Formatting tools with animated smilies in My Opera quick reply/comment/reply to PM

, , , , , , , , ,

This script was created by AyushJ & posted in User JavaScript forum.

This script adds formatting tools (b, i, u, align, list, url, font, color, etc...) in quick reply/comment/reply to PM.

This script also supports keyboard shortcuts. Press Ctrl key (don't hold it) then press shortcut key. Example: To activate bold, press Ctrl then press B.

I added 21 26 33 38 41 animated smilies to this script including the following one.

Dance smiley
Dance smiley

You can add your smilies by changing the following.

MySmilies = 0; //-- Set to 1 if you want to use your smilies
MySmiliesBase='http://files.myopera.com/' // Path to your smilies folder
var MySmiliesList={
// Add your smilies below. Example:    'Smiley1'    : 'Smiley1.gif',    'Smiley2'    : 'Smiley2.gif',    'Smiley3'    : 'Smiley3.gif'
}

Download my.opera-quick-reply.js and place it inside your UserJS folder.

If you don't have UserJS folder, create one inside your profile and enter path to it in Tools > Preferences... > Advanced > Content > JavaScript Options... > User JavaScript files

Formatting tools with animated smilies in My Opera comments

  • Script will work only in Opera desktop browser.
  • You can't have animated smilies on the same line as My Opera smilies. But you can use HTML image tag to show more than one smiley in a line.

liquid snake 22. May 2008, 19:37

i saved your script ,then,log in to my page,then -
my account>files>create a new directory - userJS> then i uploaded your script file into this directory.

am i doing it correctly? but now what to do next.... plz help.

Tamil 22. May 2008, 19:42

You have to do this in your system not in My Opera account.

Click this, note the path to Opera directory and create a new folder (userjs) there. Copy & paste the following in address bar, enter path to UserJS folder and save.
opera:config#User JavaScript File

liquid snake 22. May 2008, 20:04

but tell me one thing that this can be done only when we use opera browser , but i am using IE currently?

Tamil 22. May 2008, 20:12

:yes: You can't do it in IE.

liquid snake 23. May 2008, 07:58

serola 23. May 2008, 08:36

@ Tamil - Maybe you should mention it in instructions that this works only for desktop Opera browsers. For me it was clear, but maybe there are also others who does not know where this actually affect.

Download script again or add the following below the line // and if the quick-edit script(author:João) is installed, in Quick Edit box.
// @include http://my.opera.com/*/albums/showpic.dml?album=*

Tamil 28. October 2008, 09:51

Copy & paste the following in address bar, enter path to UserJS folder and save.
opera:config#User JavaScript File

iam1simpleguy 28. October 2008, 10:15

i already done then yaar,rather after doing this when u click on any download link my opera crashes n i have to restart again

Tamil 28. October 2008, 10:20

:confused:

iam1simpleguy 28. October 2008, 17:01

well that crash problem is solved as i earlier made mistake with diologe.ini.and now i am able to save that file,i have reached to that point.Firstly i am not able to see smilies yet secondly what about this thing,where to edit this as u said that

MySmilies= 0; //-- Set to 1 if you want to use your smilies
MySmiliesBase="http://files.myopera.com/"// Path to your smilies folder
var MySmiliesList={
// Add your smilies below. Example:"Smiley1": 'Smiley1.gif',"Smiley2": 'Smiley2.gif',"Smiley3": 'Smiley3.gif'

Tamil 28. October 2008, 17:12

You don't have to edit anything unless you want to use your own smilies.

Enter path to User JS folder and save. Then, reload this page and you should see formatting tools in comment textarea.

iam1simpleguy 28. October 2008, 17:34

It doesn't show up in reporting bugs for a widget, or you can't use BBCode markup there, I haven't tried :smile:

EDIT: Doesn't show up on skins comments either.
