This preference panel in v.9x is missing that option. Is it hiding somewhere else?

If i am not wrong

this topic is about keeping the active tab open and allowing the links which are present on the webpage (in the active tab) to open silently (i.e. the new tab does not get focus).

If i am right : it doesn't work for me.

@Rounak, When gmail loads it will focus gmail tab even if you are viewing any other tab. If you enable above setting, you will remain in the tab you are currently viewing.

suppose i open this webpage -->

http://my.opera.com/AyushJ/blog/index.dml/tag/UserJS

now i click on the following link on the above webpage

http://files.myopera.com/AyushJ/scripts/snap-links.js

what happens is :

the link (http://files.myopera.com/AyushJ/scripts/snap-links.js) opens in a new tab (and it becomes active/focussed)

and the current tab (http://my.opera.com/AyushJ/blog/index.dml/tag/UserJS) loses focus.

I dont want this to happen. I want to remain on the current tab and let the new tab open silently without becoming active..

Can you plz help?

Thanks in advance.

Use anyone of the following.
  1. Right click on link and select Open in Background Tab
  2. Configure mouse middle button to Open in Background Tab (Press SHIFT+Mouse middle button to configure)
  3. CTRL+SHIFT+Click on link

Help! writes: Hi Tamil, could you please help me with this problem? I have my middle mouse button set to "open in background tab". So if I click on a link, the tab pops up in the background which is fine, BUT, the currently open window (the page which is "active" and the link was on) loses focus. By that I mean if I want to click another link on the SAME PAGE, I must click twice. Once to "regain" focus and once more to actually activate the link. Doing some more testing, right clicking then selecting "open in background tab" does not have this issue. Is there a way to fix this? I think this problem only started in Opera 8 and has since carried over.

I don't have any problems with middle mouse button to open link in background.
