know why it's not working? I think it might be because I created the shortcuts in Copy of Opera Standard but Opera 9.2 Compatible is selected and I can't unselect it. Do you think deleting it might fix my issue? Is that safe to do?

Tamil Sunday, February 12, 2012 10:49:02 AM

Use the following action code.
Disable Text Selection Mode | Enable Text Selection Mode

Unregistered user Monday, February 13, 2012 12:01:06 PM

Anonymous writes: Thanks. I do use that action code, and it doesn't work. When I break it in half and just use Disable Text Selection Mode, and then Enable Text Selection Mode as a separate shortcut, it at least gets a little picture of the hand button next to it, so it seems like it's going to work, but it doesn't actually work in the end. Any more ideas?

It works for me. confused

Unregistered user Tuesday, February 14, 2012 11:58:48 AM

Anonymous writes: I worked it out. I was right in thinking that it was because Opera 9.2 Compatible was selected instead of Copy of Opera Standard. So after I entered my shortcuts (the one you suggested, only as two separate shortcuts) I just selected Copy of Opera Standard and clicked Ok and it worked. I could have sworn that I already tried that, but I guess not!

Unregistered user Thursday, February 16, 2012 11:15:06 AM

Anonymous writes: Oh yeah, and Disable Text Selection Mode | Enable Text Selection Mode works now too, as long as I hit Enter after I enter the shortcut and select Copy of Opera Standard properly.

Anonymous writes: its sad opera never got what people want : to have a tab starting everytime again and again (even the subtabs) with my google home page. Just have a look at Internet Explorer ! If MS can do it, why cant Opera. Is is soooooooooooooo difficult to listen to customers. As long as Opera doesn't fix this issue, Ill continue with IE9 and Firefox. Maybe a bit slower, but at least they do what the customer want.... OPERA LISTEN AND ACT UPON UR CUSTOMERS COMPLAINS...Bye OPERA

Yes, copy and paste content of keyboard directory inside profile directory.

Help! Insert action is not working in Opera 12.10

I go to Prefrences -> Shortcuts -> Edit... -> New... and type - alt into "Input context and shotcuts" and Insert,"—" into "Actions"
Then press [Alt]+[-] and nothing happens. I tried various shortcuts and texts - nothing works.

How do you know that 0.2 second delay is not executed?

Unregistered user Saturday, December 1, 2012 2:29:03 PM

hair pulling writes: Ok Im running it across 80 tabs open at once. Holding the key down I have found a answer that says as I am holding the key it does delay first but sends key stroke on to the other pages while first is still delaying. so they only delayed until first is done then all have already timed out. SO Im trying to find a function that I can hold down key but it will only go to next page once delay is done.

Try with delay value of 1000.
