Update Opera custom keyboard setup/menu setup/mouse setup/language/dialog files using WinMerge

Updating customized keyboard setup/menu setup/mouse setup/language/dialog files manually is cumbersome and time consuming. You can use file comparision software (Windows: Freeware WinMerge or shareware Beyond Compare, Linux: Meld) to visualize difference and update custom setups easily.
The default keyboard setup, menu setup, mouse setup, dialog files are standard_keyboard.ini, standard_menu.ini, standard_mouse.ini & dialog.ini respectively inside defaults folder in Opera installation directory.
Your custom files will be inside keyboard, menu & mouse folders in your profile.
Load your setup file and corresponding default file in file comparision software, compare them and update your files.

Thank you for the support you have provided us.
When updating to a new version of Opera, is it recommended to put it in place of the previous version
...Application Data\Opera\Opera\
or should it be saved to a new folder like
...Application Data\Opera\Opera960\
and
Program Files\Opera
or
Program Files\Opera960
Some installers seem to ask if you want to put it in a different folder in Program Files..and some others don't.
What is the difference?
Thanks,

I have some teachers who report this has been happening.
If I update them to 9.60, should we uninstall the old version, then load the new version or download it over the old one?

If Opera is installed in previous installation folder, Opera will use your previous settings and no need to copy settings from old version. You should not install beta version over stable version. The following is valid if you install Opera with Only use single profile for all users option disabled.
If you install Opera in Program Files\Opera, your settings will be stored in ...Application Data\Opera\Opera\
If you install Opera in Program Files\Opera960, your settings will be stored in ...Application Data\Opera\Opera960\

HEllo. This blog made me come from firefox to Opera. So, first of all thank you for sharing the information to the world.
I would like to ask a question. I kept trying to find a way to map a mouse gesture to Delete private data and close opera. I tried this command:
Delete private data & Click default button & Exit
it opens Delete private data, it clears private data, it closes the Delete private data windows but it doesn't close opera. Any ideas ? Thank you.
