Play with Opera language file

You can modify strings in language file to your need.

Create a copy of language file, english.lng in Opera installation directory and rename it to english-modified.lng. Then Tools → Preferences... → General → Language → Details... → Use Interface language → Choose... → [SELECT] english-modified.lng

  1. Modify string -2061349988 to impress your friends with custom message in Opera startup dialog.
    -2061349988="Welcome to Opera"
    to
    -2061349988="Welcome back, Tamil!"

Very nice idea to use lng-file for personalization

I suppose you can use a separate lng-file (e.g. english-by-tamil.lng) to prevent it being overwritten by updates. This should just work like any localized version: simply use Tools - Preferences - General:Language - Details and select the new file. Yet you have to update this file every time the lng file is changed, i.e. due to a new feature.

You don't need to update everytime, you can outsource your language file.

opera:config#UserPrefs|LanguageFile setting is there.

But , obvioiusly if there is a major update, then merging of files is needed then.

Hi Tamil,
I have two questions:
1. How can I omit "Using Opera's revolutionary e-mail client: http://www.opera.com/mail/" from the emails I send using Opera?
2. How can I save receiving emails in a desired format such as "Web Archive"?
Thanks so much for your persistence in work!

I don't know. Please ask in Opera mail, chat and news forum.

Hi again Tamil
I dealt with another problem. While checking one of my mail accounts I face a "Long-time fetching process" as shown in the following image.
http://mohammadk.persiangig.com/image/Mail%20check-opera.jpg
But for other accounts there is no percentage bar to receive mails!
Thanks

wonderful, thanks tamil.

since the cache4 has now changed with 9.5 and is not showing file endings any more, is there a way to restore the file endings in that folder without needing to refer to tools>advanced>cache?

even if it means doing something like adding the thumbnails button in the advanced cache view. add something which helps identify certain file types, like putting a green star next to all audio files, for example. that would be great.

@researchwizard: great tip. cheers.

how do i do this on a mac? i have a power book g4 with leopard operating system.

i would like to do this and i am also interested in tweaking my favicons (for the sites that don't display one so i can make something of my own rather than using the generic star).

anyway, i would really appreciate any help!
