Google search suggestions in Opera
Monday, July 12, 2010 7:36:53 PM
Opera 10.60 supports search suggestions and currently it is enabled for Bing and Wikipedia. You can enable for Google by following the steps below.

Google search suggestions
- Open search.ini file from profile directory in any text editor.
If there is no search.ini file inside profile directory, delete Google search and create new Google search.
- CTRL+F12 > Search
- [Select] Google > Edit... > Details >> > Copy address > Cancel
- [Select] Google > Delete > Yes
- Add... > Enter name, keyword, paste address and enable 'use as default search engine' > OK
- At the end of Google search engine add the following code and save.
Suggest Protocol=JSON Suggest URL=http://suggestqueries.google.com/complete/search?json&q={SearchTerm}After adding the code, it should look like the following.[Search Engine X] UNIQUEID=XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Name=Google Verbtext=0 URL=http://www.google.com/search?q=%s&sourceid=opera&num=%i&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8 Query= Key=g Is post=0 UseTLD=0 Has endseparator=0 Encoding=iso-8859-15 Search Type=0 Position=-1 Nameid=0 Deleted=0 Suggest Protocol=JSON Suggest URL=http://suggestqueries.google.com/complete/search?json&q={SearchTerm} - Restart Opera.
Opera will show only 3 search suggestions and there is no way to increase it.

See if Mozilla Addons has an example.
Just click "download anyway" when you get the prompt telling you that you need Firefox to load the addon, and you'll get a simple XML page with the URL free to copy and paste into your search.ini. Just remember to change {SearchTerms} into {SearchTerm}.
