Is there a way to delete google from the search engines list?

Rename search.ini to search.ini.bak in Opera installation directory and restart Opera.

is it possible to increase the width of the search (engine) box?

No, but you can use address bar (F2 or F8) to search by inserting keyword before search term. g opera will search for opera using google search engine.

Thanks again; Regards.

I'd like to nominate you for an Opera Award. The process isn't terribly clear ;(

Here's what I'm thinking:

1. Your username is Tamil, right?

2. I take the link you showed and then a link http://my.opera.com/community/competition/form/ and ended up in a place that asks for 'competition answer'.

3. Seems like there should be a dialog box that says:

Enter Blog Writer's Username
Enter Category.

Sorry to be so dense sad I'm looking for a drive through window wink

I haven't been able to change the Speed Dial search from Ask to Google in Opera 9.50.

Rename search.ini to search.ini.bak in Opera installation directory and restart Opera. Note this will remove default search engines.

Last year with Opera 7 or 8 ... I never could figure out how to change the default search engine.

With 9 it is easy. Thank you Opera programmers for finally making this an easy thing to do.

Hoorah.

Doesn't work for me. I wanted to add Dogpile, or ANY metasearch/multiple search engine but after completing the Add form fields, if i press OK nothing happens. Cancel works tho!
Sigh- Opera is infinitely customizable if you have infinite time, patience, and technical skills....

Vivek writes: To change the dafault search engine to one that opera currently doesn't have, do the following. I am using Bing as an example however this should work for any search engine. 1. Go to www.bing.com (or the main page of your search engine) 2. Type in 'Test' and hit enter. 3. In the address bar of the result page, replace the word 'Test' with '%s' and copy the whole URL. 4. Go to Tool-> Preferences-> Search and click 'Add' 5. Give the new search engine a name and a unique keyword and paste the URL you just copied to the address field. 6. Select set as default if you want this engine as your default search engine.

Is there a way to remove the search field completely on speed dials page? Search field on toolbar is enough for me, and I would like to get more space for speed dials.
