Proxy server authentication problem with Opera?

If proxy server authentication dialog box doesn't popup or popup frequently, try NTLMAPS.
NTLMAPS for Windows
NTLMAPS for Linux
- Download NTLMAPS.zip and unzip NTLM Authorization Proxy Server.
- Open server.cfg in any text editor and modify the following items shown in red/green color.
PARENT_PROXY:your_parentproxy
PARENT_PROXY_PORT:8080
User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1) to # User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1)
NT_DOMAIN:your_domain
USER:username_to_use
PASSWORD:your_nt_password to PASSWORD: - In Opera, go to , check HTTP, HTTPS & FTP, enter 127.0.0.1 as proxy server and 5865 as port. Disable Enable NTLM in Opera.

Proxy servers configuration in Opera - Run ntlmaps.cmd or ntlmaps.exe from NTLMAPS folder and don't close command window.

NTLM Authorization Proxy Server window
- Download NTLMAPS in tar.gz format and extract it.
- See step #2 for Windows.
- See step #3 for Windows.
- Open terminal, enter path to main.py, press enter and don't close terminal window.
Update: Oct 11, 2007
I tried the set-up as you described, but I still have no access to the "localhost" on my computer where I had set up WinXP home to operate ASP files locally for web page development. I wanted to have Opera 9.23 access the "localhost" so I can view and test new local ASP web pages in the Opera Browser.
No matter how I try to set the variables in the "server.cfg" file, Opera will not access the localhost (http://localhost/). It continues to ask for user authentication, and with or without a password it does not work.
Just to ensure I covered the bases, as I know it, I shut down my Comodo firewall and the problem persists.
What suggestions do you have to get Opera to work with localhost?

My computer is on a LAN which is connected to internet through a proxy server (WebMarshal).
With IE7, Firefox and Avant it is just enough to configure the HTTP Proxy as WebMarshal and Port as 8080.
Doing the same on Opera brings up the login dialog for the proxy server (WebMarshal), which I have no access to (obviously!)
Any help?
Thanks in advance

Another interesting thing is happening!
Only Google and related sites are opening in Opera without any proxy configuration for WebMarshal.

hello,
most likely you have to reconfigure your server.cfg (in %Program_files%\ntlmaps\server.cfg)
in my one I must have changed following entries:
PARENT_PROXY:
#just remove the your_proxy_whatever text
NT_DOMAIN:writeYourDomainNameHere
USER:YourUserLikeTamil
PASSWORD:YouKnowYourPassw
#this is the magic here i guess
LM_PART:1
NT_PART:1
NTLM_FLAGS: 07820000
NTLM_TO_BASIC:1
#so that's it, have fun!
by the way, the missing NTLM auth in Opera was the biggest REASON why i changed to Mozilla.
but now i'm back :)
Bye

After the move to the new office Opera nags me about proxy authentication.
This was not the case at my old office, nor is the case if I take my laptop over there and run Opera.
This solution that You are presenting here, is this something that I can do on my coputer and then things will be fine, or will I have to get a network administrator to come and do this? I fear that if the lastes is the case I can forget being able to use Opera at work as I'm the only one using Opera and they dont want to mess around to much for one user.
And howcome this is a problem for Opera? IE works fine...
An observation I made is that when hooking of the checkbox for proxy-server it says something like
"These settings does not apply for external or VPN-connections)"
This I can not see that Opera got?
Allso if in IE I choose [Advanced] there is a checkbox there saying something like
"Use same proxy-server for all protokolls"
I cant see that Opera got this?

It is not avialable in Opera. Support "Use same proxy server for all protocals" option as in IE wish.By Tamil, # 18. June 2008, 11:01:00

Did you change proxy server address and port in Opera as mentioned above?Originally posted by Qumad_AlRiyf:
It is correct. If you provide your password in server.cfg, no need to type password and press enter.Originally posted by Qumad_AlRiyf:
It should always until you close Opera.By Tamil, # 19. June 2008, 06:26:14

I don't want to have change my config everytime I have to change my network password!
How come Firefox just knows my network credentials, and does not have to bug me for them?
By anonymous user, # 25. June 2008, 17:39:23
It's true.. why does Opera always bug me for my NTLM credentials when Firefox is able to read that? I thought this is what the "Enable NTLM" setting in opera:config is about..
