great reduction of horizontal spacing, what the Opera standard skin should have been.

Request - I'm finding that widthwise the icons on the toolbars are taking way too much space horizontaly compared my previous prefered skin zuper-slim8, could this be changed?

regards,

All in all not bad. wink

But a few things could be even better:

Most toolbars are really too tiny. The icons do not have enough room vertically. The menu bar also looks very tiny.

Do you want to reduce it in a particular toolbar or all?

This is to reduce space.

Tabs could be a little smaller in width.
Otherwise - really nice! Thanks.

rseiler Friday, June 27, 2008 3:00:58 AM

Narrower tabs? They're already just wide enough to be able to see what the sites are, and that's only if you don't add that many tabs. Any narrower, which would break with standard/classic/native tradition, and the text would border on useless.

creegah Friday, June 27, 2008 12:44:15 PM

@rseiler
Well, I go by the favicon most of the time to identify the page so don't need the text, but I can see your point.
I have modified a lot of my skins to have narrower tabs and it really makes a big difference.

rseiler Friday, June 27, 2008 6:15:41 PM

@creegah,
Work with me here, I'm trying to understand. So if only the favicon matters to you (which for me would be a problem, since many times I have tabs open on the same site) then I'm not sure what you're losing by the tabs starting at a readable width and gradually getting narrower as you add more. You'll eventually get to a point where you can really only see the icons anyway, so what advantage is it starting that way? That's the very place I don't want to be, so I'm always trying to avoid having too many tabs.

creegah Friday, June 27, 2008 10:38:55 PM

@rseiler

Hey, I like to start out with tabs that are smaller....don't shoot.

There are a few skins out there that have narrower tabs included as a feature so I don't think I'm the only one who likes this kind of arrangement.
I did not mean they had to be EXTREMELY narrow so as to ONLY see the favicon; that would be daft - just slightly more narrow.

More than glad to "roll my own". ;-)

Very nice.

jcboogabug Saturday, June 28, 2008 5:29:13 PM

Tamil,
One problem with your skin: The trash icon on the right side of the tab bar has the top part of the trash can (the lid) cropped, and it's not vertically centered.

Tamil Saturday, June 28, 2008 5:33:42 PM

Yes. sherlock

Edit: Fixed.

nizamx Saturday, July 5, 2008 12:52:41 PM

Tamil can you make main bar slim too.

jcboogabug Saturday, July 5, 2008 2:51:29 PM

nizamix, i think the main bar is slim, isn't it?

nizamx Saturday, July 5, 2008 3:07:50 PM

No go customize-toolbars- select main bar and see also below, the bottom bar is the main bar.

In default location (top) it is slim but when you place it at bottom it is not slim. sherlock

nizamx Saturday, July 5, 2008 3:45:26 PM

That's explain why your buttons are fixed size yesterday but it's a bug I think. And too bad for Opera's karma, it'll be avant browser in next life.

jcboogabug Saturday, July 5, 2008 5:51:30 PM

@Tamil
You said in your [June 2008, 09:33:42] comment that the trash icon is fixed.
Well, I've downloaded http://my.opera.com/Tamil/skins/get.pl?id=8164 but the trash icon still looks cropped.

jcboogabug Saturday, July 5, 2008 5:59:02 PM

Tamil,
your [By Tamil, # 28. June 2008, 09:33:42] comment said "fixed".

The trash icon is not yet fixed. I've downloaded your latest skin, Version: 0.15a, and look at my screenshot.

Though generally I run Opera on my eeePC which runs Ubuntu - with the tabs at the left size I have the full height of the screen available (Ubuntu netbook remix has a great 'maximise' windoa option, which has no window borders - switch apps from a toolbar and they simply run fullscreen)
