Same problem here too... i can't find the above under my standard toolbar.ini which is located elsewhere from what's stated. Might be a linux specific thing or perhaps opera 9.01's changed. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Try looking in your standard MENU ini. Paths can be found in Help, About Opera. See the link edit menu setup for details.

Replace %c with %l.

I'm trying to make this work as a keyboard shortcut, but I can't get it to function. It seems there is a problem with Execute program, but I don't know for sure.

Any ideas?

DaveDava Saturday, August 26, 2006 10:33:54 PM

I take it there is no way of getting this edit to work with the right-click menu when you right-click a link. For example you would have:

Open
Open in background tab
Open in Internet Explorer
etc

Ops... I think I missed the duplicate menu entry part... no wonder i can't find my .ini file. Sorry for any inconveniences.. Btw is there a way to extend the open in background page to all new tab functions? For example in google searches, when u select open in new page in advanced preferences, clicking on search results will force you into the new page. Would be nice if it were to open in a background page...

Also, is there a way to bind the window list to a shortcut key? I can't find the function name in the shortcuts menus. The window list manifests itself as a clickable arrow on the right side of the tab bar when u select 'show extender menu' under the customize toolbar option. Thanks in advance!

Re: getting the buttons to work on Mac OSX

Change firefox to full path to Firefox or Safari and try.

This doesn't work for me. I also tired replacing firefox with "open -a firefox" which works from a terminal but that didn't work either. Any ideas??? I'd love to be able to get this to work. And if we can do this with FF we can get an open with Safari button too smile

Has anyone else been able to get these to work on OSX? I've been searching all over the place but haven't found anything. Unless I'm not entering the full path correctly.... (should be /Applications/Firefox ?? Mine is actually in /Applications/Browsers/Firefox)

For Mac users, use the full path to the executable file of the program. For example, Firefox :
"/Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin"

By default, Opera 9.50 has "Open with" functionality.

Anonymous writes: By default, Opera 9.50 has "Open with" functionality. It would be useful also a way to customize 'Open with'. Mine is somewhat redundant with many non_required entries and with some missed also. These last ones are those with frugal/non_intrusive installations, such as in my case 'firefox', installed via frugal *.tar.bz package and not with a sytem_wide_deep_install as a .deb package does in a linux system.

Matt writes: Tamil, Great stuff! I thought I'd need a widget or somesuch nonsense to come up with a way to search Tineye.com for images. Firefox has an Add-in to do this via right-click but Opera, my newest fave browser, doesn't. So I became hell-bent on coming up with one and your posts made it possible to navigate the darkness. In gratitude to share with my master-teachers (you and others herein), following adds tineye search via right-click to the page loaded by Opera 10.10: In the "standard_menu.ini" file found at C:\Program Files\Opera\ui inan unaltered setup of Opera, in the [Image Link Popup Menu] section, place this line of text whereever you want it among your menus: Item, Search with Tineye.com=Execute Program, "C:\Program Files\Opera\opera.exe","http://www.tineye.com/search?url=%l" Now restart Opera and pick an image on a web page, right-click and choose "Search with Tineye.com". This opens the Tineye.com results page and shows all the images on the page of the image you right-clicked on. Click on the image you actually want to get the matches for and then you get the matches for that exact image. I suppose to make it 100% honest you can place this same command in the page right-click command area of the .ini file and then it's all on the up and up. I don't know how to send the one specific image URL over to tineye.com since I cannot find it among the supported internal Opera .ini file variables as discussed here: http://operawiki.info/IniFileVariables If you can find it, then we will be all the way there, so please, anyone, post if you know the answer. But for now, this is 99% of the way there and as they say good enough for government work. My .ini file looks like this, for example: ... [Image Link Popup Menu] Item, M_BOOKM_ITEM_POPUP_MENU_OPEN= Open link Item, MI_IDM_MENU_PAGEBAR_LINK_IN_NEW_PAGE= Open link in new page Item, MI_IDM_MENU_PAGEBAR_LINK_IN_BG_PAGE= Open link in background page --------------------1 Item, MI_IDM_HLITEM_GET_IN_NEW_WINDOW= Open link in new window Item, M_OPEN_BACKGROUND_WINDOW= Open link in background window --------------------2 Item, M_LINKS_PANEL_BOOKMARK_LINK= Add link to bookmarks Item, MI_IDM_POPUP_LINK_ADDRESS= Copy link Item, MI_IDM_SAVELINKDOCAS= Save link Item, M_SAVE_LINK_TO_DOWNLOAD_FOLDER= Download url --------------------3 Item, M_OPEN_IMAGE= Open image Item, M_MENU_RELOAD_IMAGE= Load image Item, MI_IDM_COPY_FIG_ADDRESS= Copy image address Item, Search with Tineye.com=Execute Program, "C:\Program Files\Opera\opera.exe","http://www.tineye.com/search?url=%l" --------------------4 Item, MI_IDM_SAVE_FIGURE= Save image Item, M_DOCUMENT_BACKGROUND_MENU_COPY_TO_CLIPBOARD= Copy image ... One can substitute the ref to the opera.exe of course with iexplore, etc. as he or she desires. I prefer Opera though, as we already know. :)

Anonymous Tuesday, December 15, 2009 1:10:36 AM

Matt writes: Oh yeah, another thing.. you may need to add this extra text to other sections of the .ini file too to get some images to have this as an option, eg, the "[Image Popup Menu]" section. Experiment, see what it does. Break things. That's how you figure out how it works. I told my wife all I wanted for Xmas was a T-shirt reading "I Void Warranties". That's the ticket!

Anonymous Tuesday, December 15, 2009 1:16:45 AM

Matt writes: Yet more! OK with other menus, using %l will not work, at least until me or someone else can figure out how to get the exact image URL in all contexts. So I'd suggest using %u instead since we know the internal variable assignment engine is more likely to "always" know the page URL rather than the hovered-over/right-clicked image URL (apparently). So the line ought to be this: Item, Search with Tineye.com=Execute Program, "C:\Program Files\Opera\opera.exe","http://www.tineye.com/search?url=%u"

Tamil Thursday, December 24, 2009 12:01:54 PM

Sorry for late reply.

Add the following under [Image Popup Menu] section.
Item, Search with Tineye.com = Copy image address & Go to page, "http://www.tineye.com/search?url=%c"

Add the following under [Image Link Popup Menu] section.
Item, Search with Tineye.com = Copy link & Go to page, "http://www.tineye.com/search?url=%c"

Hi Tamil,
Trying your *.ini file in new Opera 10.50 but it doesn't work how it is supposed to. It opens only home page in IE but not the exactly same web page as in Opera. In short it triggers IE to open but IE stays on its home page, it doesn't get "redirected" to the page (link). It looks like the *.ini file needs to be somehow adjusted.
Thx,
pegas

I use buttons:

Button10, "InIE"="Execute program, "iexplore", "%u", "InIE", "Ie""
Button11, "InChrome"="Execute program, "C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe", "%u", "InChrome", "Ic""

The second one is new since 10.50 came out...

File is:

C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Application Data\Opera\Opera\toolbar\standard_toolbar (1).ini

Remember to change {username} to suit. The path to Chrome may be different for you, just RMB its icon and choose Properties to get where your Chrome is. The toolbar path should work for more recent copies of Windows than mine (XP)?
