Could you explain things a little more here so that someone can understand it better. I , myself, got confused!

I was refering your page to this forum post(http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=175093) and before that I never tried it!

Say , like the post, I want to remove histories of "find in page" search. I only have these entries in opera6.ini file. Now which one to remove?
File_types_treeview=""rar", "pdf""
Input_treeview=""bar""
Bookmarks View=""vl""

Thanks in advanced!

I like and use MRUs (in other browsers). How do I turn on drop down most recently used lists in Opera -- specifically the ver 10 ßeta?

Tamil Saturday, January 10, 2009 2:32:33 PM

If you want to remove only bookmarks search history delete the line starting with Bookmarks View under [Matches] section.

Delete search_field_history.dat file inside Opera directory.

Unregistered user Monday, July 5, 2010 11:00:15 AM

Haku writes: deleting search_field_history.dat will only delete opera's current search history. The next time u will open opera the file will be recreated and opera will continue to save search history. If u want opera to not keep any search history do the following: 1. open search_field_history.dat with notepad 2. delete all its content if there is any 3. save and close the file 4. make the file read only

Tamil Monday, July 5, 2010 11:43:54 AM

You can delete previous searches by highlighting the search term and clicking the delete button at right side.

Delete the line starting with History View in operaprefs.ini after closing Opera.

Tamil Friday, July 30, 2010 5:57:03 AM

Firefox is much better and simpler to use when one wants to delete search history. I am surprised that Opera is full of different gimmicks to reconfigure the program, yet there is no simple way to delete the search history.

Tamil Friday, September 17, 2010 4:10:49 AM

Do you mean search engine history?

Anonymous writes: I completely agree with #17 above me...Opera is moving farther and farther away from its roots. I have been using opera since Opera 3.5, but I am becoming more and more dismayed by new and 'improved' versions of Opera. If the next release or two doesn't put the power back in the hands of the user, I will be moving on to something better. The fact that I can't even control my search history any more is infuriating. What is more, there doesn't seem to be any reason for removing functionalities that Opera used to offer.

Jim writes: With one search I found out how to control those annoying "suggestions" that google displays in drop downs in it's home screen. It took me a couple of searches to find out how to do the same in that massive mess called Microsoft. I've just spent two hours trying to modify the quick search box and I HAVE NO IDEA. I'm like # 20 above. I've used Opera for years, from 3.5 ... but opera today is like an open source project that's gone wild! It rivals the baseball rulebook and the domestic mail manual for complexity of documentation. Needless to say, I'm looking for a new browser.
